I just woke up in Toronto and started watching your video which feels like a journey back home to Azerbaijan when I used to visit Shaki over and over❤ Thank you for putting a smile on my face. P.S. you really look pretty wearing those scarves. I used to smuggle them into USA for my friends 😊
I loved this series, I love all of them. The weather you had was incredible! I loved the scarf you chose, I really liked the green one too. Thank you for showing us all these wonderful places. Where to next?
One thing about glass which you have seen in the beginning. That called Shabaka (in Azerbaijani “şəbəkə”). Crucial part is there is no glue, nail during preparation. Each single part held neighbor one and at the end of preparation, all held one another
Second thing about scarf. This is traditional Azerbaijani scarf. Name of that one is Kalaghayi (in Azerbaijani “Kələğayi”). It is made of silk, in the ancient time people prepared everything manually. Even you can find handmade kalagayi at the moment. Crucial part in my opinion is color. People used sumac, rose hip, saffron, yellow carrot, onion peel to get a color. You can find a lot of videos of preparation on UA-cam
Thanks for clarifying! Funnily yesterday I was googling to see if it had a name but I wasn’t completely sure of my own research so didn’t include it. Now I know it was correct. 🥰
@@carriepatsalisyes exactly. I would like to say about glass it is mathematically genius. Because if you put glass in a wrong place even 0.1 mm, it will not stay and be strong. About color of scarf people used ingredients for getting different colors. Increasing of quantity of one ingredient makes different color which you have seen in shop.

Thank you so much Elvin! We really enjoyed our trip.. it was too short though! I didn’t realise how much Azerbaijan has to offer.. more places I would love to see!
Have you visited the ancient Albanian Monastery in the village of Kish in Sheki? These are places of power. Giant people are buried there. There is also a monument to the Norwegian archaeologist Thor Heyerdahl nearby.

Thanks for sharing this stunning video.... How many days u think it's worth it to stay on each saki and ganja and by the way where is this place where u rid the Zipline
Glad you enjoyed it! So we stayed for 3 nights/ 2 days in sęki and there was no real downtime for me as I wanted to see everything! So if you want a steady time you could easily spend longer.. the zip line place was I think just called Sheki zipline.. google that and hopefully it will come up.. I didn’t get to ganja but heard it was lovely and well worth it..

On the zip wire I used an insta 360 x3 (there’s now an x4 which is better).. and it recorded a 360 view which I then used the app on my phone to take a landscape edit from.. its very easy.. you just have to hang on to the pole!
