I picked up a large sheet of galvanized steel at my closest Home Depot since I'm using a much larger box. I definitely like the look of those GoMagnetics storage trays!
Instead of the boxes you can find deep muffin/traybake metal trays with plastic protection tops, so you can just magnetise directly down onto the sheet tray
We always appreciate you taking time off from your busy schedule of protecting the seven seas to post videos Aqua Man. Now take some time for yourself, grab a seaweed latte and take your whale for a walk or something, you've earned it.
I love this idea. Even though I kept my Warhammer boxes due to them being sturdy, it never occurred to me to glue flashing to them and use them for model storage. Makes so much sense. You don't have to label drawers, you already have the box art to tell you what's inside. Perfect for assembled and otherwise in progress items. And the trays are very useful. I designed my own trays with inset circles in which to glue washers to hold my Warcry warbands and Blood Bowl teams and Kill Team teams. Mine are drop-ins and I took the time to make custom ones for each team (Hunters of Huanchi and Tarantulos Brood have three different sized bases!). I like that the minis slide into these trays instead of dropping in, and they'll work for regular game units, especially horde armies. My bigger pieces will still be on display shelves but I can see using the flying model stabilizers for travel.
It awesome video, and a great idea, I keep my army in storage boxes, with magnetic sheets, which a friend gave to me, as I have a massive Catachan Army, keep these ideas coming, Cheers from DownUnder.
I’ve been using these without the magnets (because frankly I can’t be assed) but I’ve considered doing this properly, but didn’t think it would work (assumed the box would warp too much or there’d be a small hole in em) so honestly I might be paying a visit to Home Depot soon lol
I found it easier to get sheet magnets and have metal under the bases. Finding rare earth magnets in my small town is pretty hard, but any craft section has A4 magnetic sheets. And the metal under bases can be anything, washers, tin can lids, as long as they make contact with the sheet as it's a weak force. Strong enough with full contact though, I have had that upside down shaken it, no movement.
I love these boxes and thought about doing this but always worried that the pulling of minis might tear up the boxes if the magnets are stronger than the cardboard
ikea kvissle is the best. costs about 25€, magnetic metal trays, and you can store ALOT of smaller minis inside, big boys on top. huge gamechanger. just get rid of the cork ontop(heat it with a hairdryer, and it will be clean in ~2min per tray)
@@CCMinisnot me missing this comment and putting baking powder on all my minis for two weeks… 😂 But seriously what is that tool for keeping the mini upright, that’s awesome.
Wonderful and helpful video. I'm at risk of being the "aktchully" guy, but it may save someone some grief. You want to use galvanized sheets rather than stainless. For one, it's generally less expensive, but also stainless steels can be non-magnetic and would defeat the purpose. I'd just hate for someone to spend money they didn't need to.
hi, the idea is perfect :) but have you try thicker steel sheets ? i use a shoping box with steel sheet combiner *im from germany and i dont know the right english word for it :( * the combiner are stronger, just a idea ^^
Im betting the magnets would still stick to the metal flashing through a layer of duct tape, so how about covering the metal flashing with a layer of duct tape to cover the sharp edges and strengthen the box?????
The deep lore that CC sleeps in full outerwear including a cap is a great touch
oh those magnet trays are brilliant, I've got a magnetic case, but being able to organize by unit is great.

This is such a good idea! I love how the boxes blend in with your other model boxes, efficient method or not
Literally the exact type of video I was looking for, I’m making a warhammer display box and this was a perfect guide
You almost gave me a fucking heart attack with the large models in the small box. The creak made my heart skip.
Funny, it broke mine
Ha Ha I net you at Adepticon... love the video... I will catch up on more... I appreciate your time... you were very welcoming... Old Guy Joe
Great meeting you there OG Joe!

Those are a great option
Hahaha I like that you're not using the fabric shears to cut this time
I learned my lesson... Hard
Damn, I feel like I just found a new favorite channel!
Welcome!

I'll be back, Atlantis needs me once more

I'm moving house soon so this is so useful! Thank you! Truly absolute big boi 10,000 hobby advice

Great work man, shot real nice too 👌
Aye thanks Theo!

But don't do the upside down shaken thing though, "bad idea... " lol!
Fitting that the Drukhari Raider is held in place with a bondage harness
No other way to do it

The metal will pop off the glue before the cardboard rips I think. If and when that happens just hot glue em back down
Great, practical tips. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Lofi!

I'm sorry, baking power what now?! Also WHAT TOOL IS THAT FOR KEEPING THE MINI UPSIDE DOWN. That is amazing!
Baking *soda* my bad

Those storage trays might be the thing that pushes me over the edge into a 3D printer.
I use these boxes too. But the inserts are made from foam core and hot glue.
Where did you get your alligator clip setup? I need one for sub assemblies. Awesome video!

While I don't think any regulars would be tripped by it, at 1:39 you mention Baking Powder instead of Baking Soda.
Ah man, not again
the outtake at the end 😂

Thicker sheets would work just as well!
Wow this is great! Keep up the good content.
great vid man!
Thanks for the helpful hobby hint!
I gasped when the minis fell out
Me too man, me too. I even gasped at the beginning bit of him throwing out the other miniatures
my answer to mini storage will always be magnetic bases and a baking sheet from walrmart
Those work great if you don't need to stack em
cool idea

@@CCMinis I doubt that, but even a blind squirrel gets a nut every once in a while.😏😏😏

Лучше использовать пластиковые кейсы и мягкое железо.
🥳❤️👍🏿
Stack boxes n store mini friends

I keep my armies in my sleevies
Ha I actually made a video on doing this a few months back. Great minds think alike!
