Congrats on catching your first cow But I must say swimming out in a wetsuit and flippers offshore at the tip of Montauk to go fishing is one of the craziest things I've ever seen anyone do LOL
I remember camping at hither hills in fall 1998 and 1999, it was super quiet and peaceful back then. Fast forward to 2010 when I had to stand at the top of hither hills at 3am on a Wednesday night to yell "shut up you retards, it's time to go to bed". Scenes changed big time from when I was a kid, and according to my family I've been around during the most drastic changes in the scene too. I feel like the progression of the 4wd brought a lot more people out as well, once they were more widely owned I noticed a huge increase in traffic out there. Between that and the internet I've literally watched the entire scene change out there
I grew up jetty-jumping the Jersey shore and it's all hairy: Montauk, Asbury, Spring Lake, Longbranch... I used to literally run up and down the jetties to get in shape for skiing. This year I'm gonna try to make the trip to the CCC, I think I can handle it. I'll leave Montauk to the "skishermen". Good video.
A lot of hate in these comments for an activity you've never even tried. It's not for everyone, which is just fine for the guys out there doing it. Less people
Lol,Ive been running and working 6 pack boats for 36 seasons in Montauk and these guys are googans.Anyone who swims out in a wet suit to fish the flood tide rip while we are dragging wire is a Googan
You can't fillet , glad you got to go with Alberto he is awesome , Toad is great too , and Paul well a big self promoter who couldn't catch a fish outside of montauk .
ABSOLUTELY TRUE......That's the toughest most critical part of the end game when fighting/ landing a bass from a rocky shoreline.....This is why your leader needs to be at least 50-80lbs lbs test line and at least 36" long (or a long handle gaff in the lip ONLY) also its important to try to pre-plan where to lead the fish for the best possible spot to land it and not have it get trapped between the rocks
Paul wrote an awesome book as well. But I aint sure I would have gone out in shark invested waters on that crazy dudes word that ""Its safe" especially at night. But Alberto Whos Nickname is Crazy I would go lol
fish there every october .... thank God that since they did the revitalization of the rocks and added a fishermans ledge, its not as dangerous as shown in this video anymore. great fishing in montauk
As crazy as it looks, it does look fun! I just wouldnt want my reel and all my equipment soaking in saltwater like that. Costs too much replacing and repairing gear amd lures.
THERE WAS A TIME IN CALIFORNIA WHEN THE SURF FISHING FOR STRIPERS WAS FABULOUS, BUT THE GOVERNMENT MANAGED TO DESTROY IT WILL ALL THEIR DAMS, AND NOW INSTEAD TO DINNING ON FRESH COUGHT STRIPPERS AND SALMON WE ALL ENJOY EATING ALMONDS.
Thank you for uploading this! Been looking all over. What is that vegetable you placed with your striped bass recipe over the fire? And where can I get "Slap yo mama" seasoning!?
Todd Spencer it’s like anything else if your not comfortable in the water don’t do it. No difference from those who surf dive or spearfish. Can’t knock people who found own way to have fun
Googan is actually the name of a freshwater soft lure brand. Googans belong at the pond 🤷 although the trout fishing is absolutely amazing at Lake Montauk 😎
am I the only one who called the bluff on that "cow" they lost on the rocks with Alberto..... is that a joke? that was a sound bite of a reel screaming drag...he didn't have a fish on.
Cool vid.i deff respect all the sharpies on montauk.but here in Rhody we actually try to find a rock to fish off of when were skishing.i think all the other guys do to on montauk.....except the toad..i dont think i could fish without earplugs around this guy....alberto will make most of these guys silly.theres something to be said about silence
lol everything is so over sized at the states.. the Japanese use half the size of the gear to catch the same fish, you dont need such giant lures and rods and reels to catch 10 pound stripers...
i watch japanese fishing videos for years.. they fish 10 pound seabass with a 5000 stella... they use the same size of reels you guys use for hiramasa which is yellowtail...
The host's personality is really obnoxious. The way he's telling them they're wrong and to shut up. I know he is joking, but it is still disrespectful to these guys that refined surfcasting and invented the sport of skishing. They were probably old enough to know the first guys to even wear a wetsuit to fish back in the 50s. These guys are hardcore.
this guy is a googan
Glad I grew up Fishing on Block Island, rarely did we see others and we didn't have to go swimming to catch nice bass.
This was a great watch. Alberto is on another level!
LOVE THIS VIDEO...
