Quantum Leap: Al & Beth dance/Sam and Beth finale (re-cut/upscaled in 4K)

- The dancing scene between Al and Beth in Season 2's episode "M.I.A." is one of my favorite moments from the entire series. Just for fun, I seamlessly edited that scene with the final scene of the series (where Sam leaps into Beth's living room as she is still dancing) Watching it as one continuous sequence is very interesting, especially when you view it through Beth's eyes. She is thinking about Al, playing their song, and then starting to finally start to grieve his death, only for a man to appear in her living room to tell her that Al is actually still alive. Prior to the serie's finale scene (from episode "Mirror Image"), I feel like that was the moment she finally started to move on with her life.
In addition to the editing the scenes together, I upscaled the scenes to 4K resolution using an A.I. upscaler. It also removed most of the noise/artifacts and film stutter. I then color-corrected and sharpened the image.

Heartbreaking... What a fantastic job both Dean Stockwell and Susan Diol did with this scene, to capture the emotional pain of a man so in love with his first wife, but who he hasn't seen for 25 years... I cry every time watching...

Al never stopped loving Beth. In the original timeline, they only divorced because she thought he was dead and remarried. None of the other exes in Al's life could compare to Beth.

Scene opens
Al and Sam are talking outside Beth and Al’s home. The entire scene. All along they are cutting back to present day. Janice finally sees the moment Al had never talked about. The moment were Sam saves Al and Beth’s’ marriage. Janice knew that Sam had a hand it in but didn’t know to what extent. Georgia plays in the background as AD finds out she is here because she is the last link, without her Sam will always be lost leaping.
Finale,
Bar scene
Sam comes back and remembers being there. Tells the bartender you said if I wanted I could and I never did.
Bartender: is that what I said or is that what you wanted to hear.
Sam if I may call you that, you have leaped so many times and done so much why would we want you to go home.
Sam remembers back to that 1st scene fondly and says I miss home.
Sam: Again you said I could leap back but I never did.
Bartender looking shocked at Sam says this
Bartender: You said leap Sam not go home but leap. If you really wanted to stop you could have decades ago but you didn’t.
The bar goes silent and the people disappear
Bartender: The wrongs that you leapt into needed to be corrected in your mind so you leaped. But the one wrong that needed to be corrected, was never a wrong in your mind.
After a pause and smile by Sam
Sam: Me Leaping to home
Bartender: shrugs
Bartender: Sam you made the leap, and from here on out a leap has to be made. Once you have opened sealed box you just can’t put a lid back on it. You’re at a cross roads right now. Time and future hang in your hands. By now you have figured out your eulogy has already been written and said. Very few know you are out in the cosmos righting wrongs. The ones that do are trying to bring you home. So you now have a choice.
Ben AD and Ziggy set down next to Sam at the bar.
Bartender: Do you allow them to keep leaping to find you or do you shut this down. Is it going to be you righting wrong or is it going to be you allowing others to right wrongs in hopes that they find you and bring you home.
Sam smiles, leaps the screen fades to black
Quantum Leap was the best!! If you a fan, feel this one, I sure did... The "Mirror Image" episode was the one for me, that hit me. I Just wished Sam wouldve Leaped Home...

No way Sam ever was going home. Damn I knew that in season two. The show would just not have been the same.
In Timeline B, Beth might have recognized Sam Beckett in 1986 as the man who was just 9 years younger than the man who appeared in her house in 1969 and persuaded her to wait for Al.
What was significant about 1986?

Значит если тогда же в 1970 году Эл вернулся и Эл женился на Бет - это кстати Сэм вселился в тело молодого Эла, чтобы помочь)). Дальше из 1970 года Сэм снова прыгнул куда-то - то ли в прошлое, то ли в будущее, в общем душа Сэма стала прыгать туда-сюда в пространстве и времени. А потом через много-много лет душа Сэма растворилась по разным линиям времени. Что касается изменённой судьбы Эла, дальше с 1970 года прошло 39 лет, то есть если правильно посчитать - получается самый-самый конец сериала Квантовый скачок (по хронологии всего сюжета) - это 2009 год, что на момент 2009 года Эл и Бет счастливо прожили много лет (39 лет). Напомню ещё, что в сериале Квантовый скачок, даже 1 сезон, 1 серия - по сюжету это был 1995 год, когда Сэм запустил проект Квантовый скачок
I hate when he goes to hug but can only pass thru. I love the show and it was a truly exceptional ending. Cuz Al is indeed out there ...the road leads back to Al, as did most of the show, not to Sam

Excellent performance and emotion. There is a small chance we might see Sam Beckett again, as Scott Bakula does watch the new series. If he would agree to come in for an episode or two provided the new series renews for season 3, we could find out what happens to Sam and fans will get a new closure for his character. Here is hoping the studio renews for season 3 and more audience finds that show to renew. Perhaps Sam found love and a family somewhere in time and stopped leaping but who knows. Up to the writers and our imagination. The thing I don't get is how Ziggy decides the leap from person to person. Is there a cosmic "god" entity helping Ziggy to find people in need? Did they suggest a "God" connection in the original series? I am only watching more of original now. Watched all the new series though.

Do you remember the episode at the end where Sam tells Beth he's coming home? Did you notice the picture in the background "leaped" with the blue light?
Secondly, the episode where Sam leaps into a younger Al. Did you notice he let younger Al outside the chamber and let him leap into himself? Meaning Sam's body (or soul) leaped twice
On a side note, why then was Lisa no longer in Al's life since she now clearly lives (wasn't he madly in love with her)? Is Beth his true love or Lisa from the episode (even though she was married).
I think Al's birthday and wedding anniversary are going to be key dates. Also the sole daughter on the show right now is said to be the youngest. What happened to the other three? Last episode said he had four daughters
I really want to see Sam’s daughter in the new series. And of course, find a way to hire Bakula and bring Sam home!!

Such a loyal fan to this show, but I loved and hated the ending, tbey should have done a 2 hour tv movie to endnit where Sam(Scott Bacula) returns home for good.

@BestSolarLights I never saw anything prior to the series finally, that would have given this explanation.
Which is why I stated, I loved and hated the ending for such a loved character and show. We don't get many truly special shows that last lifetimes and this was one of them.

Al, was flawed _ were he was in love with every woman he saw. But his true was and always will be Beth. For that al's, sexual lust for other women will be forgiven. Anyone agree???.
