    He Lives by Church of the City. What a great song! Because Jesus lives, we have forgiveness of sins, justification, propitiation, sanctification, glorification, adoption, an advocate with the Father…the resurrection is everything! Because Jesus lives, we have a great High Priest who rules and reigns with all authority over all creation RIGHT NOW. Hallelujah!

    Thank you so much brother. Most of all for the Gospel focus! Yes! And also for realizing that most of us are the ONLY electric guitarist in our worship bands.

    My personal favorite thing about the lyrics is the direct ascribing of glory, honor, and power to Jesus. I grew up in the era of “we give you all the honor. We give you all the praise” etc. As though he should be SO glad we’re worshipping him because he really needs that. This song simply declares that its all his wether we give it to him or not.

    I have a vintage select 59 sparkle jet set up like your penguin. Has the banjo arm guard on it. Love the guitar. It does everything so well.

    James Duke, was the guitarist on the original track. So with that being said there would have been mostly delay and not really any kind of reverb because he only uses reverb for super ambient sessions she likes to use low mix long delay time analog sounds for his delay, with the tube screamer in the morning glory for gain.

      Thanks, Matthew! I’m familiar with James Duke. If you know me at all, I enjoy reverb and think it makes everything sound better and bigger. This is a very tame amount of reverb for me, LOL. 😂😂

      @@GuitarforHISGloryI hadn't watched the video yet, when I made this Comment. But I very much know your love of reverb which is why I made the comment in first place😂

      LOL. I find that hilarious. I have a reputation! You'd be proud. I toned down the 'verb a ton!

    Great song! I just recorded that song for my church for Easter yesterday. While we’re on the topic for Church of the City, you should definitely check out the song You Keep Hope Alive, it’s such a banger!

    Troy, that Gretsch sounds so good! I think that’s my favorite guitar of yours. I always love the small devos before the playing, they’re always really encouraging and help keep me centered on what’s truly important, and not on guitar. Thanks for all you do man, God Bless you.

    The guitar to this song kind of reminds me of The Smashing Pumpkins “Bring the Light” even though they are both pretty different. I really enjoy the crescendo to this song.

    Question for you man. Do you usually guess on the effects (reverb/delay) like as close as you can get to the original? or do you watch the guys from bethel/elevation/Hillsong etc?

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  4 роки тому +1

      zac garcia I intently listen to the track for a length of time. I then play it through my studio monitors/IEMs while I play along and attempt to capture the essence of the sound I hear. If I need to make preferential adjustments from there, I do so without completely forsaking the original intent of the part/sound. Hope that makes sense.

    Why do you suppose Gretsch guitars are so popular in worship music?

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  4 роки тому

      J Gray Partly because we follow like sheep. Partly because they sound pretty good and are decently versatile. They’re not my favorite, and I don’t think they are as popular as they were 5-6 years ago.

    • @kckrye
      @kckrye 2 роки тому

      I didn't follow like sheep. I was gifted a beautiful sparkle jet. I played it in worship and it did everything so well. It became my number one. When I didn't play it, I would hear...man that song was lacking something or, those guitar parts didn't sound as big. So I play it all the time. Now that I watch all these new worship videos im seeing more and more Gretsch guitars. Used to be everyone was on the "Bethel" Veritas train.

    Hey man.. How do you transpose a lead guitar to any key you want on a particular song? lets say the original key is C and you want to play in the key of B.. with the lead parts.. how would you do it?
    if that makes sense..

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  4 роки тому

      Emmanuel Chavez This requires more than a few sentences to explain. I have a video about transposing at GuitarforHISGLORY.com. 👍🏻

    • @4evermetal92
      @4evermetal92 4 роки тому +1

      In short, you would move everything (notes) a half step down to be in the key of B. It’s a little more than that but that’s basically all it is.

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  4 роки тому

      You’re example was an easy case, and Zac is exactly right. The challenge comes when it’s a drastic change, such as a fourth. That requires more brain power and fretboard knowledge! 🤣

    • @kckrye
      @kckrye 4 роки тому

      Nashville number system helps in transposing and then I move everything.
