    Dude, this is brilliant!!! I have a 2013 Ultra Limited and am switching over to the detachable mount. However, when I got the tour pack off I discovered the 475 miles of wire (including that useless intercom/CB cable, which I’m just taking out altogether) that’s supposed to fit under the seat. I’m also switching over to a solo seat when the pack is off, so things only looked more grim. After sleeping on it, I formulated a plan to do something like this when I stumbled across yours and this Australian guy’s videos looking to see if there was a kit. The plugs are called “Deutsch Connectors” and you can get a big kit (with more than you probably need) for about $75.00. I do appreciate the idea of using one 6 pin plug instead of two 3 pin plugs, it will eliminate my screwing things up. You’d think someone would market this, wouldn’t make millions but it would sell for sure. Again, thanks for the information.

      @@Moto-foody nice! Good luck with the project! If I had more motivation I'd make a kit for this because you're right, it would sell decently. Not sure of it pertains to your plans or not but after you eliminate the CB, you can change out the dash panel for something a little more sleek too like I did in this video ua-cam.com/video/1vDxC_u7134/v-deo.htmlsi=5fh3QOv96L1gYgBP
      I think it makes it look a ton better. *not sponsored

      @@LifeontheBlacktop Yup, exactly what I’m doing next, gotta make that CB/Intercom stuff go. It’s ugly, outdated, and wholly unusable because I live in the 21st Century and use my Cardo. To be honest, the only reason I leave the radio in is because it has a clock (I Bluetooth XM Satellite Radio into my Cardo unit), I’d rather have a storage compartment like my 2004 Electra Glide Standard. Thanks for the tips, it’s assuredly made my life simpler.

    Good video. I did the same. I grouped the wiring and introduced deutch connectors on either side of the bike, and can now unplug and remove, or add the beerbox in less than 2 minutes. I also switched the antenna to a hidden system installed in the fairing... not quite as good reception, but no ugly antenna..... and to class it up I switched the license plate brackets and installed a curved laydown plate mount. Looks amazing, fast and easy..... and the Techs at our dealerships and shops are NOT doing it this way.....

      Occasionally it will drag on the docking hardware. Try unlatxhing one side and then wiggling the tour pack a little. Maybe put a small drop of oil on it or something to help free it up for next time after you get it off. One of mine is pretty tight too.

    • @LifeontheBlacktop
      @LifeontheBlacktop  Рік тому +1

      As far as male side and female side, no. You can kind of do whatever there, but these wires run your turn signals and audio for the tour pack if you have speakers, so the side to side matters and make absolutely sure you’re feeding the colors to the right colors after cutting them.

    • @LifeontheBlacktop
      @LifeontheBlacktop  4 роки тому

      Yep! In 2014 though I believe they changed the blinkers to the tour pack only (I could be wrong on that) so I'm not sure what you'd have to do but I'd guess you'd have to grab an after market rear blinker for those models. On 2011 though like mine, it has the bar already on the fender and the blinkers on the tour pack are redundant. Hope that helps!
