I have always had a bad feeling about Jed and his involvement with the Mt. Gox fiasco. I wish Mark would have expanded on how those private keys were obtained.
It was a wallet.dat that was (probably) stolen and the Bitcoin clients at the time had 100 keys pregenerated it would use when the user wanted a new address. So the thief had those future keys and only had to wait until these addresses would fill up. That's most likely why the money was drained over years... Look for wizsec / Kim Nilsson's blog about MtGox.
sadly chapter 11 protects the original villians or incompetent CEOs and their hapless team and usually soaks up £Ms of credit that should goto customers in the process , then distributes 1/10th if your lucky of what you had some time months or years later and the original bad guys end up rich and wealthy - look at what happened to Avaya

The accent was killing me. My take away all the giant implosions this cycle will continue to happen as long as you can fire up a project and not disclose the internal financials. The crypto space rewards the biggest projects with the most flex. Good at hype and deal making, and don't care if you hurt people then you have got what it takes to make it in crypto. Sure you might blow up in the process of making a box that has value because you convince people to put their funds in that box that leads to more people to follow them. It's all about making an attractive box.
