- S2, Episode 1: It's New Year's Eve, time for a fresh start. But while everyone else is focused on the future, Megan & Sam are still struggling with their past...

I find Megan to be such a sweet young lady. They are all so inspirational but megan has something about her that is caring and considerate. She very intelligent and articulate despite her disabilities God bless her and all the others 🙏 ❤
Also got a gold medal in the Special Olympics ❤
I find it horrendous that Sam and Megan obviously gravitate to each other and the only reason they aren't together, certainly seems like external thoughts from others.
there's no reason megan doesn't want to be around sam other then "holding her back" ? which she can't explain ?
something tells me megans parents are a big part of this decision, when really, they should be over the moon they are together, they clearly are so happy in each others company.
@@ursus2doppler Yup. Megan seems to come from a "higher class" family.. Which would explain the horseback riding, impressive diction, and her parents telling her things that she disingenuously parrots. That "he is in my way" was painful.
She really is the sweetest thing
Sam is such a kind soul! He also got a pare of balls saying in front of the camera what he really feels deep inside to Megan. That takes some courage! God bless him ❤

These guys have more fulfilling lives than I do and are happier without doubt than most people. There is something very innocent and childlike with these lovely people. I know it would be selfish of me but if they were my children I wouldn't want to change anything about them.
Lewis has the mannerisms and delivery of James Acaster, he is infinitely likeable! Great series

Yes but they are precious souls being used for entertainment purposes. Watch again from 17:22 when megan says she wants to play sandy,then we learn sam wants to play danny.watch through till 18:60 when they pick a different inmate to play danny,and listen to the staff member shouting a fake yaaaaay when she lands the part.These poor kids are being used. This was done so they could film sam and meghans reactions.they are even giving them alcohol for gods sake.It aint right

Lewis reminds me of my autistic little brother Zack, he might have actually been more shy than lewis, but im always finding myself pep talking lewis as i watch. I miss my little brother more than anything and i wish i could've shown him this show before he left this world.
So lovely to see The Specials again! It is incredible to see how far they have come, and how far they continue to achieve in their lives. There is always so much misconception around special needs and this shows that these special members of our community are just as capable as everyone else. With the incredible support The Specials have and their determination they’ll go far. Would love to see more seasons!

Hi Maria, good question! Voiceover was one of the most important and fun parts of making The Specials. We could only get it right by working closely with the guys. In the edit we would come up with a 'guide voiceover' based on the kinds of things they were saying in their interviews. Then we would go to the guys house, show them the episode at the rough cut stage, discuss how they felt and any changes it needed. Once everyone was happy we would build the voiceover booth with the guys in Sam's room - this would take 2 hours - before recording. It was during these voiceover sessions that the words would often change as the guys worked out ways they would more naturally express themselves. Im a bit shocked. I know this is old, but after 2 years of filming again, Sam's speech has gotten worse, and Lewis is more introverted than ever. Closing his eyes now when he talks.

@@Thespecialstvshow Yes & still watching daily! My mother, passed away this past January & I was her caregiver, since 2006. My daughter w/ Schizophrenia, I also am her caregiver. I am going through a lot right now. I am being forced out of my mothers home, as well. So watching "The Specials" makes me feel better. I love all the cast & everybody involved making this possible. Thank you & I cannot wait for season 3. I pray everybody is staying safe as well.

I don’t think Chris should be allowed to date Megan. He seems like he would take advantage of her in many ways. I don’t mean to sound fucked up or anything but he seems almost normal.
