- Thank you to our alpha patron Joel for this great duo pick... both versions of this song were so good... I wish the Temptations version were 3 minutes longer. Such great instrumentation and vocal harmony... and then the Faces versions comes through and absolutely drops the song on its head and just goes wild with it! This was SO cool. I loved both. Now I want to hear more of both of these bands lol

So.... which Faces track are we doing next?? I'm down! let me know!
More Kenny Jones!
You have to do Itchycoo Park! It's the Small Faces, so has Steve Marriott (I believe). Faces songs to do: Stay with Me or Cindy Incidentally, maybe.
"Song of a baker" by the Small Faces preferably the clip from "colour me pop" is a must
@@treehopper1000 yes!
Maggie May
60s Motown, nothing like it. Rare Earth did a great cover of this song in the early70s.
I’ve heard! I can’t wait to hear that version. Sounds wild lol
@@L33Reacts It is!
Rare Earth version is the bomb!
@@glenndespres5317 The best version. By far. Actually I'm shutting down this reaction to go listen to it.
@@L33Reacts Make sure you react to the full album version from the Ecology LP
The group "Faces" taught bands how to really rock their music. Everyone was influenced, from garage bands to the pros.
60s Motown was the sound of driving in the family car; everybody was happy.
The drum solo that always kills me. I really love the studio version but live we get to see him do it! The Faces were an awesome band. I'm so fortunate I got to see them in 72.
There is no reason to wonder why Kenny Jones took over the drumming after Keith Moon left us.Check out faces doing Every Picture tells a Story.
Except that Roger Daltry found Jones’’ drumming simplistic and stifling. Unfair.
Both versions amazing but The Faces... wow fabulous! Haven't seen that bit of film before. What a treat
Next Faces I would suggest would be "Stay With Me", but I'll let others submit. I thought this would be a good drumonday, but it worked well as a double play. I'll just stay with Tull. lol
Kids these days only think of Rod singing sappy love songs. LMAO
Both versions are so good! Thanks Joel, and Lee. :)
Faces are almost a (pre)-supergroup, especially when they were Small Faces, but before any of them were really famous. It's interesting how a lot of these people were so inter-related as far as moving around with one another into and out of different bands back then.
everyone knew each other back then and if they didn't, there was a reason (it seems) lol
@@L33Reacts Yes! So many people, especially across the pond, knew one another, and created and/or joined bands together. Lucky for us they did.
So when l was growing up, my brother , who is 5 yrs. older than me, would listen to nothing but Motown but when he moved out, my rock & roll moved in to stay ✌️😝🎶
Rod is one funny self depreciating guy who dosn't mind being the but of a joke. Iv'e noticed that over the years from all the interviews and talk shows he has been on. He is one rare egg for sure.
Thanks Lee and thanks Joel…LOVE both versions!❤
Faces, one of those great lost bands. They fell apart as members left to join other bands. Rod went solo, Ronnie Wood became a rolling stone and Kenny Jones joined the Who.
Go down the FACES rabbit hole and the FREE rabbit hole too!
Blues/Rock with two of the best and most recognized voices in Rock!
The Temptations are best appreciated with their patented choreography. If you find the live version from The Ed Sullivan Show or The Hollywood Palace you'll see the real, REAL power of this hit song.
Great song, two great performances, and a great reaction. Also, don’t worry about having to do a quick check as to whether someone is still alive. So many classic rock icons are leaving us, it feels like a daily or weekly event. When Tina Turner passed a year or so ago, the first thing I did was double check that she had outlived her abusive ex-husband Ike Turner.
“I’m going down a faces hole.” LMAO
Can't go wrong with either band or early Rod.
Hey Lee from Ned in Spain. A very cool idea to contrast different interpretations of a classic song. We love the Temptations but the Faces ramped up blaster is a winner. The first version of this band was the Small Faces who played amped up R n B / Soul and Rock then drifted into Psychedlia and put out a mountain of great singles, EPs and LP's. When original singer / guitarist Steve Marriott left they added Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood and changed the name to the Faces. Marriott's next band was the mighty Humble Pie. All of these bands are worth your attention.
