About the prices: I think they just list the prices for the books and for the covers separately. As far as I know, the “Have a nice day” cover is not real leather.
I’m going to buy the Tomitaro Makino stuff (at least the cover in A5, the HON in Cousin size and the A5 pencil board), perhaps the Vacances cover (I like blue and yellow haha) and for sure the white One Piece leather cover. Still using the black One Piece trifold cover for my A6 creative journal even though it’s about to outgrow the trifold. Love this cover!
Edit: Oh, and I bought the TS Techo cover (the pouch for the A6 Techo), I believe, two years ago. In my opinion, it was worth it (meaning: I’ve been using it constantly ever since I got it). Same for the Stappo pouch you looked at that they had last year for the very first time. It does fit the Weeks (and my B6 Common Planner. Like, both, and there is still room for more.)

Now they have corrected the prices so that the book set is more expensive than just the cover, as it used to be in previous years.
You are right, I didn't realize it's PU leather. That does explain the low price.
About that, have you had covers from Hobonichi that have PU? If so, how do you like it?
I think I was raised up to hate blue and yellow together, but maybe I shouldn't go to details, so that I only keep it as my own problem 😂
From your shopping list I could guess you are getting free shipping 👍🏼
Ah, don't tempt me with the pouches 🫣 I can't use the no dated planners rule for those 😂

@@Katiplans I never bought a full-on PU leather cover from Hobonichi, but I do have the Safari 2 trifold that is mostly cloth but has PU leather at the edges. So far, it's holding up nicely - no issues with PU leather peeling off or anything. (That once happened with a black handbag I owned, but I will say that it was a cheap bag. I was still sad because I loved that bag.)
I'm assuming it's got something to do with the time Finland was under Swedish rule - you hinted at that a longer time ago ... As for me, I just like complementary colours and blue is my favourite overall (if we don't count black as a colour haha). I also like anything that reminds me of water, and I sometimes want to see a happy and positive colour such as sunflower yellow... Still debating because it is quite a pricey cover, though.
I believe I will make it to free shipping, though idk if that's such a good thing because it also means I will spend a lot of money... 😂 (Then again, I do put money aside for the Hobonichi release.)
I'm assuming they will have the pouches in the upcoming years as well (the TS Techo cover appears to have been a staple for many years), so you don’t need to buy any of them this year anyway. I bought the TS pouch before the Stappo existed, but if I had to decide between the two, I would probably pick the Stappo because it is roomier and has more structure. You can fit anything B6 if you decide not to use the separator (velcro), but if you use it for A6, you can also fit pens inside and make it double up as a pen holder. There's space for sticker sheets and ephemera pieces as well, and you can clip paper clips to the front pockets ... and now I'll better stop 😂

I can say in my experience PU leather goes bad in about two decades 😂 I had one planner cover (not from Hobonichi) completely crumble on me and it was icky and disgusting. But, they probably make PU nowadays differently than 20 years ago, I would assume. But I think they are not made to last a lifetime 🤔
Nowadays blue and yellow together also reminds me of another European country... So the old association isn't so strong anymore, but this new one doesn't either raise good feelings, rather sadness, despair and anger - but maybe I could turn it into sisu, if you know that Finnish word, like resilience, persistence, perseverance.
I'm still debating with myself if I will order from the Hobonichi store or somewhere else, but then I probably wont get the small accessories... So I'm wondering, could you add my small order to yours and then ship it to me. I would then order only things you can fit in a normal envelope, so it wouldn't be a big hassle for you. You can say no. I'm just checking my options 🫣
I don't know what the shipping costs from the Hobonichi store are, but I don't think they will be so cheap that it makes sense to make a tiny order... I'm planning to save up and make a bigger order after the Spring release, because I want my Weeks to be the spring version. Maybe I can also wait and buy a pouch then... I have survived without one until now so I will also survive from now on 😅

I've never tried Hobonichi and I'm already set for this year so it goes to my wishlist for 2025. Would definitely try an A5 Cousin. I really like the Laurent Garigue A5 cover because it looks different! That one jumped out at me. The HON is interesting and I can see the need for a hardbound. Absolutely whatever I got would have to be English. I have a bazillion hammers, no need or desire for a bananna hammer. Not even my fave fruit, lol!

😂 Ah, the hammer - that was just a huge surprise like what the f is this. How do they come up with these things 🤣 Not my favorite fruit either, maybe I would enjoy more like an apple or plum hammer, or just the plain regular hammers we have in our tool boxes... But, at least I had fun and I got to see something surprising which lifted my energy 👍🏼
It's seems you already have an expensive shopping list for 2025 😅
Thanks for commenting, the reminder of the banana hammer lifted again my energy. Maybe I really need it 😂

I'm so glad I don't use bound books or I'd go bankrupt on their tweed covers!! The Tomitaro Makino and the lace covers would also be super dangerous.
Every year, I'm suuuper tempted - if the covers were looser I might even add my own ring mechanisms to the covers (Ashford sells a "refill pad" which is basically just a hard sheet with a ring mechanism attached, to slip into slip pockets in other binders or covers), but the ring mechanisms would push the inserts out so they'd hang out of the covers... such a bummer since I really want a tweed binder, but also a very, very good thing for my wallet 😂

Oh, that's an interesting idea. Do you use those Ashford rings? I had to google them and got interested. They seem to be plastic, I wonder how well they work or how durable they are...
      Thanks for commenting 🙏🏻
