Excellent presentation of the probably most different martial arts both from China! What I appreciate is the remark namely it is the individual level of mastery in any of the school that proves decisive in a street fight. Methodologicallyly, I miss som confrontation of masters of the two different principles to give a better view of the situation to be expected and and the style to be decided for. More to it, the Chineese still make a difference between the kicks of the North and fists of the south, with people mostly different in physical height and strength.Paul, 67, retired instructor of Karate. Bruce Lee already proved that Wing Chun was more effective than Kung Fu,when he fought and defeated Wong Jack Man in a one sided hand to hand combat in the early 60's ,you see Wong Jack Man was a expert in Chinese king Fu or the national Chinese sholin style.woo shu to be exact, In my opinion it would depends on the individual fighter.
But Wing Chun is a form of kung fu . Furthermore Bruce Lee was already cross training in different styles before fighting Wong . So he was not a pure WC stylists when he fought him .
@nicholasgreen339 Bruce Lee was very briefly trained in Tai Chi chune but said it was too slow and it was then switched to Wing Chun at age 14 trained by Yipman. But later trained by someone who trained under Yip man, because Yup man found out Bruce Lee was not 100% Chinese ,in that he was 90% Chinese but 10% German blood. Bruce Lee never trained in any other styles since he simply had no time , he came to America when he was just 20.
@nicholasgreen339 what Bruce Lee and I agree on is that, there is no such thing as the best Martial Arts method since what you do have is the best fighting style on your back which is different from the best standing style etc but they are all different styles
@@alexliu5636 that is incorrect ,according to Lee's wife, it was the fight against Wong jack man that made Bruce realize that he should start cross training to combat any style standing or on the ground

You are totally out of context young friend. “ KONG” means “ work, effort” “ FU” means superlative “skill”. The term can be applied to the art of Chinese Tea, brush painting, chop carving and much more. CHINESE BOXING/MARTIAL ARTS because of the hard work time and skill involved were also known as “ kong Fu” in the past. More correctly they were collectively known as “ WU KONG” = martial skill. Since the cultural revolution the midterm dance/ gymnastic/ theatrical routines became known as “ Wu Shu”.
Kung Fu is a broad category of Chinese martial arts encompassing many different styles of which Wing Chun is one. So already the title of this video suggests that the narrator has no clue what they're talking about.
Studied Wing Chun for one year. Never used it in a street fighter but utilized some of the kicking in sparring. I have used the front oblique kick in conjunction with Goju Karate. Also found that the front oblique kick useful in Wing Chun Class. If I could not control a more skillful opponent my go to attack was the front oblique kick. It shuts down many Wing Chun arm movements.
Well.. basically... Wing Chun is Kung Fu.. and the other one is "Shaolin or wushu Kung Fu" and both have pretty different styles... Wing Chun focuses on controlling your opponent's hands movement.. Wushu is more leg fighting techniques..
Brutal TV I'm going to be honest direct and straight with you the original martial arts that I wanted to train as a kid we're Kung Fu karate Taekwondo which are Wing Chun Kung Fu kyokushin karate Taekwondo itf these are the best most well known used and practice styles of kung fu karate Taekwondo ever effective and work in self-defense street fighting 👍 😀
Kungfu was practiced by Taoist Monks since 255 BC known as Wu Tang Sect in North China. Kungfu was also widely practiced by the Armies of the Emperors. Wing Chun is only a different form of Kungfu developed by a Shaolin Nun Ng A Mui and suitable for women and also men who have small bodies. Wing Chun has its shortcomings that's why Bruce Lee created Jeet Kune Do, thus the most complete fighter so far is still Bruce Lee with his fast & powerful one-inch-punch and brutal side-kicks

