I am loving @Northlawnflowerfarm 's weekly walk about and am soooo happy to see you doing the same. I've decided to take up this habit in my own garden. Love the idea of a time not to plan, work, or agonize lol over the garden, but just to observe and appreciate the movement of nature. Sometimes we gardners forget this.

I like seeing you talk about which plant varieties work well for you and which don’t. What weeds or invasive plants you are dealing with. What you would plant more of and what you would not. This is a good format for that info as well as showing what things look like in different growth stages. Those things you can’t tell from looking at plant tags. Thank you! Your bulbs are so pretty and the new hanging baskets will be fun to see.

This is not a boring video, this is a video showing your garden waking up from winter like so many of us have! We can relate to this as not everybody has a perfect garden or staff to clean it up. I like the idea of a "firebowl" water planter, I like how the copper ages and think the size would be more substantial than a pot yet still manageable. I think many can agree we just enjoy your personality and wit and will watch what you post. If this type makes it a little more enjoyable for you than do it so you don't get that dreaded feeling of "I've got to edit and post a video", takes the fun out of it for you.

Erin, I really enjoyed this unedited garden stroll. You are keeping it real, and it's great to watch the progression of your garden throughout the season. Thanks for asking for our input. because I love this type of content. Sometimes an occasional cuss word is necessary to describe an invasive plant/weed (like the variegated Bishops Weed), after years of trying to eradicate it from one garden bed (which is surrounded by concrete on all sides), I solarized the area for an entire year, and that killed the roots. It's been gone for over 20 years now. YAY!
I also enjoy watching Northlawn Flower Farm, Danielle has a graceful way of showing us her garden rooms, weeds, and all.

I like the unedited, “raw” video. Life is raw and unedited, and it was reassuring to see that your garden has issues, weeds, unruly areas just like the rest of us.
Do what you need to in order to simplify your life. Whatever you produce will be beneficial, loved, and appreciated ❤

If I were to drive by your house, I would still slow down to see what you have going on because I could tell you are a gardener. it is a curated space and has interesting things going on and could give me inspiration and ideas. I think Danielle at NLFF said "don't let perfect be the enemy of good".

As an avid gardner, I would much rather see "The process" as it unfolds, in real life, ...................than "The edited" version. I have unsubscribed, unfollowed UA-cam channels that to me became a hodge podge/helter skelter/ over edited mish mash of content. I'm not here to be entertained. I'm here to learn. ( Coincidently my son and his family live just west of you and I need to help him with their yard/flower gardens, sooooooo I'm hanging on your every word, LOL)

Absolutely show us! We (I) love the videos and the interaction. Please let us know we are not alone in reality 😂. I do enjoy others videos but the extreme "tidiness" can get overwhelming and make us smaller gardeners feel less than. Your videos and Danielle, as you mentioned, (Cranery Garden, Common farm, Crowley House, Phaedra Gardeness too), inspire us to do what feels right and we may not always get it 💯, but keep on and it is Ok. Thank you! We are all in this together to make it a beautiful place. No judgement.

I liked the unedited, walk about video, I hope you’ll keep doing it. The feeling of walking around the garden with a friend is fun.
PS If you are going to let the stinging nettle stay at least dead heading it might be a good idea. Each stalk is capable of (and will) produce 1,000s of seeds and you will have nearly 100% germination. Go ahead, ask me how I know, lol. If you decide to keep it, good luck, I’ll be praying for you sister!

I love this. It is my kind of garden tour. I just did my mid-April tour and if I didn't show all the "warts" of my gardens, I would miss all the early blooms. It made me feel so much better about my videos. At 80, I simply can't have everything "buttoned up" and no amount of editing would improve it. As it is, it takes me hours to edit a 20 minute video to make it interesting--like your explaining about your neighbor. Thanks so much and yes--more!

YES! I loved this. Every year during winter my back garden looks SO bad I think, “ Oh my goodness, THIS time my garden is so bad it’s NOT going to bounce back”. Then spring comes and it does. I live in San Jose 9b and we have many evergreen plants so it’s not like in colder climates where most things are dormant and look bleak. I know how beautiful your property is so seeing the natural way of things is very helpful! Thanks Erin! (I love Northlawn Flower Farm with Danielle as well 😍🥰).

