They've been arresting kids here in Tennessee for it, it was recently made a class E felony to make a threat of mass violence against a school. The kids are required to be expelled for a year in addition to being arrested and having a criminal record. Frankly I think the parents should be punished too or at least have their identities shown all over the news, if the kid is 16 then they're old enough to know better but if an 11yo is making a freaking bomb threat to multiple schools, it's at least partially the parents' fault. No, humiliation isn't how you raise kids. That's the far right way like those who have their children kill a cat or a dog to teach them about life. Consequences yes, legal issues for parents yes, PR stunt humiliating a 11 year old, NO WAY. That's NOT how this kid will learn, humiliation is the very first step of a vengeance loop that can last his whole life. Kids this age learn by example, not by being humiliated even if what he did was very wrong. If he was 13 or 14 it would start to be different. Not at 11.
@@martmet8688 unfortunately you can’t avoid that accountability and repercussions are almost always embarrassing but always effective. This is exactly how the kid will learn because he will remember how unpleasant it was.
I actually think this is a good idea. People in the community should have a right to know when threats are made and who's made them. Too bad if this follows the kid around for the rest of his life and ruins his employment opportunities. You don't like it, then be a better parent. Better safe than sorry, I say.

I am sooo glad to see you guys covering Chitwood. There aren't many of us blue voters in Volusia County down here, but even we love Mike and all he's done for our region.
Acting like a Nazi to kids, isn't how you earn respect. It's counter productive and people in the US need to start looking elsewhere where this kind of stuff does not happen. Kids become parents, and their kids will have the same attitude toward violence and guns. To break the loop you need to stop PR stunts like these who will humiliate 11 yo kids and lead by example. This is not how you resolve the problem. Humiliated kids eventually reproduce humiliation techniques to others and might turn to exactly to what they are treated.
Education start from home. If parents failed tht, then let the authority educate them both, parents and their kids, before they start killing other ppl children, where parents have done their job well in parenting.
What can we expect when a former president and current Republican candidate for president is the most well known bully in the world who won't say a word against guns because his pockets are stuffed with NRA dollars
It's about time someone has the guts to stop coddling these kids. I fully support Sheriff Chitwood and hope more law enforcement agencies follow suit. If people don't like it, they can start raising their kids to be better citizens.
Honestly, it's needed. There has been so many shootings, shooting threats and bomb threats lately it's crazy. Well not that crazy since we're in the US after all but still. My little siblings had to go on lockdown this past week. Parents need to start taking some responsibility over their gun ownership and the access their kids have to them. And they need to teach their kids that the internet is not some safe space for you to act crazy cause they are not playing around with you these days.
Yea doing prep walk like that won't " scare the child straight" all it will do is marginalise him even further and make him even more likely to actually carry out an attack. Arrest him yea but shaming a child only puts a stigma on them and they only become what you say they are and won't be able.to.change. This is nothing more than a fully grown man bullying a child. Arrests are needed shaming him are not.....
@@nonyabusiness366 Hard disagree. We are far beyond the point of putting on the kid gloves with this stuff. Every single day it feels like I hear about a new shooting. Honestly, not just kids but adults too need to start seeing the consequences of their actions when it comes to this. It is essentially domestic terrorism and I don't care what age you are if you are threatening the lives of others. Clearly whatever is in place currently is not working and the government has been largely ineffective on this issue for more than a decade. I don't think it's crazy to think that you should be shamed for threatening to kill people and inciting public panic. Maybe some other kids will see this and think twice. Maybe some parents will see this and actually start being better parents.
My kids middle school just had similar threats too. My kid was terrified and didn’t want to go to school. All we had been told was that they received school discipline. I could not convince my child that it was safe to go to school. I wish I had something like this to reassure my child that the threat was taken seriously and that we had every reason to believe it would be safe to go to school.
As a former Florida public school teacher, this is a good cop. I've seen what's happening in these schools, and I'll just say it was enough to make me leave to homeschool my own kids. These kids need some consequences and the parents will fight even the most mild of consequences the schools give.
Wait so issues don’t start at home and just automatically start when the kid goes to school? A lot of the issues are caused because there’s lack of discipline at home lack of attention at home parents not recognizing mental health issues. Every issue a kid has starts at home with the parents. Your kid must’ve done something bad and that’s why YOU are blaming the country as a whole.
But if PARENTS are held accountable, they WILL figure out that it's better to be safe than sorry....especially if sorry means both of them get to wear matching orange jumpsuits!
I remember back when, seeing a rifle above the bed of a teenager was common, and seeing a shotgun and or rifle in the back of a student's vehicle at high school was normal; I attended Calabasas High in Calabasas California late 70's early 80's. I had relatives in the South who after school were expected to take their .410s or .22lrs and find dinner in the woods as young as 8 or 9yrs old. There were no school shootings back when it was common to see children under 10 hunting small game or seeing high school students with long guns in their vehicles; what changed? I gave my granddaughter a Rugar 10-22 and a Rugar SR22 when she was 9yrs old; her parents providing supervision whenever she shoots, and she attends a private high school with a scholarship that has a rifle team with on campus training.