"Seek peace always, but if the soul is threatened, then let the soul become a warrior".
Wing Chun is a form of Kung Fu. It was developed in Shoaling in the 17th century where many of the other Kung Fu styles where developed. You do have the origin of Kung Fu correct though
Kung Fu means Mastery of.. A Kung Fu Master Of Law is a Lawyer. A well trained warrior is a Kung Fu Master of martial arts. Wing chun is one of many styles available. Read up on Jimmy H Woo, to learn about a true Master of martial arts.
Kung Fu in Cantonese means Skill... But in northern China martial arts is called Wushu... For example Wing Chun style vs Tung Tzu Kung style from Shaolin instead of Kung Fu...There's so many styles of martial arts in China which Wing Chun style is one part of them...😊
Good job having a go at explaining the many intricacies and styles of the fighting arts. Wing Chun is included in the Chinese definition of Kung Fu as Kung Fu means hard work and that is what you will be signing up for if you wish to attain any level of skill in the martial arts. Years of focus dedication and clean honest living. Out of 100 who start 10 or less will remain after a decade of commitment. Find a style and a school/Dojo/Kwan that you think is the best for you and be prepared for 'Hard work' and commitment. Try Southern Preying Mantis.
What I don't understand is that years ago, another video showed that a *boxer* could knock out a kung-fu master out! Without kicking! 😵💫😖😣 The point of that old video was: any fighting style is good, but *boxing* is only focused on punching your opponent's lights out...with brute force!
I'm a 9th degree black belt in Kung fu and a 6th degree in wing chung and I've been in several bar fights as a patron and a bouncer and wing chung is super effective in close proximity fights Kung fu is as well except Kung fun is designed to take on multiple opponents at once with a break and move type style
Ya there is this is what I grew up doing my father was a grand master in kung Fu and as to wing chung talk to simu Fong in Tucson all about my father he will tell you some that was his teacher as well
Amateur boxing, wing chun, and chin na is what my Sifu taught me. In the beginning he told me WC only works in the street and not in the ring-it wasn't designed as a sport. I'm an RN and I chose WC because I'm always in a small rm or hallway, I've used it once a few years ago.
I am one of only 11 people in the world to hold a 3rd degree in Tickle Feather Bung Chi (TFBI) . By using a single feather preferably from a PeaCock, I can tickle your armpits, feet, back of neck and even your groins to make you laugh and catch you off guard. Once that happens, I employ Bok Choy to finish you off with eye jabs. TFBI is so effective it is now being taught to Seals and Israeli Commandos in conjunction with Krav Maga. TFBI is now considered one of the deadliest forms of hand-to-hand combat. Plus if you do not have access to a feather, you can use a rose petal or any type of flower which is abundant in nature to mimic the tickle effect meaning you are always prepared for hand-to-hand combat in any type environment. The only time this deadly art form may fall short is in arctic conditions due to lack of green flora needed for tickleness . But once you learn how to use & prepare icicles to replace feathers, even Delta Force Commandos will back off and cry for their mama during combat. You have been warned.
I got on here to say that "Wing Chun vs Kung Fu" is like saying "Corvette vs Chevy", but it looks like this title has rubbed many others the same way. I began my Wing Chun training back in 1980, have used it many times, all successfully. Most importantly, I have been able to integrate its principles into all areas of my life, not just combat. It's impossible to separate it from who I am, now. I have trained in several different styles, but at my core I will always be a Wing Chun guy.
Kung-fu means hard work in Chinese and is not only related to martial arts. Every art that needs enormous skills is kung-fu. What you mean is Shaolin wushu vs. Wing chun. Because wing chung is a form of kung-fu, the title does not make any sense.
Wing Chun is Kungfu. Kungfu is what you do to be good at Wushu. And their are many different forms of Chinese martial arts or Wushu. You need to learn what words mean.
OK the translation of king fu from Chinese is “merit master”. As explained by my my Chinese sifu many years ago “skills developed through practice”. He gave an example at the restaurant meeting we had after every class. The chef has kung fu in his cooking skills.
Wing Chun is one of the southern styles of Kung Fu. So you can't necessarily compare Kung Fu to Wing Chun because Wing Chun is Kung Fu. The original Kung Fu or what is today known as the original version is Shaolin Kung Fu, a nothern style, most notably the 5 animal styles: dragon style, tiger style, crane style, leopard style and snake style.
Anyone asking this question isn't a fighter, what's best for fighting is the simplest most effective moves you can use against your opponents skill level. If thats one punch and a front kick, all the better, if thats getting close and dominating all movement attempts with Wing Chun, great but the fact is you require a fighters mind to apply the training of the body to combat. Training, forms, they provide a basis for combat, a skill set for the body to be moved through many positions with precision and power, they are not combat and combat requires a mind adapted to fighting. Combat is the application of skills at the right time in the right way. If you don't have it in you, you will lose.
I find the title of this video redundant and silly because Wing Chun is a Kung Fu style like north/south shaolin, baji quan, chang quan, tai chi, choy lei fat, and hung gar
Despite most misconceptions Kung fu is not a single style but refers lots of styles of martial arts developed in China over hundreds of years. The word "Kung fu" roughly translates to "hard work" in English as it is a demonstration to the hard work they have put into developing their skills in their particular styles of martial art they have practiced. Wing chun is just one of probably hundreds of styles of kung fu and is a relatively modern one in comparison to other styles. Wing chun is an excellent form of kung fu for self defence and it has always worked really well for me and i would recommend it to anyone to give it a try, although everyone is different as individuals and what works for well for me might not work well for another. There is no one superior style it is all down to the "hard work" the individual has put in to their chosen martial art therefore it is ignorant to say something like "kung fu vs Wing chun" or any other one vs another for that matter. It implies to me a complete lack of knowledge on the subject and I would suggest that people should probably brush up on their knowledge of a subject before posting videos about them.
I hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching!!

