Years ago I went to Germany/Europe I loved the open markets, the rivers right in town, thatched roofing, fields, the pace of the towns...so much was structured so you could walk/bike/bus to your destination.. and it was so clean! Even the busses. No idea what its like now. But its a memory I will treasure.
Yes, these are the things I wish I learned growing up. The traditional SKILLS of cooking.. I am lost without a recipe. So much of what I ate came out of a "box" growing up.
Now that it’s fall, I will again use butternut squash to make squash soup. I use broth that I make with smoked turkey wings. I add some carrots, butter, and - of course - garlic. This is a winter staple here. I clean the squash seeds, dry them, put them on a plate, sprinkle on a bit of Kikkoman soy sauce and stir them up, add garlic powder, and nuke them in 5-7 each 1minute stunts, breaking everything loose in between nukings. These have been a treat for my Granddaughter for years n years. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
The tomatoes you had never seen before was probably an "oxheart" variety. The oxheart varieties are lower in acid, meaty with fewer seeds. When you hold one it really looks like a heart. (a real heart not a ❤️) they are my favorites. I eat them like you would an apple, out of hand. They never make it into a recipe because everyone in our house loved them raw. You were lucky to find them they are not often sold to the public. I haven't grown any in years because it used to be difficult to find seedlings for sale. Maybe now with the internet, finding seeds will be easier. Makes me want to grow tomatoes again! Maybe a couple of pots in the balcony? 🤔
Such a great vlog, I loved the adventure to the farmer's market and a day with you doing everyday things. You may like coconut mile to your squash, it's yummy.
This was such a lovely video. The narration and soft music was perfect...as well as your lovely presentation. Thank you for taking us along. I thoroughly enjoyed it all. ( love your horse too!)

Love the bags you have for the vegetables! What are they called (just mesh bags)?
