Thank you for your hard work, it gives us all a guide on what to do, very detailed video.
“Maybe it’s an upgrade.” 😂 🤣
What rim and tire setup are you using? Offset? Love your videos 👏🏿👏🏿
good, informative & entertaining video bros !
Hmm Wonder if that will work on the gs platform 🤔 but 4.10’s are super short!
I wish the diff had even shorter gears! The ratios of the th400 are brutally long! Not sure about the gs but the auto IS has 3.91 so not a huge change.
@@masterofmachines ok that’s fair idk about the 400 but my th350 is stupid short and I’m also 3.92 65mph I was at 3500rpms I’m now going cd009 trans since I blew up the th350 on the dyno but she saw 26psi before she popped
In my imdustry (although im adumbass) inco82 is magic and welds anything to anything
i had an is300 with factory manual and factory lsd. The manual is the w55, very weak doesnt hold power.. the first gear completely blew on me. Replaced with the ar5. The factory torsen lsd is the m85, believe it is geared 3.6 This diff blew on me couple months after i replaced the transmission, I am now replacing the diff with a y38 at 4.1. I am afraid this car will be geared too high now :\ we will see.
This was some time ago. The 4.1 gear made virtually no measurable difference at all compared to the stock 3.9. I ran it this way dig racing for a year or 2 and it held up well, and never did 1 wheel burn outs again.
Do you have a diagram you can share of how you setup the microsquirt? I'm considering using that because I'm already familiar with tunerstudio.
I’m happy to share whatever info you need. It’s gotten even easier since I did my install because the microsquirt has been updated to have a programmable optional output for the additional ignition channel that’s needed that won’t require wiring in a resistor in wled. I’m using the stock ignition control module which was super easy. And rather than using the “fuel pump relay” to control the fuel pump I’m using the circuit opening relay. It’s imperative that you disconnect it the cam sensor. It causes loss of sync due to a shared ground with the crank sensor signal. The stock ignition module will break up at around 5k rpm if the dwell is left at the default 3ms. I have mine at 2.2 ms of dwell. Let me know if you need my msq.
Did you have play in the axle spokes when hammering them back? I just installed mine and on one side it has in and out play? Wondering if this is normal
I'm curious if you can just use frs axles on the is300. Remove that bolt on plate An just use normal axles
There is so many other things i want to trade my is (mainly swb chevy trucks) for but everytime i drive it im like im gonna hand this down to my kid
Yes this has been my problem as well. Prob going to try welding the old one. Break and put in a new one
Funny you say that, I pretty much immediately welded up the old diff after we put this one in. Just in case. 😂
I liked the double burn out one wheel at a time.lol. I think tech it's still only counts as one burn out though. See it's just a really long double stop burn out. Not two burn outs. Lol.
Just talking chit
Can you use the FRS diff bolts instead of the IS300 diff bolts?...
I don’t know the answer to this. I would think so but perhaps the thread is different. I’ve never heard of anyone doing it
You service other people’s car too or just your own?
Normally just my own. But if you’re local and flexible on time I might be able to take on something. Message my instagram @masterofmachines
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Will this fit in 2000 gs300?
The part where you were taking it apart @ 11:12 do I have to do that in order for it to work or can I just simply install it
I’m not sure. My brz diff did not come with the stubs in it so I had to swap them over from the old one. I don’t know if the brz stubs are the same.
What kind of socket did u use for the back allen bolts on the diff , the excat brand of the socket im having trouble finding a socket to find there
I think they’re just some Pittsburg Allen sockets from harbor freight. Had to put a wrench in them though because there wasn’t enough space to use a Rachet
Time to hit the junkyard and a M98 and upgrade my diff
#winning!
👍
mine came lsd i thought it was welded till i opened the case no tire cherp nothing never not locks up
Did the top end drop?? I want to get this done to my 03
Really didn’t find any noticeable difference besides there being no more one wheel burn outs.
@@masterofmachines really appreciate it. I have the oem lsd but the gearing should make a big difference can't wait to swap mine.
i have factory lsd would it be worth switching for the frs one? any big differences?
Perhaps. The LSD diff in the Lexus is a clutch type, and the one from the FRS is a Torsen diff. The Torsen diff is superior in function for sure, but I’m not sure that it is as strong. I however I have been hitting mine with a shot of nitrous off a transbrake and so far it’s held up OK.
@@masterofmachines unless yours was aftermarket. The factory IS300 differential is a Torsen one also.
send it!
do the lexus is300 shafts go into the brz diff or do i have to swap the stub shafts from the brz?
@@masterofmachines thanks buddy I got mine in! I was a little concerned because every video I saw people took out those hex bolts from the stubs. Found it alot easier to just pop the axle out normally.
Does it matter if it’s out of an automatic or manual FRS ? ( I have auto trans )
I think they’re all 4.1 ratio Torsten lsd’s. At least the applications in my search all were.
What kind of shifter is that?
It’s just a basic b&m reverse pattern shifter for the manual valve body th400 transmission
When is goldy getting lsd?
Goldie got that Lincoln locker 😂 Actually do have big changes planned for Goldie coming up after IFO this winter. Among them is 8.8 solid axle 😎
@@masterofmachines it just deserves the lsd, but 8.8 will fix that right?
I love y38 / 4.1 gearing in my 300 . Here in straya the 300 came with a 3.6 and A650E auto only . So 4.1's is a budget way to knock a sec of my 1/4
A whole second??
A whole second fr???