It seems like this guy deserves more than 68 subscribers
awesome vid! got to love Montauk. slid down them rocks by the lighthouse many moons ago
Thanks Bruce, Montauk is a special place.
Congrats on catching your first cow
But I must say swimming out in a wetsuit and flippers offshore at the tip of Montauk to go fishing is one of the craziest things I've ever seen anyone do LOL
These guys are incredible
Thanks James.
It wasnt a drinking town back in the day.It actually was rather quiet. Something that is long missed i'm sure.

It sure was a drinking time when I used to go there in the 80s
its a shame the liars saloon is now gone
October in Montauk is the best fishing on earth and most of the tourists-have gone.
I grew up jetty-jumping the Jersey shore and it's all hairy: Montauk, Asbury, Spring Lake, Longbranch... Montauk isn't in jersey
love fishing the finger jetties in spring lake.....spend alot of time on ibsp
@jerzeyboi_fishing8437 yes, I know that. My work takes me all over the east coast, so I fish all up and down. Fishing RI tomorrow, God willing.
This is why I always fish alone.
Wow! now that is impressive!!!!
Awesome Video!
I thought I was a hardcore fisherman until seeing this... Wow!!
Fishing in khakis? 👎
I fish Montauk almost every year, I see these guys "swim fishing" and I always think they are completely nuts! lol
Night fishing on a jetty is more dangerous.
Robert, direct message me on instagram at instagram.com/ig_kenbaldwin/
It’s fun
This was great man loved it
👍
When swim fishing was it hard to cast and reel the fish in ? It looked super sketchy
One of the best vids..... We don't have those bass sizes here in North Africa libya maybe the rat one.... Keep it up just great.. Thank you
Thanks A M Madi that means a lot to me. It was a blast making the video.
What kind of fish do you have over there do you guys surf fish
When your fishing with the wet suit that place is called turtle cove.Your right on top of the old air force base
Great video. Been on LI my whole life.
Thanks lots. You live in a great part of the states.
Thanks lots. You live in a great part of the states.
Great seeing Alberto in this video
A lot of hate in these comments for an activity you've never even tried. It's not for everyone, which is just fine for the guys out there doing it. Less people
Charles, you are a smart man.
Sweet video I love mtk but I fish the north shore mainly... To many tourists down there
Damn, you fished with legends. Good fucking shit!!!!
Excellent!
That’s why you use a vannstal so you can go skishing some of the best reels in used
Whats the best bait/lure out there? snooks? I'd love to get hooked up. Im in CT on the Sound
Legends
👍
that swim fishing looks crazy but fun
The audio is mono? How can they upload this being a professional production?
Gotta love the hate. Whole different world swimming with the fish. Good vid man. You live and learn. The trip and people alone are worth it. 🤙
DJA, you get it. Thanks.
Seem like good people
11:30 why not have an intertube?
Not a bad idea
Lol,Ive been running and working 6 pack boats for 36 seasons in Montauk and these guys are googans.Anyone who swims out in a wet suit to fish the flood tide rip while we are dragging wire is a Googan

Such great fishing!
What rods are the majority of those guys using out there?
Ugly sticks. Kidding, CTS, Century, ODM, ect ect.
I guess the slot limit is new?
Googen heck we called them hoopers when i was a kid.
Right on. :)
It doesn’t count if you don’t go down and pull it from the base of the rocks yourself!
I like how he tells them not to lose his fish but he can't land them himself
I have used a gaff in the 1970's
ABSOLUTELY TRUE......That's the toughest most critical part of the end game when fighting/ landing a bass from a rocky shoreline.....This is why your leader needs to be at least 50-80lbs lbs test line and at least 36" long (or a long handle gaff in the lip ONLY) also its important to try to pre-plan where to lead the fish for the best possible spot to land it and not have it get trapped between the rocks
Montauk where legends go to die
How do you have only 900 subs you should have 500 k
Preston, you are obviously a man of fine taste! THANKS. 👍
What size Van Staal was he using
an original VS 100. A little small for the rod I was throwing but at the time I was a "Newbie"!
Season on the Edge you haven’t posted in a while why not you need to get back out there or give up the gear lol
The Toad is the best !!
Where in Montauk is that beach at ?
This is just to the right of the lighthouse if you are facing outwards to the ocean.
first beach he was on i think was south shore @@seasonontheedge8942
He didn't filet that bass, he butchered it.