The bad boys of Tamla Motown . There is a first class four hour drama based on The Temptations that came out a few years ago which is well worth watching
The Faces were terrific but Rod chose to go solo and over time lost his rock n roll edge , Mick Jagger’s solo efforts were also questionable . I believe that the only lead singer to leave a successful band and improve was Peter Gabriel
Hey Lee, you probably know already but Kenny was the drummer who succeeded Keith Moon in the Who. Never quite gelled like expected but still speaks to how good he was
Ronnie Wood in there giving it his all. Look where he ended up
Let's go down the Stones rabbit hole!
The Faces are one of the greatest rock and roll bands.
The Faces live rivalled the Who. They would all get drunk and have a party. Next, try Maybe I'm Amazed - you'll be amazed too! To give you an idea of their quality as musicians, when they broke up Ronnie Wood joined the Stones, keyboard player Ian MacLagan joined the Stones touring band, Kenney joined the Who, Rod went hugely solo and bass player Ronnie Lane - who sadly passed away from MS - formed his own band, Slim Chance, and also joined forces with Pete Townshend to make a memorable record, Rough Mix.
My favorite Rod song, OK Faces song. ❤😊
The background music made staying almost impossible, but I muddled through.
Ronnie Lane on bass! Great start for Rod Stewart's catalog. His earlier work is much better than his later stuff, imho. Thanks for your reactions to the great music of my life!
Motown rocked!
I think the quintessential Motown track is The Parliaments - I Wanna Testify
My oldest sib was into Vanilla Fudge and Cheer
I've always liked the faces version the most ✌️
Yes they do a great job with this song.. yet you would be remiss if you don't to listen to the best version of I'm Losing you by.. Rare Earth .. (long version)
Maybe check out Rare Earths version of this, he Long one! Will Not disappoint, I Promise...if it helps, Rare Earth was also on Motown--but that is part of the story for you to discover...lol...Great react! Keep on keepin on!
You know it. The long version of the Rare Earth version is awesome!
If you have another Temptations track you think I might like, please leave it below! I am keen to listen to more now :)
Ball of confusion! Eddie Kendrick & Dennis Edwards are the only two lead singers of the Temptations I listen to.
David Ruffin abused my goddess and hit her in the head with a motorcycle helmet. Looking at him in those glasses, all I see is a wimp who hits women.
"Ball of Confusion" is a MUST. Thanks for all the great reactions, L33. Blessings.
I Can't Get Next To You
Yes Ball of confusion please
“It Was Just My Imagination” for Temptations and “I’d Rather Go Blind” for Rod. Both great songs!
Shoulda made it a 3'fer with Rare Earth's version! 👍😁
Thats Ronnie Woods on the quitar now.
You really need to listen to the Rare Earth version of this song.
Rod is 79 now.
Omg. The Faces version has such a Peter Frampton sound to it. Speaking of Frampton, please try your best to find the live version of the song "Do You Feel Like We Do. Even though the Midnight Special version of the song is good, you've just gotta try to dig up a way to put up the live version of the song. It was the one that was on the album. Electric. Peter Frampton is a top-rate guitarist. In the top 20 guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. Sorry to digress. I know you're going to react to one of his songs. It's subpar with "Do You feel like We Do".
do the Rear Earth I Know im losing you
In my honest opinion, Rare Earth did the best version of I'm Losing You. Stay With Me by Faces is a rocker and one of my all-time favorites.
Whe-hew!!
The Faces were the best live band of their time. (Yes, even better than The Who, though it was a close run thing.)
I liked Rare Earth's remake of "(I Know) I'm Losing You" better than these.
Other great Faces songs by the second main songwriter of the Band - "Richmond" or "Debris" sung by the late great Ronnie Lane. And for you to know Ronnie was seen as the leader of the Faces for a long time until Rod kinda took over the Band. And in my opinion both Rod Stewart and Ron Wood were never better than with the Faces.
This track, and this live performance is peak Faces............great band that could also be a drunken sloppy mess.....but nevertheless peak Ron Wood, Peak Rod Stewart......peak everyone in the band. There were a lot of people mad at Rod when his solo career scuppered this band. What a tone he had to his voice at this time.
Rod Stewart was a blinding performer.
