That's really cool! The winch event was really good. I ended up camping (Bivvying) on top on Ingleborough the night before. It's an amazing area of Yorkshire to explore..
Hello, I'm hoping to visit for the next meet in August. I'll visit with a partner - would we both be able to be in the cave at the same time? I'm not asking for 2 people on the winch at once :)
Nice to see that the BPC is still doing this: I was a member of this great club over 30 years ago. I can remember taking the ladder down Bar Pot, with the intention of going up in the winch. But on getting to the main chamber the queue to go up was horrendous, so we retraced our steps and went back up the ladder. Going up was bloody knackering!
Cheers Mark. It was an awesome experience and I also met loads of lovely people from all over place at the winch meet. I would defiantly do it again! 😀
@@StoneAgeProductionsAdventure Carlsbad is a must see for anyone interested in caves. I live in New Mexico about 4 hours away from the caves, such a beautiful thing.
That whole setup seems a bit sketchy to me. God forbid the generator quits working while you're down there. I'm sure they probably have a backup generator, though. At least I sure hope they do 😂
The event is put on twice a year every year by two official caving clubs that know the cave very well. I'm sure they have a back generator but even if that fails there is other ways in and out of the cave via cave passages that the team of cavers could lead the general public out through. The whole event seemed very well organised.
Yes, anyone can rock up and go down but only during two weeks out of the year, one in March and one in August. All other times to gain access into cave you must be part of one of the local caving clubs.
@@CozyQueenAdventures Its done on a first come first served basis each day the winch is running. Only one person riding the winch at a time. They will usally be about 15 to 20 people down there.
@@ffontaine6438 That's fair enough. They do run it over a few days and its worth getting up there before sign up starts if you decide to take the risk.
Aye its normally "just a hole in the ground". The winch is not a permanent fixture. Two local caving groups set it up for two separate weeks each year.
I'm part of the club that runs the winch - camping there in a few weeks and very excited!

@@DavidGetling I bet! When I was down there, there was a young chap that abseiled down from a hole (maybe bar pot?) just below gapping gills opening.
I’ve been looking forward to this for days! What an amazing experience!
Hey thanks!
far out Aaron - 321 feet down into a hole. Now that's a vibe and a half. Great stuff. Mark

@@khleodavis I had to look up where Carlsbad Caverns is. Those New mexico caverns look really lovely.

I remember going there 30 years ago with just a big hole with no safety features, doing the abseiling in 2 sperate descents. Alum pot was another.
That is so cool
Great experience Mr Stone.. !! chance not to be missed. was it your own headtorch\light ??
Yeah it sure was a interesting experience and yes I was using my own headtorch
@@StoneAgeProductionsAdventure+ a bit scary !! Its a wonder they dont have some lighting rigged up ..

Wow, how interesting. So this is open to visitors? Anyone can go down?

@@StoneAgeProductionsAdventure can just one person at a time go down ?

How much does it cost.?
Do many people get turned away because of too many people showing up to go down?
Yeah they do, they turn around people and tell them to come back the next day. They run the winch on a first come first served basis.
@@StoneAgeProductionsAdventure £400 train ticket from Brighton! I can’t risk being turned away that would be such a disappointment!

Was there in 1982......... None of this was there......... Just a deep hole in the ground

Can you go back the chair when your finished?
You get one go in the chair on the way down and another go on the way back up after exploring the cave chamber.
Wtf is at 6:35
