With his passing and all the attention on the movie, we had an increase in budget and we are making sure it’s the best it can be. We don’t want to announce an official release date as we don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. I can confirm, the film is in no legal trouble. We are still looking to go theatrical as well. Hopefully, The Legend of the White Dragon will be released to unfathomable success and would further honor the memory of one of the greatest martial arts actors in history, the legendary Jason David Frank. May he continue to rest in peace and power.
The guys at Bat in the Sun have done a few live streams on Twitter regarding the film. They claim that when they thought the film was done there was actually a lot more to do in post than they had thought, likely confirming your suggestion about the SPFX, They claimed they are hoping but can far from guarantee a release on JDF bday which is early September around Labor Day. They also back pedaled a bit on the theatrical release saying they were hoping for a limited theatrical release but it was up the distributor. Again they didn’t specify anything but I would guess it might be something like a Fathom events akin to how the Shin Films were released for a few specific dates in chosen theaters. So still not a whole lot to pin down as far as time and release of film but they did assure everyone the film will eventually be released.
I hope we do get to see this movie and i hope that the rumors I heard are true. I heard that his daughter when she's old enough would like to play the Green ranger in honor of her father. Rest in peace Jason, WE ALL miss you, OUR Green Ranger.
Hey Omni Viewer!, this is a unrelated question but what are your thoughts on the three part episode “Monster Wars” from Godzilla: The Series in which it’s a big homage to Destroy All Monsters?
Being inspired by Power Rangers could mean that giant robots are involved. And giant robots mean elaborate special effects. So, yeah, I can see that as a reason for the delay. Fun fact: The director, Aaron Schoenke, also portrays antagonist Dragon Prime in the film. Along with the many short films he's directed for Bat in the Sun, he also directed an official promotional short for the Power Rangers: Legacy Wars video game called Power Rangers Legacy Wars: Street Fighter Showdown, which includes several characters from Capcom's Street Fighter games.
