I think it's still better to have a spare and do some sacrificial refine then set some limit on zenny that you're willing to lose on the process haha but what I like on this guide is no additional rituals coz it gives more frustrations and it made me calm every time i hit and didnt feel broke at all.
I manage to get +10 buster axe, +9 dooms axe and +10 luna brooch with this method tonight. ill try again when i have more zeny. thnks for the sharing. =) p/s: but its not working with my avalance (main equip). Yes Pet has its own role , choose pet you think that is lucky. No specific time but i usually do it around 11PM. Don't force to ups item if doesn't give you high success rate that means the item is not for ups that day, select other item like garment offhand or boots
It's up to you, my suggestion is to reset by petting or exit refine screen and wait for perfect timing again. But if you feel the momentum don't hesitate

Good to know that your in the right track. ANSWER --Yes but you may also reset by resting for a while then go back to prontera. In your case that item will not go through if failed twice, my suggestion is stop immediately then go back the other day.

It doesn't work, full RNG. It's reset per weekly limit success, fail, and hidden fail. Another factor depends your stat(skill whitesmith) + %zenny in the bag+ %intimacy pet + %base level - %time server + %limit weekly
