Those were not hurricane force. Probably around 50-55MPH. Hurricane force would’ve done damage to the overhang of the gas pumps and probably take out that little tree.
85-90mph at 11:09 timestamp? come on now, absolutely not. Likely up to 45-50mph maximum in the whole video. Rain can make winds appear stronger than they are.
Derechos don't have gust fronts. They're one big gust front. If you watch any of the videos from the August 2020 Derecho event you'll see how the gusts come in waves and each wave produced gusts of 80-90mph with powerful punches that ripped trees apart. There was also much heavier rain, thunder and lightning and it lasted for an hour. This was more of a rain and wind event. No lightning during the entire video. Way too much drama for basically nothing.
If Oklahoma City and Tulsa get 110-mph winds tonight, then any storm chaser in that thing would need to be in a TIV to stay safe in that kind of wind! "TIV" stands for "Tornado Intercept Vehicle".
Was hit directly by this storm. But, being an iowan, I wasn't in the basement. I was in the kitchen looking out the window

And the sign in the second clip would have been wobbling at hurricane force as well.
@@evanjones9602 Not to mention that car they're in is like a rock. Nothing's rocking..
In the spot he was in yea, this storm did have measured sustained 90mph wind in some spots it was wild.
Agree, more like 45-55 mph
I like it when they just show the weather event... and don't talk. We can see that the wind is strong.
I was watching from my garage. I use to live in Florida/Georgia and thought I never had to deal with Hurricanes again. It was crazy.
It’s not a hurricane tho
@@KoId. It was hurricane winds tho.
A derecho is called a inland hurricane
Why can't we hear 3/4" hail hitting vehicle?

December + Derecho = Iowa Decemberecho
Two queens caught in a garden variety thunderstorm.

I have been in a derecho with 85 mile a hour winds. This ain’t one. Basically a thunderstorm.
How fast is that amazing
Thanks for sharing this. Wow.
4:06 ???
What direction were the winds from?
They were from the Southwest. We had Southeast winds ahead of it. Captured a picture of a tornado that was to our Northwest.
They didn’t even lose power at the gas station. Must be underground wires
I'd be afraid of that overhang between you and huge winds....😳😳😳😳😳
Yeah, I made sure I wasn't in it's path if it went.
Try cedar rapids derecho if you think 80- 90 mph was bad.
I was there for it as well.
December 15 2021 possible the worst storm ever
Yes, that derecho was horrifying. Most likely the worst to occur that time of year.
@@CHICAGOSPOTTER86yeah I remember it was 60 degrees outside where I live and o just remember the anxiety I had about it and the storm
Good stop...good luck xxxx
Calm your roll, those are barely tropical storm winds. also saw no hail, why you making people panic for no good reason.
Why would be fun if it's dangerous ?

That was just a typical regular thunderstorm lol
Wrong, this was a PDS severe warned storm during the December derecho that hit Iowa. This wasn't just a regular thunderstorm.
I have never seen a storm so bad in eastern iowa had 85mph winds. Much more than normal storm
God I hate people like you who go ‘lol you think this is bad you should see blah blah blah’..,
If you have nothing good to say, shut it