its not that its useless cos its actually devistating but the problem is peoples interpritations of the knollage range from nothing to out of this world ,99.9% of the wing chun you see on you tube for instance is complete crap and if they come across a good boxer or street fighter they get totally hammered in seconds ,the main reason is what they learn and how they learn they take as Gospel (they get stuck in whats called "the classical mess") what they havnt done is deconstruct everything they learned and re-construct it into what actually works and after the mind body connection epiffiny (the penny drops you must "do" so you fight and pressure test everything ,you soon learn what works and what doesnt ,also wing chun takes 25 years to get right ,from 10 years your just a black sash ,at that point after youve perfected one of the three systems ,you must then become the system meaning you have to take it all apart and reconstruct it but lots and lots and lots of real fights have to be done to do that the proper way ,then you have a true master that can beat the shit out of practically everyone but those ones dont advertise ,they stay in secret and you have to hunt them down ,everyone will claim to be the man when in fact your looking for that 1 person in 1000 that is just above everyone by 10,000000 miles ,there are a couple of good ones as far as i can see are def on there way to becoming exactly that and they are Master Wong and Master Tu Tengyao ,check them 2 masters out and i think youll be pretty suprised huh ,i,'d even show you on a couple of vids the absolute devistating power we have but if i did ,some how some way ,dont ask me how but my SiGung would know the second i did it i kid you not ,thats how special they get the longer they train ,old warriors that have done it and bare the scars to prove it ,their the ones you listen to ,not all these other crazies ,roof top bruce lee's ,he wasn't a Master ,Master my ass ,he had 2 years traing with yip then he left for the U.S ,thats why Jeet even appeared in the 1st place ,he was searching because he didnt finish his training ,he couldn't even explain expansion and contraction properly ,why ,cos he didnt reach that level of knollage ,why is he one sided ,why did he then close all his Jeet schools before he died 99% of what you see on here is shit but there are gold nuggarts if you look hard enough and they make all the shit worth it

Kung Fu? Basically means an art form, it may be dancing or being a gymnast. Like saying martial arts vs Wing Chun which is also another martial art. Perhaps is better to say Shaolin animal stye vs Shaolin Wing Chun style because Wing Chun also originated from Shaolin.
Southern Shaolin not northern ,it came from white crane ,snake and one other that i cant remember
Kung fu is the name of this style of fighting . Wing Chin is one of the styles of fighting within it.
Happy New Year of 2023.
Plus it just prove that Bruce Lee was better than Wong Jack Man…
@nicholasgreen339 Bruce Lee was very briefly trained in Tai Chi chune but said it was too slow and it was then switched to Wing Chun at age 14 trained by Yipman.
This video is really about shaolin vs wing chun. One problem with wing chun is it works mainly at close range.
That is because you have a limited approach of WC. It is a complete martial art, you have long range techniques as well as close range and grappling.
To me, if a person can reach you with a punch or a kick, then its close range, no matter what style a person uses.
@@academieshaolinwingchun so, to be clear, wing Chun teaches some grappling?
@@troyelam8978 Absolutely. The problem or limitation doesn't come from the system but the instructor. They usually have poor knowledge in grappling, thus they don't teach it and people assume WC doesn't have graplling.
Same for long range fight, that's why people claim WC is short range fighting system, while it covers the 3 ranges.
@@academieshaolinwingchun why are there so few teachers who teach wing chun correctly? There must be some thing that’s causing all of these teachers to teach them properly. I can only guess it’s because they were taught this way. What should someone asked for to ensure they are getting correcto Wing Chun.
As informative as this was, it was not what I thought it was going to be.
I thought it was going to be two masters facing off
@@chrischriskidnicky6088 Same.
Ummm last time I checked Wing Chung is a form of kung-fu 🤦🏾♂️
King fu and WuShu mean the same thing in Chinese, wing chun is a style of wushu
I did Wing Chun for 10 years. It is a great martial art.
Hi I have sone questions I hope you respond 🙂:
Is wing chun an effective martial art in fights?
Can I actually fight and use it street fight or I'll lose?
Also is it effective against boxing or judo?
@@artromeda 99% of the times, the enemy has weapons. you will lose. except in 1v1 fights you can probably win by the reflexes of training and etc... judo destroys wing chun. judo fighters will simply ignore the pain of some hits and put you on the ground
@@gamerprecario yeah already realized and now I'm mixing wing chun with muay thai and judo and it's becoming invincible
Thanks anyways
@@artromeda you are correct......most people don't understand that you must be proficient in many different types of martial arts/style. I am trained in Kung Fu, (Shaolin), Judo, Jujitsu, and Karate. If a fight lands you on the ground, you still can defend yourself. The best technique is to NEVER GET INTO A FIGHT!! "Seek peace always, but if the soul is threatened, then let the soul become a warrior".
who was your teacher ,you must have reached Sihing level yeah
Wing Chun is a form of Kung Fu. It was developed in Shoaling in the 17th century where many of the other Kung Fu styles where developed. You do have the origin of Kung Fu correct though
there are many styles of kung fu and one of them is wing chun
Kung Fu means Mastery of.. A Kung Fu Master Of Law is a Lawyer. A well trained warrior is a Kung Fu Master of martial arts. Wing chun is one of many styles available. Read up on Jimmy H Woo, to learn about a true Master of martial arts.
Wing Chun is the most simple and effective martial arts for any challenging situations.
Yes it's very direct!
Wing Chun it's so good, Bruce Lee drop it 👍
Next up, can you compare Goju-Ryu to Karate?
Kung Fu in Cantonese means Skill... But in northern China martial arts is called Wushu... For example Wing Chun style vs Tung Tzu Kung style from Shaolin instead of Kung Fu...There's so many styles of martial arts in China which Wing Chun style is one part of them...😊
Wing Chun is Snake,Crane, and Chin Na.Cant get anymore Kung Fu than that.
Love your channel
Wing Chun is also a style of Kung Fu...
0nly 3 i know form china kung fu.sholin. Wing chun. Mybe wing chun is kung fu
Yeah, the video is about 2 styles of kung fu. The Wing chun kung fu, and the Kung fu Kung fu.😛
KUNG FU US A RESPECTED ART A BUDDHIST OR WING CHUN U CAN'T COUNTER
Wing chun is a form of kung fu (a skill learned through practice)
Good job having a go at explaining the many intricacies and styles of the fighting arts. Wing Chun is included in the Chinese definition of Kung Fu as Kung Fu means hard work and that is what you will be signing up for if you wish to attain any level of skill in the martial arts.
Years of focus dedication and clean honest living.