I can remember even in the early 90's there was shotguns in the back window of pickup trucks in the student and the teachers parking lots. Not once did one of those guns get pulled out for a fight or school shooting. Back then people would fist fight and go on about their day, but today people are scared to get their butts kicked so they pull a gun. I think any man under 50 without some sort of disability that pulls a weapon in a fight is not a man but a pussycat .... Remove cat though lol But you are absolutely right though, I got my daughter and son a 4-10 when they were 8 and 9. They were thought to handle and respect firearms and were supervised any time they were handling a firearm.
I grew up in southern Oregon in the 80's. We would leave high school at lunch to go hunt birds for a half hour. Friends and I would be walking around the woods with our .22's, when were like 12. Stuff like this was unheard of.

Scared straight all over again x 2000!! I love it!
Do this also apply to 35 year old children doing the same, too?
“Cause you don’t wanna raise your kid? Sheriff Chitwood is gonna raise them.”
😍😂🤣👏🙏
Jaja!
How did his kids turn out?
Sheriff Matt is your daddy now!!!😂😂😂
Press charges against all these parents they are responsible they need charged also
I actually think this is a good idea. People in the community should have a right to know when threats are made and who's made them. Too bad if this follows the kid around for the rest of his life and ruins his employment opportunities. You don't like it, then be a better parent. Better safe than sorry, I say.
Yep
Children don’t have the mental capacity to understand their actions or consequences
The parents are at fault for allowing a child to have an arsenal and not supervising him properly
I am sooo glad to see you guys covering Chitwood. There aren't many of us blue voters in Volusia County down here, but even we love Mike and all he's done for our region.
Love this Floridian anti-nazi sheriff. Show some respect.
Kind of authoritarian though
He's a RWer. Just like the Nazis.
The sheriff did say he was going to start perp walking parents of these kids as well.
Its domestic terrorism
What can we expect when a former president and current Republican candidate for president is the most well known bully in the world who won't say a word against guns because his pockets are stuffed with NRA dollars
Can the costs of these investigations be charged to the parents?
Did they hire more people to do investigations? No everyone is getting paid anyway and in Florida there’s probably not overtime involved
Yes, and they are going to get a huge restitution bill.
I love what the Sheriff is doing because “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”.
His name is Chitwood, not Chitwouldn't!
What parent gives their kids access to weapons like that?
Lauren Boebert.
Yes we like it! What we are doing is not working. Wake these people up!
It's about time someone has the guts to stop coddling these kids. I fully support Sheriff Chitwood and hope more law enforcement agencies follow suit. If people don't like it, they can start raising their kids to be better citizens.
Finally, the worst parents are not allowed to unleash their monster kids onto society.
Extreme times call for extreme measures.
If the kid aimed a fake gun at a police man or any adult with a gun, the kid would likely be shot! Who knows from a distance if its a fake gun.
THANK YOU SHERIFF!!! About dang time, the child and the parents need to get their pictures EVERYWHERE !!
Your little cherubs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think it’s a wonderful idea. I think kids nowadays need to learn and understand the FAFO concept.
Well maybe raise your kids correctly and they won’t be going to jail!!!
Maybe if this had happened to that kid in Georgia, maybe his dad wouldn't have bought him an AR despite all the red flags his kid exhibited.
Good we have got to do better by the kids ! ! ! 💯
As a former Florida public school teacher, this is a good cop. I've seen what's happening in these schools, and I'll just say it was enough to make me leave to homeschool my own kids. These kids need some consequences and the parents will fight even the most mild of consequences the schools give.
Omg they arrested a white kid!
Yea it's outrageous and they let all these black kids run amok
Juvenile detention centers are full of white kids.
I am so glad he’s our sheriff. Nicest guy but he doesn’t play game s
This is something I think the left and the right can agree on
Oh my word.
alot of the issues are not the parents but the issues with the country as a whole
It's the other way around. MOST of the issues are parents. SOME of the issues are with the country.
This is my sheriff and he's really awesome, we love him here. The deputies are awesome too.
Bootlicker. Back the Blue till it happens to you.
Remove cat though lol
But you are absolutely right though, I got my daughter and son a 4-10 when they were 8 and 9. They were thought to handle and respect firearms and were supervised any time they were handling a firearm.
Welcome to end stage capitalism
I grew up in southern Oregon in the 80's. We would leave high school at lunch to go hunt birds for a half hour. Friends and I would be walking around the woods with our .22's, when were like 12. Stuff like this was unheard of.
@@TheBitterSarcasmOfMs.Anthropy
Says someone who only knows about capitalism from those who hates capitalism.
But you're in good company as Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler both hated capitalism, one calling it a philosophy of greed and selfishness as the other called it dangerous.
@@johnbagley5341
What did you do with the birds you killed?
They may not be AR style weapons...yet. No normal 11 yr old has an arsenal like that. If he isn't stopped at 11, who knows what he'd be iike at 14-15.
