Chris you have about got me sold on some DMTs as they appear to be much faster than my old Norton combo of medium and India and the less strokes the less chance of messing up. Thanks for the video and have a great week!
Interesting you mentioned that at the 02:24 mark. I think the thing you're talking about is autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR). Lots of people find that soft sound of the blade being sharpened to be relaxing. There are channels dedicated to this stuff, and I'm sure it would not bore them.

I’m actually with you on s30v. S30v gives me a tougher time than s110v, k390 or m390. The only steel that “eludes” me more is zdp-189. I can get a fine edge with zdp but really need to work it to get it hair whittling. It might be my progression, who knows…
That’s what I thought,s30v are harder to sharpen than s110v,k390 for me not because that the material is harder but it quite hard to make fine edge for s30v I feel like the burr is just flexing back and forth instead of coming off.
If you don't have your sharpening 100% figured out s110v can be the most frustrating steel to sharpen, but when you get it right 🤩 your in Valhalla pure edge aggression crazy bite...
@@preppinainteasy9965 that stuff is a pain in the ass, and is not worth the time it takes to sharpen compared to it's edge holding capability. I'd my h rather use something like s90v

Unfortunately all the information I find is not consistent regarding this stone, I'm really looking forward to your video on Washitas as well. I always feel confident when I make purchases with information you provide. I also know when you recommend any type of stone or knife, the quality is guaranteed to be there without question. Thank you and I hope you have a great weekend.
I am having problems with my super steels and getting rid of that tiny burr left after sharpening. Taking forever on my strops and by the time I get it the edge is actually duller from the crazy amount of stropping. I am going to try your signal swipe technique instead of doing repetitive up and down at a 45° ish like if it were s kitchen knife. I think I am getting the burr bigger than it needs to be. I was just doing my s110v native 5 and looked up your video and tried your way but I think I already had a thickish burr from before. So frustrating
Rough Rooster Knife Sharpening Edge trailing or leading strokes? I seem to do pretty well when I finish on my atoma 1200 but then when I go to my spyderco fine and ultra fine the burr comes back much thicker and is crazy hard to get it back to nothing or smaller. I know I need real light pressure but in order to get my entire edge polished to what the spyderco stones can do I have to spend a while on them. I wish they made diamond stones that actually go up to 8k...I know dmt does but from everything I've heard the extra extra fine leaves a serious coarse scratch pattern if not broken in. I wish atoma made a finer stone than the 1200, although it is a killer stone and get my knives crazy sharp. Besides my s110v knives apparently lol. If you haven't tried atoma diamond stones you have to man. I had all dmt before and now replaced everuthing with atoma 140, 400, 600, and 1200. Very happy with them. It's not always easy to do. And is not very necessary lol. But you have to find a good combination of stones/strops. You CANT have any Burr whatsoever. And you must have a perfect apex and an extremely sharp one at that. It needs to have a good bite as well.
When into an edge instead of away im imagining the bur would be smaller and consist of metal peices that pop up away while most lay on the stone... that or hes imagining a bur cause I think what youre thinking - HOW?
