I’m using my Autopot for the first time flowering out a over 2 month old mother plant. In a 3.9 gallon Autopot I transplanted her today and watered until I saw runoff. Do I pour out the runoff? She already has a good root system so I’m figuring maybe a week to top feed right? It may sound like I know what I’m doing but I’m nervous as hell hoping I’m doing this right
I think this autopot is a fabulous idea as, first, you can go away for a week holiday without a worry. And second, in my case I live at the moment in a small rental and I need to be discreet so a good carbon filter and less opening of the grow tent to water both the plants every day is so much better. I would have the reservoir just outside the tent and I could go 2-3 days without opening the tent... Now I am using super soil type so heavier than 50/50 perlite... from the comments I could get the space base that you put in the bottom to make sure it is airier. I could get like the bottom 2-3 inches of 50/50 perlite though. Airdomes would be a bit of a pain (extra plug LOL) and then top dress and water a pint or two before it goes into flower. Thrilled to buy the autopot and try.
Hey pat, great video as always! Quick question: In one of the videos on the channel a pump with 1L/min was recommended for the airdomes. Does that mean if i want to equip 6 autopots i need a 6L/min airpump?
Yes that is true. He uses 100% coco with an airbase + airdome. He has been using the system for 4+ years so while I wouldn’t recommend that strategy to a new AutoPot grower, it’s possible to use the system in many different ways to grow some amazing plants. We prefer people to start out with a 50/50 blend to get a feel for the system before going to different directions but to each their own!
Hey everyone a viewer noticed I was kind of confusing talking EC and ppm. So let’s fix that. For AutoPots as a general rule of thumb, on the ppm 500 scale, stay at 700 ppm (1.5EC) or below in veg and 1100 ppm (2.2EC) or below in flower
@@509Finds EC=Electrical Conductivity. LIke PPM (Parts per million), or TDS (Total disolved solids), It's a measuring unit for the amount of nutrients in your water.
EC is measured in mS/cm (the unit your tool uses, as you can see in the display), TDS is measured in ppm (parts per million) and can have several different scales, commonly 500. Therefore, an EC of 1 mS/cm corresponds to a TDS of 500 ppm on the 500 scale. 1000 ppm as you suggested would definitely be an overfeeding, potentially harming your plants. That's pretty basic stuff. Other than that, good video. Tip: cover the top of the substrate, whether soil or coco, with a layer of clay pebbles in order to keep it moist and favor even root growth.
Depends on how we’re growing. Some nutrients hold pH better than others. If we’re using a nutrient line where the pH fluctuates, we’ll find one that doesn’t as much or add a recirculating pump to the reservoir and that helps keep things stable. Sometimes we’ll just use water in the reservoir with organic living soil in the pot and we never check the pH. There are many different ways to use an autopot system and nutrients in the res is just one of the ways. It all depends but we’d be happy to talk you through the options if you reach out at info@autopot-usa.com

Good video bro! I just set up my Auto pot XL 4 pot 6.6 system last weekend the plants were vegging for about 6 to 8 wks in gallon pots a big root ball I was thinking I would be able to turn the system on in 7 to 10 days as the plants were all ready big, what your thoughts on it. I all so have the air domes
After you transplant into the 6.6 gal XL pots, I would top feed for 2 weeks to make sure the plant and root zone acclimate to the larger pot. I would wait to turn on the AirDomes until after you turn on the system. After the AirDomes are on, run them with your lights so they turn on with your lights and turn off with your lights.
CX Horticulture nutrients is it a good line an a big harvest with big buds an I use advanced nutrients but the additives plug the foam filter have to clean it after every nutrients change cuz its plugged
Question, i just bought the 4 pot XL using fabric pots.they guy at the store said using fabric i don't need the air dome, i do have the air base though. I'm using promix hp, worm castings and perlite. I mixed in coco in the bottom with 50/50 perlite . Will this work and wick and drain ok , again im not using an air dome
You'll be fine without an AirBase if you're using a 50/50 blend. AirDomes are best incorporating when using heavier blends with less oxygen retention capacity like a 70/30 or 80/20 blend.
