- Hello everyone! In this video I'm going to make a tier list of the English dubbed voices of the game Tactics Ogre Reborn according to my opinion, I hope you like it!

In general i think that the voice acting for this game was well done, the one big exception being Lanselot Tartaros. Even he *almost* worked although he was just a little too glib to be truly threatening.
I wasnt expecting Brian George to be the voice of Duke Ronway! Many people will know him to see him although he often uses a different accent when he plays a character in live action such as the restauranteur Babu in Seinfeld.
It's a very personal analysis, there are people who even like the dubbing of Tartaros. But overall the voice acting is very well done, considering it's such a niche game

made me look up the voice actress for Arycelle, and she actually has a nice range of voice on different anime and games. shame that the voice direction for this one went like that tho, lol.
As I said, when there's a problem in this regard, the biggest culprit is the dubbing director. It's hardly the fault of the voice actor

Andoras is my favorite character voice and I didn't even recognice it was the same voice for Xaebos!
A couple thoughts:
-Olivia is good, but dang her elemental temple dialogue sounds off for some reason.
-Really a fan of Catiua, though, but she sounds and acts a lot like my wife, so it kinda just clicked.
-No named Generics? Felicia deserves a prize for making a player discover the Dismiss mechanic immediately.
-Liked all of the others, though.
-I liked Ocionne, she seems like she's been through shit.
-Damn Azelstan's voice actor really pulled it off, one of those thay really got me into this version.
Seriously? You're going to make me play all of chapter 4 just so I can see this, damn it!
Catiua is really complicated, hahaha
I looked in several places for the english voice actors for the generic ones, but I only found the japanese, it's a real shame
Occione doesn't touch my heart, Diego is really one of the stars!
@@WarrenReport Sounds about right to me. Also, yeah, she was the only survivor on my initial run, and considering the likelihood of that, it's super weird how bad it sounds compared to not only the other lines, but also the other sisters for the same scene.

29:27 Cool video idea. I like your opinions. My favorite voice in the entire game was Andoras. I felt like he had the perfect condesending tone earlier in the game. When you defeat Andoras on top of the Hanging Gardens, his final words are so cool, and got me super pumped for the last couple final battles!
Andoras is a good voice, but to be in the higher positions of the list it needs to really be something surprising, unfortunately that wasn't the case for me

Disagree with a lot of the list, personally (I feel like a lot of the more unique and interesting voices placed low). I actually felt that Vyce was on the weaker end, if I had to pick someone negative. He's fine at snarky, but any time he had to emote, it sounded a little forced and hammy to me, like someone trying really hard to act. I preferred Catiua's VA a whole lot more. Oelias was one of the weakest ones for me-- very melodramatic delivery. For the most part, everyone was excellent, though.
I'd say that Tartaros was definitely a voice that I didn't expect going in and required an adjustment period, but ended up sounding way better and more full of character and pomposity than the more stereotypical villain voice that I had expected and imagined beforehand. He'd be near the top for me.
Nybeth stands alone as the best in the game, IMO.
My problem with Tartaros is much more in the intonation and phrasing than the voice itself. In many scenes he looks like Jared Leto's joker, and that takes away all the mystery and threat on him
I'll admit at first i didnt like Tartaros VA at all but the more i played it grew on me and i ended up really liking it especially having just played KOL, his voice actor a little bit of Alphonse shines through which i feel suits Tartaros
I've met a lot of people who also got used to it and started to like Tartaros' voice... I haven't gotten to that process myself yet
Balbatos is weird because this VA fits very well for the version of him portrayed in PSP/Reborn, but not so much for how he was originally introduced (kind face; wicked soul).
Jeunan is actually my favorite VA in the game. He adds a lot to every scene he's in. Hobyrim is also very very good.
Tartaros isn't as bad as you say, but he was way better cast in the Sega Saturn version. That performance was the protoype for Sosuke Aizen, who's really similar to Tartaros.
I've seen a lot of people saying that they like the dubbing of Tartaros, I think it ends up being a personal opinion in this case. The dubbing of it on Saturn, or even on Reborn but in Japanese is much better in my opinion, maybe I'll make a video analyzing the Japanese voices now, I'm considering it