What I don't understand is that years ago, another video showed that a *boxer* could knock out a kung-fu master out! Without kicking! 😵💫😖😣 The point of that old video was: any fighting style is good, but *boxing* is only focused on punching your opponent's lights out...with brute force!
Title ... 🤔
Wing Chun is part of Kung Fu. Those who don't know this, don't know Chinese martial arts basics.
THE SYSTEM WON'T LET ME PERFECT MY STYLE SO SAD THO I'M MAD NOW Y SU CHEN DONG YA . 😊❤

Kung Fu = Mastery / Great skill

Wing chun is kung fu…
Wing Chun are no screaming, no free style, no hardly way techniques. Simple but unique hits.
@nicholasgreen339 , the best of Wing Chun signature are both block and proper counter punch.

Ya there is this is what I grew up doing my father was a grand master in kung Fu and as to wing chung talk to simu Fong in Tucson all about my father he will tell you some that was his teacher as well
@@gregoryhouse3239 I nvr said I was a master of anything so let's get that straight right now and your response isn't even accurate from what I said

So happy he does not say wing chuuun anymore
Thanks for that!
It's not the art but how the practitioner grows in his self-confidence and mastery of the art and development of fighting heart and character
I used Long Fist and others. Never lost a street fight.
The fact Kung fu at the beginning was represented by a man wearing a Gi.
isn't wing chun just kung fu but a diffrent style?

😂😂😂😂😂
Fun fact:wingchun is a kungfu style
What is the name of the films about the beginning of shaolin Kung fu and wing chun?
Wing Chun is Kungfu. Kungfu is what you do to be good at Wushu. And their are many different forms of Chinese martial arts or Wushu. You need to learn what words mean.
Wing chun is kung fu. Seriously
Wing Chun is a form of kung fu. I enjoy your videos

OK the translation of king fu from Chinese is “merit master”. As explained by my my Chinese sifu many years ago “skills developed through practice”. He gave an example at the restaurant meeting we had after every class. The chef has kung fu in his cooking skills.
Dude, Wing Chun IS Kung Fu. Kung Fu is an umbrella term for many styles.
This is like saying Karate vs Kuikushin.
In the IP Man movies, there are several fights of Wing Chun vs Kung Fu. Very interesting topic!!
I take Choy Lay Fut KungFu our Grand Master is Tat Mau Wong he used to host KungFu theater
Wing chun is either choreography play or movie. You never actually see a wing chun fight
You do know Wing Chun is Kung Fu right? "Wing Chun Kung Fu". Lol
Strong footwork? Only in movies, because what characterizes wing chun is lack of mobility and footwork.
I find the title of this video redundant and silly because Wing Chun is
a Kung Fu style like north/south shaolin, baji quan, chang quan, tai chi, choy lei fat, and hung gar
Er....Wing Chun IS a southern style of Kung Fu.
Although to be fair I probably should have watched the video before posting that comment 😅
Wing Chun vs Kung Fu is like Austrians vs Germans...