Nice demonstration but i was wondering if using fabric pots would you still need 50/50? Also would an air dome still ve recommended in the fabric pots? Those plants are huge in that 2gal would you transplant
We recommend a 50/50 blend regardless of pot type. Since it’s a constant feeding system, you can use a lighter mix and you’re plants will thrive as food will always be available. An airdome will help if you’re using a heavier blend, like a 70/30 or 80/20. With it being heavier and able to hold more water, it helps to have an airdome in the mix whereas with a 50/50 blend, you don’t need an airdome.
You always should use a drainage layer unless you’re using one of our largest pots in the XXL System (9 gal or 13 gal). Airdomes are best incorporated if using a heavier substrate blend, such as 70/30 or more. We recommend a 50/50 blend of coco or soil with perlite or ph stabilized clay pebbles. You don’t need an airdome if you’re using a lighter blend.
The tubing can vary depending on the reservoir used. If using a FlexiTank, you can either use a 1/2" inline filter if you want a 1/2" main line or a 1/2" - 3/8" inline filter if you want to reduce the 1/2" line to the same 3/8" OD line that connects to the AQUAvalves. The specs of our tubing is as follows: 1/2" Tubing - 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD, 3/8" OD Tubing - 6.35mm ID x 9.1mm OD. Both styles of tubing are custom made for the AutoPot System - www.autopot-usa.com/product-category/fittings/piping/ As far as differing lengths of tubing, yes, that is fine. We recommend to try and keep it as even as possible but you will be fine if there is some variation between your tubing lengths.
Yes, you typically don’t need an airdome with a 50/50 blend. It’s when you start to stray from that and use a heavier mix that we recommend implementing an AirDome
? When the pots just sitting in the tray with water I’m worried about root rot! My question is should I turn the system off and let the pots dry a little after about 2 to 3days of water … if that make any sense
The grow media is never really 'sitting in water' as you use a 1" drainage layer of either perlite no3, pH stable clay pebbles or one of our reusable AutoPot AirBases. This elevates the media so it's never actually sitting in water as the water level in the tray only fills to about 3/4". This prevents it from becoming overwatered.
No, they are not. Residuals salts end up in the top few inches of the substrate where it stays dry and roots do not grow. We flush up in AutoPot, not down and out. In some cases, you can see salt flakes on top of the substrate if using a salt heavy line.
I am in Europe and I don't if is an expression we don't use, I am also originally Italian, but what does it mean "I run my runoff 15% maybe 20%?" Thanks
Run-off is the overwatering when you water your plants. The excess water than ends up in the pot base. Usually a good thing is to measure the run-off to check if ppd is fine (or PH). It is the best way to control your plant health. You need a PPD meter and a PH meter. For example if you water your plant at 500ppm and the run-off is over 500 ppm it means that your plant cannot take so much. A run-off of water + nutrients at 500ppm should be like 200 ppm for example. PPM for veg is ok around 500-900 flower 900-1,500 is fine. Some people go up to 2,000-1,2500 and the plants take it so all strains are different. For PH if you water at 6.2ph and run-off is 8ph it means that you need to flush as soil has too much ph. I am no expert but hope that helps.
just a question, when using hydroponics we should get run off during feeds to push out old salts/minerals, if you use the auto pot and it feeds from below is it possible to get build up? and also should you flush earlier using this system since your not top feeding to flush the old nutrients out.
The top few inches of substrate remains dry by design and roots don't grow in this area because of it. Capillary lift will push the residual salts up to this zone where roots don't grow. We flush up in AutoPot instead of down and out. Also, you flush like you normally would with AutoPot. If you normally flush two weeks out from harvest, flush for that same amount of time with AutoPot. Put just water in your reservoir or water and let the system do its thing. Thanks!
He was pretty much using water only in the reservoir which in that case, you won’t have to worry about cleaning it. The more additives/nutrients you put in the reservoir, the more often it will need cleaning. If you’re using a living soil blend like BAS 3.0 and water in the res, you’ll pretty never have to clean the reservoir.
