I have to concur. Vince Gill is a talent like none other whether as a solo artist or accompanying another artist, he’s incredible. Vince Gil and Patty Loveless singing ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ is another song that brings chills especially knowing the history of the song. Great Video!
Pretty much anything by Carrie Underwood is great. She has a wonderful voice. "Jesus, Take the Wheel" is a favorite of mine. You should also check Vince Gill out. He has an amazing voice, as well. Consider "Go Rest High on that Mountain" by him.
I really love your reaction to her beautiful voice! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this video. Every time, I get goosebumps and I can feel the very moment that the spirit enters her body. She has a natural God-given talent, in my opinion. I can’t get enough of her voice! Again, this is my opinion only, but she is the white version of Whitney Houston. Whitney is the only one who could do what Carrie just did. She took us to church and then some! Let’s not forget the harmony from Vince Gill. Vince Gill has an amazing voice as well. Vince gill is also one of the top guitarist ever, in my opinion. Absolutely amazing!
Great comparison to Whitney. What a loss. Although I want to I don’t think I could see CU live because I would be in tears the whole time. Because you are basically in the same room with God, indirectly of course. His gift is palpable and magnificent.
You even go one step farther than most fans. To be sure, she ‘carried’ herself above her competitors and into the ‘OMG’ record book from AI. The judges weren’t very nice back then either.
@@roymoore3156 very true. Randy would give out "it was just alright." And Simon would berate people for too many runs, or just their inability to hit a note." Paula was mostly kind, but once in a while if the performance was just bad she wouldn't say anything.
It’s the harmony in the chorus for me. What a moment when Vince’s voice kicks in and blends with Carrie belting out to the heavens. And then something in the second half of that guitar solo made my hands raise, and I’m an atheist.
That's because you are responding to the presence of the Lord. I have the same response every time....and I would have fallen to my knees if I was the one singing that performance...and she probably would have as well if she wasn't such a professional.
Personally one of my favorite Worship Songs. She does an extraordinary job in delivering the power and raw emotion of the lyrics. Just love her performance.
Carrie Underwood learned to sing in the womb. Watching this video makes me tear up every time, not just from her singing but also when the camera pans the audience and we see country music's biggest stars and veterans of the industry such as Naomi and Wynonna Judd reduced to puddles. My all-time favorite performance of my all-time favorite classic hymn.
On guitar and harmony is the legendary Vince Gill. It’s definitely worth checking out his work. I had the pleasure of chatting with him once and he’s one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met.
It’s a great song for telling how good someone’s voice is. I used to work for a company with an amazing Christmas party. Kristin Chenowith performed one year and sang this at the request of the CEO emeritus as this is his favorite song. My bff and I were so impressed. A few years later, he had passed. His sons were the CEOs and they brought Carrie in to sing this in his memory. I wasn’t there, but a friend told me there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
You should definitely check out her singing “O Holy Night” live on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Anything she sings is incredible. She is country, but can sing any genre and do it very well. She and Brad Paisley are long time friends and have a wonderful duet, “Remind Me”, well worth a listen. Thanks for your channel. By the way, your voice is exceptionally pleasing to the ear.
@@ryansheehan9462 the dear lord gave her the beautiful voice for all of us to enjoy and I do every time she opens her mouth and that angelic song comes out
The night that Carrie Underwood was in the finals of American Idol I got my phone (one that was connected by a cord to the wall, for those of you old enough to remember that) and sat down in an easy chair with a piece of paper that I could keep a tally on and I called the number to vote for Carrie. As soon as I heard the voice "Thank you for calling..." whatever, and I knew the call had gone through and been accepted, I put a mark on my sheet and hit disconnect and then hit redial. When I got a busy of course I did not put a mark down. I think the phone lines were open for two hours and I sat right there in that chair and voted as long as the lines were open. My final tally was 500! I had voted for Carrie 500 times! Her career since she won Idol has justified to me the time I spent voting for her. This is an awesome song and beautifully showcases Carrie's extraordinary voice as well as the voice of Vince Gill. I never thought I would live to see the day when Vince was playing a left-handed guitar. 🤣 MrL, that's my less than subtle way of saying that the picture is flipped and appears backward! Also, I wish there was something you could do so the box with the performing artist wasn't "ghosted" by having your picture superimposed over it. I'm not sure I explained that very well but back in the good old days we would say it was a "double exposure". Just a suggestion. I'll keep watching regardless but these are two things that MAYBE you could fix. Incidentally, if you want to watch something that will "take you to church", check out Dolly Parton singing "He's Alive"! I watched that live when she first performed it and when she hit the chorus with the choir behind her, I got cold chills and despite the fact that I have watched it many times since then, I continue to get cold chills when she comes out with "He's alive, He's alive". If you haven't heard that song you owe it to yourself to check it out.
This is one of my favorite things to hear Carrie Underwood sing! There's always a point where you can tell she stops performing and starts singing for God! She's wonderful! I love her songs Temporary Home and Something In The Water also. And Vince Gill is a country music great! Definitely worth the dive down the rabbit hole.
You're absolutly right. There is always a point when she sings her faith based songs when she stops performing and just sings the song. Those are best most moments. I think because she is singing to God.
Carrie Underwood is a very talented performer. Huge vocal abilities to say the least. Vince Gill is an extremely good guitar player. He has played guitar alongside some of the guitar legends in the music industry. Vince Gill's wife, Amy Grant, has sung worship/gospel songs for many years now. It is a wonderful thing to listen to such outstanding performers.
This version of How Great Thou Art makes me cry… it’s so beautiful. Carrie’s voice is phenomenal, and then Vince Gill’s harmony and guitar just take it to another level. Chills indeed…💕
Yes she definitely did begin singing at the church she used to attend as a child. She gained prominence after winning the fourth season of American Idol. 🙂 check out “Blown Away”

