Wildlife Proofing Your Roof and Attic

Roof rents of all kinds are easy access points for most wildlife and pests. They are often overlooked by many other wildlife companies as a potential access for animals. Even when other companies do attempt to exclude these areas, they typically use cheap materials and install it in a way that creates additional or future problems for the home owner.
In this case, the previous company excluded the roof vents using a steel mesh. When the installed the screen, it pinned the fan blades in place, which prevents the fans from actively drawing hot air out of the attic. This leads to a hotter attic, increased cooling costs, and more wear and tear on the HVAC unit as it will have to remain running for longer and more frequently.
We removed the poorly installed steel screens and installed heavy duty vent covers over each roof vent. The covers consist of 18 gauge galvanized steel (powdered coated black). The are mounted onto the roof using roofing screws and roof sealant. These vent covers are rated to prevent raccoons, opossums, squirrels, rats, and other wildlife from gaining entry to the attic.
