Good artwork they already have (not just from Legends of Runeterra), but these initial cards look so white and cheap...

Let’s hope that these ain’t the final designs

I just hope they use black borders. This prototype designs look too similar to digimon and one piece tcg

MtG had white borders in the early sets and everyone hated them, surprised other TCGs haven't learned that lesson. White backgrounds not only look basic and cheap, but also get dirty easier, because even a single tiny black or brown speck would be very visible on a white card.

I personally think they look fine. They look like one piece. Makes getting alt arts more worth too

The recycle mechanic seems super interesting if I’m understating it right. Essentially give up permanent resources to play bigger spells ahead of curve

I've seen other card games do simular mechanics but they never made it a main part of the card frame and game mechanics. So while the mechanic itself isn't unique, the scale in which it's been applies is _very_ unique. Which implies a much different tempo

If you mean the rune costs from 7:25, it seems like you have to both pay the energy AND the recycle cost, so you're not playing bigger spells ahead of the curve, big spells require you to give up max energy.

@@Sinzari they meant it in the sense that these cards are _balanced around_ having the _power_ of a higher cost card while having a lower initial cost upfront

I have a feeling like windwall is very strong, essentially a 0 cost counterspell is very strong even if it sets you back on your curve. Might be balanced in this game but from a mtg perspective those type of counters are really mainstays

Idk if this just me being closed minded but dang the one part that always kinda annoyed me a bit about runeterra was how the card text is written in first person. With things like mtg or ygo my brain can parse effects quickly enough just from reflex but with that kind of writing it takes me just a moment longer to try and figure out what the card does, and that gets annoying after a while.

I agree, even if it's just because of what we're used to, there's no good reason to change that standard.
