  • The 4th Recruit Training Battalion was deactivated at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, June 15, 2023. The ceremony was a mark on the historical timeline of women in the U.S. Marine Corps.
As we move forward to a fully integrated model of recruit training, we listen to the prominent voices of women within our ranks talk about the historical value of the battalion and how far women have come in the Marine Corps.

There was no true reason for the Marine Corps to do this, it certainly was _not_ necessary. It's the ultimate violation of "If it isn't broken, don't fix it".
Admittedly, the Marines' system of recruit training worked extremely well and was highly effective for over 100 years - therefore, _don't reinvent the wheel_ .
And if *any* organization should understand that concept, considering their mission/values/how they operate-efficiency & productivity, it should be the Marine Corps.
Footage like this in which the brass romanticizes about their history only highlights the foolishness of the decision, only adds to the fact that it doesn't make any sense and is counterproductive. It was the Marine Corps that taught me about good vs bad leadership, and this is a prime example of poor, ineffective leadership from the very top.

THERE ARE REALLY RIGHTEOUS AND PRESTIGIOUS THINGS THAT MADE US AND DEFINED US!!!!! I RAN INTO THIS VALOR THIEF IN ASHEVILLE NORTH CAROLINA, KEEP IN MIND THAT HE TRIED TO SIZE ME UP, BUT ALL HE WAS DOING WAS TRYING TO GET MY COMBAT EXPERIENCE, BUT WHEN HE SAID HE GRADUATED FROM 4TH BATTALION MCRD "THE LAND THAT GOD FORGOT" I SNAPPED

I was apart of the last of 4th battalion. One of the males from 4014, Oscar company, this video has all of us in it. Watching this brought back memories from these days, I recognize mostly everyone. Proud to be part of the last ones. I remember receiving my EGA, everyone crying and that speech from 1st Sargeant afterward was amazing and the most inspirational speech I’ve ever heard. Yes at 3:35 you heard a female recruit get called “spaghetti”.

Platoon 7A of 1976 up! Envy the weapons training of today but those boot camp obstacle course shots were weak. Liked being separated from the men too, they were distracting and always got credit for what we did. Glad I didnt go back. Politic correctness has ruined all branches of the military. Another reunion coming up with my fellow Marines of the Old Corps. Platoon 7A will live forever.

I was the first graduate of 4th BN. We qualified with the M16A2 rifle AND had to endure instruction in makeup application. I literally lift up those women who came after me. My graduation was 23 Jan 1987. Oohrah

It is but because the Marine corps started gender integrating male and females (the reason why 4th battalion is going away) Papa Company was the 1 out of 3 company's in 4th battalion to be selected to start this process. I went to boot camp 20210104, 4th battalion, November Company and while in RCT training came across this company and they were 100% integrated. I hope this was informative

@@Alpha24728 What's "integrated" mean exactly? Are male & female recruits in the same platoon...sharing racks, and standing right next to each other on line in the squadbay?

So they train together now 🤨. I graduated PI in November of 1990 and I can remember then how Congress wanted to integrate training … I remember when Congress said a Woman could serve in a Combat unit … go to Parris Island and just look at the 4th BN obstacle course and the scale of it compared to the Male obstacle course ……