I remember watching her on American Idol and as a country fan my whole life I was immediately thinking "oh yes. She will be a hit". Like there wasnt any doubt for me.
All I can say is, chill bumps, everytime I listen to this performance, Vince's guitar solo is so beautiful and then of course Carrie's voice is simply golden.
Oklahoma girl naturally raised in the church. She could sing the dictionary and we would be amazed. Side note about Vince Gill is he is one of the greatest guitarists ever and has an amazing voice to boot. He is currently touring as one of the guitarists with the Eagles

Before her I only listened to Hip Hop, R&B and Pop.. To put it simply, Carrie Underwood opened up many doors for me musically.. now I listen to EVERYTHING. Her talent is insane. True 🐐 voice.
God I love Carrie so much. She’s such an awesome person, absolutely stunningly beautiful, her appearance, her personality, and her voice. She’s a 15/10.
Vince Gill - the guitarist - has 21 Grammies, 18 CMAs/2 Entertainer of the Year awards and 5 male vocalist awards...he crosses genres with his guitar playing - even stepped in to tour with the Eagles after their lead singer died.
I loved how he almost removed the headphones because her voice was so overwhelming. I love Carrie Underwood and her rendition of How Great Though Art is hard to beat.
Vince Gill has been nominated 47 times for a Grammys, and has won 22. The man is so talented with his musicality on both vocals & instruments. He is also funny, there is a clip of him telling the story of his father getting to meet Dolly Parton, its a classic.
Great review! I've watched this video over and over and it never gets old. She has an amazing God given talent! Perfect vibrato. I don't think ANY AMOUNT of voice lessons would create a voice like Carrie's. It's definitely God gifted!

This was the night when the stars of Nashville country music accepted this girl who won American Idol and got to Nashville music scene the easy way. All of the "why is Vince playing for her" questions were answered after her performance. People in attendance were actually saying Vince was going to out sing her and put her to shame and that she didn't belong on that stage with Vince. Carrie's career literally sky rocketed after she sang that night and hasn't slowed down a bit.
You will never hear anyone do this song better. This is my favorite performance of Carrie and Vince. When you can get the audience standing with a minute to go in the song, you have accomplished everything.
If you've never heard of Vince Gill at the time of this video, you have got to check him out, anything really but especially 'Go Rest High on that Mountain'
Carrie is a phenomenal God blessed talent! From being just a little girl growing up on a farm, singing in church! I do appreciate American idol for bringing her to us. God bless to you and yours thank you for your reactions!!
She is from a small town not far from my small town in rural Oklahoma. Around the same age and just going by the area I would assume church would be likely.
She was discovered on a television singing competition show American Idol. I don't think she's ever had any formal training. Grew up on a farm. That is just what an angel sounds like.

