    Thank you so much for these helpful videos! It seems to me that when Jackson was accidentally turning that would be a perfect time to practice flip to float. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @TessaRhodes
      @TessaRhodes  Рік тому +1

      You would think it would be the perfect time to practice that, but in my experience, I have found that if the child hasn't mastered back floating independently and consistently, rolling over is a struggle for both the student and the teacher. But once back floating becomes second nature for the child; teaching them to roll over is a piece of cake.

    Does anyone else find themselves holding their breath?😂

    My 13 month old has basically taught herself to do all this, and even does some kicking and froggy arms to propel herself under the water. But she doesn’t know how to get back above water, even if it’s shallow enough for her to stand in. I’ve been turning her onto her back and assisting her float. What would you do next? I like how this baby grabs his mom’s shirt to pull himself up, but mine is usually swimming away from me!

      I recommend teaching her to turn to safety. Here's a link to the video on how to teach it. ua-cam.com/video/WJoWk4jmEjo/v-deo.html I hope you find it helpful.

    How long does the entire course take to implement? I was wondering if I had access to a holiday pool for a week or two?

      If your baby is 12 months old and they're completely new to being exposed to water, it would take between 5 and 6 months to learn all the skills taught in the course.

    Do I need to teach holding their breath before trying this? We have are own pool and he is pretty exposed to water but we don’t take him under the water yet. He puts his face in the water in his kiddy pool and during bath so seems ready to go under in the big pool. He is almost 15 months.

      Yes. I recommend you take my free course. One section is all about how to condition your baby to hold their breath. It goes into great detail. The course is designed for the 0 to 8-month-old, but the conditioning part is appropriate for all baby ages including your 15-month-old. I'm sorry, I only have limited content on my UA-cam channel. But, if you're interested in the course, here's the link to purchase it: onlineswimacademy.thinkific.com/courses/teach-babies-to-swim-12-to-18-months. I hope this answers your question, but please let me know if there's anything else I can assist with.

    We’ve been using all of your techniques regularly with my now 13 month old (since he was about 4 months old). He loves the water and goes under willingly and is improving his breath control. One area we’re still struggling with is back floating. He fights itv every time…any suggestions?

      I'm so glad the videos help and that your baby is doing so well in the water. Your baby's reaction to back floating is very typical. Once they can sit up, they don't want to be on their backs anymore. Here's a link to an unlisted video that I think you'll find helpful. ua-cam.com/video/idW23wZvqOA/v-deo.html
