For the manga, the cover of each volume of Spy x Family features a major character and shows items that relate to their outer image/personality, but beneath the chair each character sits on are things that showcase their true personality. For Damian, he sits smug on a massive chair, but behind that chair are toys, comics, and games. Damian wants to be a star student so he can get his father’s approval, but at the end of the day he’s a kid who just wants to have fun and enjoy his childhood.
Honestly yeah… at her age she probably doesn’t get it. I mean heck… I’m not even sure that Damien fully understands his feelings either considering their age. (although I have seen some kids date, but they probably still don’t 100% understand) Even if I ship them (and most of the fandom), I’m aware there is no way they are going to be close to canon right now (considering their standing with each other currently, Anya’s ulterior motives, and their age). But it’s still funny to watch Damien be an absolute disaster around Anya and him not even understanding why yet. It’s really just comedy to the audience at this point- not really a relationship to take seriously. If people ship it then fine, but if they can’t understand why they won’t get together soon- then that’s kind of a problem. And if they sexualize them like in fanart, then that’s REALLY a problem (especially since they’re probably not even aged up in the manga yet- I haven’t read it but I’m just guessing) since it would promote that sexualizing kids is okay, which it’s absolutely not! Plus them getting together at this point would: 1. Be way too unrealistic even for anime standards. 2. Would not make for good character development and would be a waste (coming for a writer’s POV). Heck, even Loid and Yor (the actual adults) have things to work out before THEY can become canon. Since in the latest few episodes, Loid was prepared to take advantage of Yor’s “feelings” for the mission. As the audience we know this is not morally correct (even if it’s for right reasons), but it also shows Loid has to grow quite a bit as a character before him and Yor become canon. So yeah… a lot of the characters have room to grow and there is a lot of potential for that. So do I expect Anya and Damien to get together: no (unless they have a timeskip or side story; other than that it would take a LOOONG time in the series). Is it cute in a potential sense: yes. Is it possible that they COULD actually become TRUE friends: yes but it would take a lot of work on both sides. Do I expect Loid and Yor to be canon soon: eh… not quite yet. Can I expect good growth from many characters in this show: yes. Everyone can have different perspectives on this topic, but that’s just my personal take on this. If you have anything you agree or disagree with: I’m all ears and will not crucify you for your own personal opinion.