Paul wrote an awesome book as well. But I aint sure I would have gone out in shark invested waters on that crazy dudes word that ""Its safe" especially at night. But Alberto Whos Nickname is Crazy I would go lol
Fishing beer and your buddies life don't get much better
"Do these things bite "
Remember when Montauk held the WhiteShark record
fish there every october .... thank God that since they did the revitalization of the rocks and added a fishermans ledge, its not as dangerous as shown in this video anymore. great fishing in montauk
Monomoy is the biggest seal colony in the northeast US ergo more white sharks than Montauk.
Absolutely True....I have fished the rips of Monomoy.....Seals all over the place and Great whites patrol these waters routinely
A lot of rod /reel maintenance.
As crazy as it looks, it does look fun! I just wouldnt want my reel and all my equipment soaking in saltwater like that. Costs too much replacing and repairing gear amd lures.
Anthony Gregorio that's why these guys use van staals. Fully sealed aluminum body reels. Theyre made for this
THERE WAS A TIME IN CALIFORNIA WHEN THE SURF FISHING FOR STRIPERS WAS FABULOUS, BUT THE GOVERNMENT MANAGED TO DESTROY IT WILL ALL THEIR DAMS, AND NOW INSTEAD TO DINNING ON FRESH COUGHT STRIPPERS AND SALMON WE ALL ENJOY EATING ALMONDS.
I miss L.I. 😔
What was your rod/reel setup? Those rods look thin.
This was back around 2007. It was a Lamiglas surf casting rod matched with a Van Staal reel. I still fish them today.
Thank you for uploading this! Been looking all over. What is that vegetable you placed with your striped bass recipe over the fire? And where can I get "Slap yo mama" seasoning!?
If I remember correctly I think those are green peppers. I also like to throw black olives in with the fish. You can order Slap Yo Mama from Amazon.
Great video. Skishing - not worth losing your life over. Yikes!
Todd Spencer it’s like anything else if your not comfortable in the water don’t do it. No difference from those who surf dive or spearfish. Can’t knock people who found own way to have fun
love your video but I'll stick to surf fishing in calif
The reel wasn't fully submerged...he didn't do it right
Googan is actually the name of a freshwater soft lure brand. Googans belong at the pond 🤷 although the trout fishing is absolutely amazing at Lake Montauk 😎
Crazy Alberto lost that fish on purpose
Not too many sharks where you fish then. No way id do that where i fish.
TIMS PRB102 sharks wont attack you unless you wear flashy items
Seriously? It's Montauk.
am I the only one who called the bluff on that "cow" they lost on the rocks with Alberto..... is that a joke? that was a sound bite of a reel screaming drag...he didn't have a fish on.

Your cast could use improvement. Thats why you cant cast as far. You throw your right hand like a baseball rather than use the butt to load your cast
Froggington, I like that, that makes sense. I'll try it next time I'm on the surf.
In all due respect, hayseed music at Montauk ?
Don't see anyone intrepid enough to skish at night in a maelstrom.
Thats my uncle
lol everything is so over sized at the states.. the Japanese use half the size of the gear to catch the same fish, you dont need such giant lures and rods and reels to catch 10 pound stripers...
Tala Tala thats not true sir. And a shimano Stella wouldn’t be able to withstand the corrosion and salt of being splashed and or dunked underwater
i watch japanese fishing videos for years.. they fish 10 pound seabass with a 5000 stella...
they use the same size of reels you guys use for hiramasa which is yellowtail...
The guy was duped and he was just selling TV!!!
Tell me that looks like fun what a joke
THAT LAST FISH WAS SO DEAD LOOKED LIKE IT WAS IN A COOLER FOR A WEEK LOL....JOKE!
Wow, really?
Guess they can’t afford a boat
Yikes, full cringe, basically a how not to video
Googan is our word. The irony is that we in Florida consider these guys to be the poster children of Googans.
Wow he left a ton of meat on the fish. What a waste. Cool fishing technique though.
As a lifelong striper fusherman this does not look like fun . Bunch of New York loudmouths
Skishing is just stupid. If you need to do that to catch fish, you need to find a new sport.
bcask61 agreed doesn't even look fun
their gear costs more than a lot of boats
Your opinion is as valid as you're existence.
bcask61 umm ? Jealous much 🤪
If you have never fished Montauk dont say its stupid.
This dude is embarrassing.
How dare they call people googans... they’re the googans.
Much hoopla about very little......alot of staging and BS ... not fun just plain STUPID! .... Buy a boat
Who tought these people how to fish it's a disgrace
