I also went to boarding house myself and suffered. Yes the indians stick together, and take part in each others child care for free, and we dont have that. Train your child and build relationshios with them. One side doesnt fit all anymore for children.
i think the reason we don't really have that community bcos every parent of today are extremely protective of their child, they can't another person in their community correct their child, you automatically turn to their family's enemies that is why teachers have suffered in the hands of these parents. Another related angle, I can't correct your child but you want to correct mine? No way. That's why community parenting doesn't work.
Boarding school was my worst nightmare! It made me so insecure and reduced my self esteem drastically. i hated it and i couldn't say anything about it because that was kinda the only option. I suffered till around ss2. Pls not all child needs to go to boarding school. Every child is different.
Not all children need to go to boarding house ohh...Some kids suffer that emotional abandonment without their parents, especially the ones whose plan is to just let schools do the parenting for them .Your kids will return as strangers. They learn to cope without you and then you start wondering why they are not close to you
Who are the Matron/House Master of your boarding house? I will for life be grateful for lrelish Nun my Matron! It was care and love galaore. Today your child is dealing with Ibo phobia ,Iya Ijebu,Iya Ijesha, Aboki .The child is as cool as her parents. School environment is secondary!
I do not have anything against the Queens of the Views opinions but it has to be pointed out that this whole panel is biased. The fact is even though they all have negative opinions about boarding schools but forget to point out that tough love molds them into the strong Black Queen they are today. In fact I dare said it was that hard life and experience in boarding that gave them an edge in life and got them to be on the panel of THE VIEW. One thing is for sure if Tope had not faced that hard knock-life in boarding, she wouldn't have grown up to appreciate the lives she enjoyed before going to boarding and after her mother withdrew her from that school, I bet she sat up and wasn't the spoilt brat she was before then because now she understands the value of the privileged she had.
Do you want an award for suffering? Who does that? You should live permanently in Nigeria. It’s full of people who were raised the hard way. You guys can’t even live there because you can live with the consequences of that type of upbringing on 200 million people. Yet you want to celebrate it from the comfort of a society that chooses not to celebrate trauma.
No Sir/Ma. Nyma didn't go to boarding school like millions other people in Nigeria today. We mustn't necessarily suffer before we are wise. There's suffering, there's training. Suffering might be damaging
The hierarchy of vulnerability equals level of support from government in the West. Animals (pets) first, children, then women. It's no longer a brainer that African wives get abroad and turn something else cos of the protection; yes you might defend them that it's because their husbands haven't realised the change of environment. That might also be right but a major factor is that the women know that the law gives them priority. Now same applies to a teenager that is fully aware that he can disobey his parents without ANY consequences, it puts the parents in difficult situation. The gangsterism is even a no go area cos he can end up stabbing or being stabbed with sharp objects. However, the boy needs to define abandonement - are there no other children in the school? Did they not pay for his feeding/provisions?
Shai!! I am so GRATEFUL for my boys🙌🏾🙌🏾 So proud of my oldest right now. 2 years in naija boarding👏🏾🙏🏾 Tope's experience was like mine oo! Punished for being tall and everything that came out of my mouth was rude. I didn't leave, though😊 I went totally prepared for boarding because I had listened to my older ones' experiences. My Spirit refused to be broken. One of the reasons I didn't take my boys to a public boarding school. I think that if you haven't raised children outside of Africa, you can't really talk on the matter.
BeeCee looks SOOOO good today!!!! Awww (Thank God I'm alive to see this show, I recently escaped One-chance )

Parenting abroad is painful especially for as a single parents.

Obigari is too hyper nowadays. She needs to slow down.

I tell you. Most of them see things on TV or few experiences and use it as the norm. In addition Nigeria has so well train people that are so corrupt.
