Talia Kelly just saw your comment as I just watched the finale and decided to listen to this again and it made my afternoon reading that iv been through a lot with physical and mental pain in my life like everyone so looking at that made me have hope :)
My favorite's always been Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold. I don't know why I don't give up hope for him being redeemed, but I think that it's because the actor Robert Carlyle does such a fantastic job of portraying the character as a very broken man who wants to be good, but was cursed for so long that he really doesn't always know how to do so by letting go of his happiness, even when he's got it right it in his grasp. I just can't help, but sympathize with him. I love him and Belle together, and I think that she will ultimately help to redeem him now that the curse is gone, though I'm sure that it's going to be an uphill battle for a while.

It's sad when I see everyone hate on him, but I still have hope in him, just like Belle, and I always will :) Truthfully, I want it to be smooth sailing from here on out now that the Dark One's Curse is out of him and he can finally find that happy ending it ultimately took him 300 years to obtain :)

It's funny, because if Rumple and Regina were real people, most of us would probably hate them, and say they don't deserve happiness. However, this show is fantasy, the actors are fantastic, and RC and LP makes us hate to love them, and want to see them get a happy ending, anyway.
Of course, I do too, but I hate how A&E have been writing his character since 3B. It's like they have forgotten to inform viewers that Rumplestiltskin is a very human and relatable antihero/anti-villain with very emotionally complex motives that often relate to wanting to protect his family and to cover up his insecurities. He doesn't want to be evil at all, and he always has a deeper purpose that goes far beyond just a one-dimensional lust for power. However, with how plot versus character driven the show has become since 3B, it feels like he's become really OOC now that we hardly get that same well-developed sympathetic insight that humanizes his character every time he backslides.

I absolutely love love LOVE Once Upon A Time. It is such an amazing, and clever show. I Anticipate watching it every Sunday night with my mom.
