    My four male littermates are having an actual “piss war” at four years old. They are neutered and woke up one day and decided to destroy my sanity. Neutering seems to have little effect on the urge to christen every vertical surface in the house

      Could they have changed the cat litter formula? I had a similar problem many years ago when all of my cats started pooping right outside the litter box. I noticed a change in the clumping of the litter, when I googled to see if the formula had changed, the company said it didn't but many other cat owners were having the problem. I changed litter and the problems stopped

    I purchased a litter robot with an open top earlier this year and my cat actually took to it fairly easily. It’s been a lifesaver for me as I was tearing my hair out with the old box being a constant smelly mess and going through litter much faster. Only now in the last week she’s begun to pee right in front of it instead of in the box. She always did go in the nearest corner on the edge so after the first time or two with a small amount I thought it was just a positioning problem but now it seems like she’s deliberately missing the litter. I do a cleaning cycle daily without her present so she doesn’t get scared by the automation. So it’s always immaculate and she’s never been picky about the type of litter I use. I’ve changed brands many times without a problem.

    Funny that you'd post this. My cat is peeing both inside and outside of the litter box. It's becoming more and more of a thing for him to not use the box. I'm pretty sure he's got something wrong with him. We will be scheduling an appointment asap because I'm afraid of all of the things you mentioned, outside of stress. All the health things.
    Just, fyi, we have two cats and actually four stainless steel boxes. They're all in the same room because we live in an apartment. They're also on a kennel tray, lined with puppy pads for when he decides to pee there. He and his sister are very respectful of each other when it comes to box usage, so that isn't a problem either. I highly recommend the stainless steel boxes, they're so much easier to clean, they don't get those scratches from the cats digging so there's nothing for the litter to embed itself into. You can also look into hotel service pans, too, they tend to be more economical and come in a variety of sizes.

      Thank you so much for your post. I hope your kitty is okay. It's always scary when they're sick. I've been thinking about changing to stainless litter boxes. Could you please tell me, are they really noisy especially when there's scratching to cover up their ways?

    My boy isn't spiteful, BUT it comes across that way as he is extremely picky about his boxes... yes, he has two. He is longer and taller, and we needed to buy him large flat tote containers to use as boxes. That way he had lots of room to do his business. He is also picky about litter, so initially he also had to have multiple types to choose a preference. He will urinate elsewhere ONLY if there is an issue like too much stool, something has fallen in or near the box, etc. He is extremely intelligent and I had no idea a cat could be so particular.

    My cats are excellent litterbox users, until we get other cats in the house.
    Even if the other cats are kept away in a different area of the house, one of my originals will start to pee outside the box.
    I have 3 huge boxes for 2 cats. We'll soon have the other cats join the household for at least a year. I'm not sure how to prevent the pee problem under those circumstances.

    Fortunately, my cats are comfortable using the large covered boxes. I have to use covered ones due to the peeing posture of one of them - she would pee over the side of a regular box. As for scented litters, these can actually produce severe allergic reactions.

    When I got my two cats, I started with kibble litter and pee pads. The bigger of the two cats used it only have the time. But after switching to clay litter it hasn’t been a problem since.

    Does a female cat pee outside the box when she’s on heat? I can see she is stressed because I don’t let her out, the fixing appointment is for December and it’s enough stress to have her in heat and now peeling at my bed, not all her pees, maybe one every two or three days

    I’m using pine pellets..much cheaper,easier to clean. It took a couple of weeks of mixing it with the clumping stuff,but now they use it,except for one stubborn old girl. Ps I have fourteen rescues..and fourteen boxes..

    My darling little girl (18 in November) always pees in her box even with her arthritis. She still likes to jump , run and chase her toy mouse on elastic on a stick . 🐀She gets a completely clean litter box every 2 to 3 days. ❤ I love her so😽😍😘😻. Even when she gets a bit constipated and poops outside her box. Even when she rubs her little bum along the carpet to loosen the poo and clean her little bum. I will always clean up after her. It is no trouble. She always tells me after she has pooped so I can get it and flush it away and clean up. When I change her box It is washed with hot soapy water and fresh new litter replaced . Cats deserve to be treated as we would treat ourselves. They are so clean. Homeopathic remedies are the best. You, as a vet give wonderful advice. In all my years of having cats, I have yet to have a good experience with a vet. The drugs have serious side effects, worse than the ailment. Homeopathy, for my girls, is absolutely the best. Plus you can't beat Provodine Iodine to clear up any small cuts, and conjunctivitis as well as Hypercal by Welleda🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛😘😍😽🙏🧚. Nischa has not been to the vet in well over a year. She is eating well, and is very happy. She only comes outside with me. We just love each other. 💕Love Is always the answer. ❤️😽💕🧚

    I'm currently having a terrible time with my female cat peeing outside the box. Her and I have lived in two previous places, neither with carpeting ... no problems. Now, this third place has carpeting and she's decided to not use the box. I am so frustrated, and I absolutely hate carpeting, anyway. What a nightmare it is.

    How about training them to use the toilet? Do you advocate that? Why do or don't you advocate it?

    • @whiteknightcat
      @whiteknightcat Місяць тому

      I think that was covered here a long time ago. Most people seem to recommend against it. Training them to do so does not benefit the cat - it bypasses their natural behaviors and instinct in order to make things convenient for US.

    • @clayrains3496
      @clayrains3496 Місяць тому

      @whiteknightcat I don't agree with that at all. Animals can be trained and socialized and should be. If we go by that logic then we need to treat ALL pets and animals different, and I am certain it will not benefit them or us if we did that.

    I have to say, I still think my cat is still spiteful as one day I changed him of the kitchen table and that night he peed on my dring cloth, so I am sorry but with my cat if you get to know him you really can see when he is spiteful or when he is to sick to pee in the box. And yes, I get why people send cats to the shelter because after having this cat, I never ever want another cat in my life. 😢 sad but true. The pee thing what my cat does is too much, combined with his licking and pulling out hair.

      Sounds like you're not liking your cat . cat please with your hair catches being a cat . did you look at all the video to see if it would help you . Have you took her to the doctor if she's like in any pain because she's trying to tell you that she's hurting . Have you took her to the doctors to see if she needs a dental . Cats aren't spiteful it's sticky and humans that think that there's spiteful . cats are innocent animals and don't think stuff like that not the way how humans beans think and try to spiteful things . you shouldn't really put that with your cat . you need to try loving your cat a little bit more and shower cap but love it sounds like you don't really like a cat too much do I talk and if you're catch peanut around I mean really shouldn't grow attitude with them .

      Cats aren't "spiteful". Please don't attribute human emotions to cats. There's something wrong and you're not decoding what the cat is telling you.