You can have church with this song. She is great and ain't nothing no better than 2 great Oklahoma talents together. Gotta love it. Chills all way through this performance. In Oklahoma we know how to sing His praises.
I wish you would listen to k.d. lang singing "Crying" at the Roy Orbison tribute, She also has a voice that will give you goosebumps when she really lets go. Her pre-Constant Craving country stuff was awesome.
Check out Carrie Underwood singing “All is Well” with Michael W Smith. It will move you to tears much like this … and she’s pregnant while belting it out beautifully!
I think that you have just given the your best reaction that I have seen. This brings me to my place on my pew at church where I have sat for 50 years. She sang this beautifully
Both these singers are from Oklahoma.. It’s a great state to produce great singers. Carrie, Vince, Reba, Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks. Just to name a few..
Not bad for an Oklahoma girl. She came from a very normal small town Oklahoma family in Checota. What you hear now is pure natural talent. Of course her voice has been honed since American Idol but it is all from her heart
Lol, how can you not have heard Carrie Underwood before now? I believe the term you were looking for is World Class Singer...effortless. I love this song because she is unrestrained and in her wheelhouse.
Carrie, Blake, and Vince are all Okies as well as Reba. People say there must be something in our water, lol. I predicted her to win American Idol as soon as I watched her first audition.
Just a note to let you know that the two women in the front were icons themselves, The Judds ... Naomi and Wynona Judd. The woman wiping her tears in the front row is Naomi Judd and that was the last public appearance she made shortly before her death. It is sad that at this time, no one knew what would happen. RIP Naomi. :(
Carrie will always be one of my favorites!! You should check out a couple live performances, "something in the water" and she also did a duet at the ACM awards in 2011 with Steven Tyler "undo it and walk this way" what an amazing voice!
You will love hearing Carrie Underwood singing the National Anthem. Her latest performance was the Nashville Predators Hockey game. Ps. Fun fact about Carrie....She has perfect pitch. I hope you get a chance to hear her sing it.
I remember when Carrie auditioned on American idol and she was just this little small town timid girl with a big voice. She definitely has made a career
So thrilled to hear such wonderful reaction to what I consider to be the greatest delivery of one of the best songs ever written. This song has seen me thru some of the darkest times of my life. Thank you!

You can have church with this song. She is great and ain't nothing no better than 2 great Oklahoma talents together. Gotta love it. Chills all way through this performance. In Oklahoma we know how to sing His praises.
Perfect pairing, for this song.
Oh yea Carrie has the pipes to belt out anything she wants.
Vince Gill can make that guitar talk.
I wish you would listen to k.d. lang singing "Crying" at the Roy Orbison tribute, She also has a voice that will give you goosebumps when she really lets go. Her pre-Constant Craving country stuff was awesome.
Listen to Vince Gill singing, Go rest high on that mountain. Beautiful
Country meets Gospel...a marriage between songs of praise and feeling.
Go Rest High on that Mountain- Vince Gill please go listen. Absolutely, incredible.
I'm not Christian, but there is a reason that Vince Gill is still the #1 background singer in all of Nashville. This is beautiful
Both these singers are from Oklahoma.. It’s a great state to produce great singers. Carrie, Vince, Reba, Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks. Just to name a few..
Taking my daughter to see carrie underwood tonight for her 28th birthday...can't wait
This song gets me every time.. Carrie's voice is amazing and Vince Gill doing backup and the guitar.... just phenomonal (sp)
Not bad for an Oklahoma girl. She came from a very normal small town Oklahoma family in Checota. What you hear now is pure natural talent. Of course her voice has been honed since American Idol but it is all from her heart
I must add that vince gila can harmonize with anyone and an amazing musician
Thank you!
This is a simple God of old an God of new clashing together to make pure sweet music
