  • Does the Icom 7610 NB work good? You be the judge.
I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my UA-cam channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

That noise blanker works great on that interference! Now that you isolated the source of the noise, you can replace the light dimmer!

Amazing! I can't remember having a NB that worked. I guess I will tomorrow when my 7610 arrives.

Yeah, in an good location we wouldn't need one, but I live on a busy street and it knocks out some alternator noise too, hi! I don't use it if I don't have too.

Nice to hear from you and thanks for watching. The NR was 4 and NB Level was 19%, Depth 5 and Width 31. Thanks again and 73!

NB usually works good at killilng electrical interferances... but I don't like how the NR makes the audio flange and sound muffled... I own Icom gear but once you hear the NR on a yeasu radio, you realise that icom nr tech is pretty poor...

I haven't heard it on a Yeasu so thanks for the info. Best to you and yours. 73!

@@HamRadioAdventures you're welcome, and while we talk about noise, have you ever try to completely turn off the RF gain on your icom and listen to the background noise it produce ? on my 7300, it is quite high level noise even with the rf gain completely off to the left.. Strange thing is that if I turn on the preamp, the noise get lower with the rf gain completely turn off.
I noticed that because I have started to reduce the rf gain when I hear really faint stations and I have high noise level, it helps, in my opinion, with the sensitivity of the radio while reducing the noise input and get more headroom for the signal... not sure my explaination is right but this is what I suspect happend...
Now if you try that with a yeasu radio, if you turn off the rf gain, it will be totally silent. It makes quite a difference with the yeasu when you reduce the rf gain to try to get less noise saturation in the receiver and give more headroom for the signal, at least no noise is "added" to the reduced gain of the radio whereas with the icom, noise level is quite high even with low rf gain and I do think high quality radio like the 7610 also "suffer" from this "issue"... I put " " because I think this is not a flaw but rather how the radio software is made.
If you ever have the chance to try that out on your icom, tell me if it does the same thing !

@@Aleziss Yes, and you can visit the Icom 7300 forum in Groups.io and find threads on that. It doesn't worry me. groups.io/g/ic-7300/message/24104

@@HamRadioAdventures I was just pointing that out because that does not occurs also on yeasu radios just like I think NR is better on yeasu radios... and I am an icom user anyway ! that's all I mean to say ! 73

That's just about the sort of noise I'm getting here the my 7610, just filters it right out apart from top band. I use the MFJ 1026 for that.

Hi and thank you for commenting. I have not tried the MFJ noise canceller. Maybe if I get something the 7610 won't work on I can try it. Thank you! 73 - Rich, www.k0pir.us
