what if I am moving there for the first time and I just started working? how am I going to get a house I dont know anyone and I dont have 6 month pay slips. what do I do then?
Well, I did this the wrong way, then :D I always told the agents that I will decide if I like it. Also, found a flat which was professionally cleaned and has a dishwasher. Some agencies will try to get more money out of you by first agreeing to your offer and then sending a text message saying there is someone else wanting to pay more. To those guys I always send a message to leave me in peace.
@ Honestly, none of them. Try Chase Evans, Franklyn James, Foxtons, but it is hit&miss. Sometimes you find good agents. You need to be firm on your position and, if something doesn't seem ok, simply speak with another agency. Can't really recommend any of them.
Tricky situations when moving to the UK. I know getting things like a bank account is one. Where you need a address to get a bank account, but you need a bank account to get a place to rent/buy. How do one get around these things?

I've got another question you might be able to answer: how common is it to change carpets and repaint walls in rented flats? Over here it's super normal but I was just wondering if that's something landlords are usually okay with, do you know? Thanks for all your great videos, they're very helpful (:

Hello! I am from the U.S. and am looking at trying to venture out. That being said, where do you find is a good place to live in London? You may have mentioned something on this before, but I am only now finding your videos! I know that there are many different areas of London and I would want to find a safe area with relatively inexpensive rent, (I know that is in constant flux as well..) Transportation would also be a factor, I would hope to be able to use the tube in a relatively effective manner as well. I was also wondering if going to school prior to moving would be a good idea? I have been taking college classes and working on various skill sets, however with college being so expensive, I feel like it would be counter productive to put myself in a position of potential debt and then I fear that I wouldn't be able to travel and move around, outside of the U.S. I realize that the U.S. is different than many other places, and being from Germany it might be hard to answer this question due to the difference in culture. But any sort of information or direction would be helpful, and you seem very well traveled and open to trying to help! I apologize if this is redundant for you to answer, I will continue to watch to see if I can figure it out! I love your videos and they have been fun, informative, and extremely helpful!! Thank you!!

Check with your landlord - normally you wouldn’t be able to do that in a rented place

Yeah for sure! Sometimes you could get away with shorter but then you’re looking for short term let :)

Blaise Titus Flats and apartments have differences for us. Apartments might for example occupy two floors, whilst flats are always on one floor.