I'd personally move Vyce, Cerya, Brantyn, Ronwey, and Gildas up to Perfect. Didn't personally think Leonar or Hamilton's voices particularly matched their character art, so I'd move them down a peg (even though the acting is good). I'd move Catiua to Good, though I prefer her PSP voice interpretation, which was perfect. Would also bump Cressida and Ravness up to Good or Perfect.
Serious? I don't see anything great in the voice acting of Cressida or Ravness... For something to be perfect for me, it needs to move my heart. Everyone ends up having a different opinion on this matter
I definitely think interpretation of Cressida (gothic emo teen) and Ravness (big girl who protect others rather than being protected) as good alternative interpretation from voice of waifu (soprano) as Japanese or most of fans would imagine about them. This makes them more like living characters that suit their role in story rather than just object of affections created as poster girl for boys to dream about and sell the game as originally this game is too serious to have any waifu archetype. I agree with you completely about Lans Tartaros, this case is crime against the best character in the franchise.@@WarrenReport
I'm watching the Japanese dub and Ravness in particular is much better without being a waifu type voice, video coming soon!

I love Martym's voice and Lans T is underrated. Arycelle should be war crime.
I thought about putting her there, but I think war crime is a category for those that there's a lot of expectation, Arycelle didn't have that for me. Terrible anyway

You are very kind, it would be really great to make more people know about the Ogre Battle saga
Every moment pre-release looking at the trailers I was like "let me hear Tartaros, let me hear Tartaros"... then I actually heard him, and alas. Otherwise agree for the most part; I think only one you underrate is Martym, although I might just be conflating the performance with how great his lines at Grimsby are.
I tried to be very objective evaluating only the voice and the interpretation of the dubbing, if I were to consider how well written the lines are the list would be TOTALLY different hehehe
Canopus, Ozma and Deneb are my favorite characters and love their voice choice
There is also the narrator that speaks at the start of chapters. imo, I'd give the voice a good rating. Recounting the events with a voice that calls your attention with suspenseful disposition
Unfortunately I searched and didn't find the credit for many of the English dubs, but I agree with you, the narrator is fantastic!

I loved the Golyat 3 voices, most of the casting I found great even Tartaros. In the game you almost never directly confront him, he always felt more like a clever snake type of character trying to manipulate everyone around him for nefarious purpose so I found the voice appropriate. Lanselot sounded too...flat (?) for my taste on the other hand. Worse than any others, Ravness voice made me hate the character to the point I did not use her at all when she's usually one of my go-to. Now that it has an english patch I need to go through the Saturn version for comparison !
I'll be making a video with the Japanese voiceovers of Reborn as well, who knows, maybe some of these characters will move up the list?
Also, Latimer and Felicia would be best duo

Stephanie Sheh is actually a very talented voice actor. Voice director must have done some real magic to make her this bad.
Glad to see Balxephon being recognized. His performance made me wish he was the main villain.
A bad voice acting director (or one with a very wrong perception about the end result) can spoil a great voice actor, that's true! Balxephon is really awesome, period!

I always disliked Denams voice, not because of voice acting but he was so loud compared to other characters and it doesn't even sound like VA shouted. The studio for some reason decided to edit his voice this way making it hard to get used to for me

Ravness was / is the absolute best IMO. Very distinctive. Shame on your opinion! 😂. I agree she sounds much too old though for 23.
Taste is something very particular, I must say
War crime: Arycelle, Ravness, Lancelot.
Most of them, including the enemy boss clerics and random boses have nice voices. The main character voices mostly is how I pictured them in my head.
Myrdin and Jeunan and Warrens voices couldve been better. Lancelot two eye is not very great either.
Good list, I considered these ones for War Crime as well, but I think that to be there besides being bad they need to be misinterpreted and negatively break all expectations, none of the others did this to me like Tartaros did

All of them did a good job ( Arycelle is a little expectation tough, sounds so fake and no one talks like that)
Edit: I know I sound aggressive but no, I am disappointed. I have been consuming japanese media for years and knowing how voice actors try to make their voice really high pitched always bothered me. I thought there's no way people really want to hear child like voices that much.