Temptations (Good) Faces (Good) Rare Earth (Most Awesome) Rare Earth's rendition is 11:00 minutes. Psychedelic rock. Check out in you free time Rare Earth - I'm Losing You - ua-cam.com/video/F28X8--2dFU/v-deo.html
shit i might have to do it now. it was brought up in the live chat too. sounds awesome lol
@@L33Reacts I brought it up in live chat. You will not regret. Actually you might start to trip out.
Studio version of the Faces cover is a "must".
You missed Ronnie Lane (bass) from the Faces line-up. He left the band in 1973 to pursue a solo career, forming his own band Slim Chance, which had a couple of hits ("How Come" and "The Poacher) and he later collaborated on an album with Pete Townshend from The Who. Sadly, in 1977 he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and after moving to the United States he died there in 1997.
Temptations are amazing! Go with their late sixties, early seventies, after this particular album. Their "Psychedelic Soul" years are the best Motown songs ever!
The Faces were one of the best live acts of the 70s. I got to see them in 1972. Amazing show. Rod was great, the band was tight. Ronnie Wood does not get to stretch out like he did with Faces. Very memorable show. This song was originally from Rod's solo album Every Picture Tells A Story...Oh yeah, another one of those great albums from 1971. I highly recommend a full album reaction for this one.
So so great! I LOVE ROD SO MUCH. But I grew up on temptations, but as a your 13 yr old on up... "Every Picture Tells A Story" one of my fav albums still to this day. 55 years ago... Lol
Great reaction Lee. Next check the Faces “Ogden’s Nut Gone” (1968) one of the first “concept albums” after the Beatles “Sgt. Pepper” with narration by one of England’s eccentric actors on one side. You’re in for a real treat bro! Carry on.
love rod Stewart
Another cover of this song is by Rare Earth. I think they also did a good job with it and it's worth checking it out . Great reaction !
Enjoyed the reaction!
glad to hear it :D this was an awesome video.
Rare Earth’s version is way better in every way.
Try Mandolin wind next time
Thanks Joel and Lee. So many rabbit holes, how is it even possible to listen to it all? Motown can be an entire year of reactions and you would still have more to go. Dear God Lee, what will you do, what will you do? 😊
Awesome picks Lee!
I saw The Faces in 1975. It was their last tour and they warmed up for Peter Frampton (pre- Frampton Comes Alive). If you get a chance, check out A Nod is as Good as a Wink! Excellent Faces album.
When I saw you reacting to the Tempting Temptations “”I Know I’m Losing You” I said great. Faces is a bonus. The live version is possibly better than the LP version. Kenny Jones was great. When you get time, listen to the studio version by Rare Earth, the first Caucasian band signed by Motown. Come on, do the trifecta.
By the way did you notice the similarities between the Faces sound and attitude and the 1990s band the Black Crowes ?
My favorite Temps song is Can't Get Next To You. Great song and all the Temptations get to stand out on the song
Love the Temptations original, but as an old rocker the faces version really does it for me!!!!
Kenny Jones also played with The WHO I forgot what the year was. At Shea stadium.
Oh wow, I totally forgot this was Motown. I should’ve known. Bad on me.😂
Give a listen the Rae Earth's version.........My favorite.
Yes, thanks again, Joel!
Ronnie laine , bass was brilliant, made splendid albums himself
Someone should do cloud 9. It's easily in their to 5 songs.
Rod's version wasn't dipped in honey, it was skinned and dipped in vinegar
If it's not ok, you need to say it. Just a little advice from an old man. Love ya bro!
Rare Earth would make it a 3 way banger banger banger.
Check out Stay With Me from that same Faces show.
Rare Earth cover is really good!!
This is one helluva great song.
My favorite Rod era.
Good stuff! ❤
For a Motown suggestion try When the Hunter gets Captured by the Game by the Marvelettes 1966. The superior Mono version is on UA-cam. Song is written by Smokey Robinson. The faces were a great band
i'll check it out, thank you hartlor! i agree, this was a great performance. i want to hear more from them for sure.
@@L33Reacts motown was a real In-House operation with their own writers singers and band. Like this Marvelettes song I suggested it was written and recorded by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles but with the good songs they let everyone take a crack at it until one gets a hit. The tours were funk brothers house band and the singers would change. It’s amazing how different it all is while being all the same people.
