I live in Seattle. Back in the day a local rock station would have cheap concerts. Pat benetar was one of those. Virtually unknown to the rock world, she graced the stage at the concert. Concert goers were there because of the 99 cent tickets, but left with a million dollar performance experience.
Seeing Pat and Neil in person this Friday in Las Vegas. Saw them last fall her voice is still solid and both still rock HARD. If you get the chance to see a living legend don’t pass it by.

my first ever concert attendance. pat benatar, portales New Mexico 1981? maybe '82? me and some fellow boy scouts procured the scout masters station wagon whilst on a nearby campout. left after lights out, and returned without incident, unnoticed. all four of us went on to become eagle scouts. icing on the cake.....tickets cost each of us $8.50 at the door and a buck or two each for gas to avoid the scout master noticing missing gas. good times!

Kinda frustrating she doesn't perform this live any longer. Growing up (I'm 55), I never associated this song with guns or violence of any sort. (is it not obvious it's about a painful breakup?) Pat always gets props as one of the best female rockers but I think she's just a great rock artist full stop. Some of the best rock vocals ever with a great guitarist and great drummer. Neil Giraldo( her guitarist/ husband) and Myron Grombacher (drummer) are both great rockers that both played with Rick Derringer previously. The band you just watched can kick out some rock and roll. Heartbreaker, You Better Run, Fire and Ice, Precious Time, All Fired Up, Hell is For Children, Shadows of The Night, We Live for Live and Everbody Lay Down are all great rock songs, and she has a buch of others that are radio friendly too, even if they aren't classic rock bangers.