Erin, I enjoyed this format. It was very much like what I do in my yard to see what's coming up after a long winter. Daily walks around the yard.
I'm retired and still take my time cleaning up. I was surprised (pleasantly) to see so much growth on some of my perennials, especially the nepeta. Hidden among the leaf debris were tulips I'd planted last October and forgotten where I put them.
I already got my Longfield Gardens lily order (their bulbs are huge!), but will hold off until after the forecasted inch of rain passes (I'm in Minneapolis so it may come to you next). There are 25 of them! What was I thinking?! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I ordered so many plants online and have forgotten some of them. I hope they don't all arrive at once from the 4 or 5 retailers.

If you love ‘Jetfire’ then you need to ‘Rapture’…they are the cutest! And they catch the setting sun so beautifully. ‘Baby Moon’ is also so tiny and precious 🥹 as is ‘Minnow’. I’m adding more minis this fall.

I have so many things arriving in the mail from my winter ordering now. Dahlias, Gladiolus, Lilies, Peonies, Freesia and seed packs! So Exciting! 🥰

The perils of a long winter for we gardeners. I, too, ordered lots of things. So many, I think I lost track. Now, I fear they'll all arrive the same week. Five clematis from a couple vendors, a tree, many, many perennials and elephant ear bulbs (or corms). 25 lily bulbs just arrived! I'll have to spread them around to other beds as my eyes were bigger than my garden. 😮

I loved this format. You gushing over the flowers on your septic field made me chuckle. My husband and I planted 300 bulbs in my front lawn, a mix of Tete a tete daffodils, Jetfire daffodils and Chionodoxa in Fall 2022 in 3 somewhat irregular formations. We loved them so much when they bloomed last spring that we added another 200 bulbs last Fall. We have been so proud of our display this year, but a couple of people have stopped by and asked us what's wrong with our lawn 😂. This is the first time this has happened to me. Till now people have always stopped by to admire my gardens.

Erin, I loved the walk around. I haven't done any garden clean up this year other than carefully raking the leaves out from my hellebores and cutting down their foliage from last year. I am following the advice of Nancy DuBrule from Natureworks Garden Center in Northford, CT, and holding off to give the insects/critters time to exit hollow stems and dead leaf debris. But tomorrow will be 73 or so in my West Hartford garden and I am going to start raking, darn it. I LOVE the bulbs on the septic mound. So very romantic and charming. I want to replicate that look in a circular section of my front lawn. (I did plant scilla 3 or so years ago, but would add more small bulbs, maybe this fall if I don't run out of steam.)

Enjoyed this walk 'n talk video as it really reflects my southern Ontario garden at this time of year too. My daffodils are my only bright lights so far & my forsythia just popped up 3 days ago. Had lots of rain lately. The coming sun is also bringing in some cooler nights, possibly frost by next week. Patience, more daydreaming & time to cut back the winter & weed. Think Spring!

I appreciate your garden more when you keep it "real." It reminds me that I don't have to be cleaning my beds 24-7, that I'm not one of the Joneses & it is only April! Like you, I live where snow days coyld still come.
    Thanks for sharing!

Love this! Going out to wander mine now. The weed is that @#%! Bishop weed. Mine reverted to solid green and it's a battle I think I will never win getting rid of it! Should be banned!! Love the cornus. Will have to look for that. 5b here just over the stateline SW of you. Have a big parch of pushkinia and scilla that has been expanding for many years. Last week there were literally at least a hundred red admirals covering it. Amazing! Stuff is really growing today! Thanks again for the tour! Hope to run into at Northwind (or elsewhere) sometime! Are you speaking there again this year?

This was great, Erin!! It's like walking in the garden with a friend. Please don't worry about getting editing completed...I just want to see what's going on in your garden. I'm in Central NY Zone 5b, so I really appreciate seeing a garden that is in the same/similar growth phase as mine. Thank you!!

Loved this video! Thank you for posting. I garden in Port Washington, WI, and my borders, too, have some ugly. (I delay clean up to let the pollinators emerge before I start poking around in there too much.) Best Wishes!

Love this walking tour just as much as I’ve enjoyed Danielle’s on the weekend. Good to see the reality for an early spring garden. The waking up process can be intoxicatingly fun. So much promise for the upcoming season.

I thought this video was great! I can’t relate to a UA-cam gardener whose garden always looks “perfect”. One of my favorite channels is John Lord’s Secret Garden and I don’t think he edits anything!

So interesting to see that your Cornus Mas is blooming now in mid-April when our mature Cornus Mas in the PNW (Seattle, WA) blooms mid-February.
