Man same! The key is the clipper-over-comb which you really can’t do on a self-cut because you have to hold the mirror. We have to get creative when doing any fades or tapers on these long curls!

Came back to add I have basically the same hair texture as him, less dense tho and patches of looser curls. And my hair is NOT easy to cut. I cut my own hair sometimes and it def be a struggle lol. This is also the cut I’m rocking rn

Yeah curly hair is tough to get a nice shape going. You either take too much weight off n it’s too square or you leave too much. But you killed it bro
If that's the case it seems like that curly hair is well suited for undercut styles more than a a smooth fade though the smooth fade is still an option. Since it's in between wavy and afro textured hair and the hair lays down after a certain length an undercut seems more logical than a fade. The texture looks nice.
My man went back to 1992 with that Raheem cut from the movie JUICE. But much more refined and cleaner...very nice young blood.

I wish we could comment pictures I cut my nephew hair is very curly and he’s mixed. It’s a fro but more so towards Mexican texture, but still blended with black texture. It’s very difficult to cut, but he gets a taper too
7:04 Nice cut frfr but on the clients behalf I understand not wanting a big forehead or your hairline pushed back I hate the shit too, BUT! His natural hairline isn’t his baby hair and using enhancements is nice and all but that’s gnna wash out soon as he gets home and shower unless semi permanent which washes out eventually. I’d rather take a slightly pushed back hairline than having one made up by baby hairs. Extra maintenance and not natural. Ima have to invest ina bottle of hairspray just to keep my baby hair down and straight to look like a hairline lol. That’s doing too much.
