Woody, Thank you very much for the information about how we can install a external monitor with PSR. may i add one more thing which is use full for the rest. Normally i use the inbuilt display to read text /Lyrics chords . ur new external display will help me to see the Lyrics/ chords bigger and easier . Thank u again. May be most of you little confused wat i am saying. Your question may be like this ... 1. From where we can get the Text files ? Ans: Go to google , if u wanna get the Lyrics / and Chords of Hotel California , type it and get it , once you get the chords , copy and make it as a Text file and save it to ur usb , put the usb in your PSR and push the Text/ Lyrics Button , Go to usb and copy and paste it to your system and save it . now you can see the chords and play.
Hey Woody you can actually change the voice selection function by going to the config2 page in the utility section and change the voice catagory button options from open and select to open only.
As for those PSR Button Switches that are located next to the display ? Yes a regular pain in the ass I have a few others synths with similar aggravating Button Issues but I have found a fix ? First make a cardboard or plastic sheet and make a template that allows the Chiclet Switches to protrude. Then either use a bright colored electrical type vinyl tape easy to find or I have used Nail Polish which my wife has many colors & finishes of find one that suites your needs something that can be seen well in a dark area, like the type of lighting that were subjected to on stage. And or buy any number of these new GOOSENECK led lamps and modify it to attach to the rear of your keyboard to shed some light on this matter. Keep up the great Videos and to all of us remember to practice and to floss daily..
Does PSR SX700 has a display output option? if so, can It be displayed out to an external touch screen monitor and be operated on that external monitor? if NOT how about PSR SX 900? if so, can it be operated on that external monitor? Thank you.
I'm not so sold on attaching a monitor to my keyboard for my use, but if I were teaching others to play the keyboard i'd use this, or perhaps use this for Karaoke, etc.. As it is,I use a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 w/MobileSheets Pro as a display base for my sheet music (I've got perhaps 10,000 pieces of music on this tablet and it has totally deleted the need for carrying boxes of sheet music. I also use an AirTurn Ped for Bluetooth page turning. This works beautifully. By the way, thanks for reminding me to check and upgrade my firmware. Sometimes when you're playing every day, you forget to do such things regularly.
Hey Woody, I love my PSR-S970 . I use it in combination with my Yamaha Motif MOXF6 at live performances and the two combined are like magic ! I play many genre (Big Band, New Age, Rock, Blues, Gospel, Movie Soundtracks ,R&B, Country, Classical, etc.) of music with the two and when playing with a regular band I use the PSR-S970's organ section because it's like having a dedicated organ with the MOXF6 . Love your video's because I play by ear only. Can't read a lick of music , but the PSR -S970 tells me what chords I'm playing which help when you have other musicians working with you. Please keep up the great video's so I can learn hands on all about my PSR. Thanks So Much, Pat Simmons
Dear Woody, Ive had a 970 for 15 months now and love it...totally self taught so far, so your videos are a great asset to me. I want to expand my ability to use many of the functions i.e. Style creator etc but simply cannot find any videos that actually show you what to do. I live in Northamptonshire and am a member of the PSR Tutorial Forum but alas there seems few 970 owners in England ? Any ideas please. (btw, Im using my wife's sign in so dont be fooled by the name you see, its hers !!) Thank you either way, David
hi ginger lady :D i think 970 owners are few and far between, suggest you join the tutorial forum if you have specific questions or shoot me an email. but i'm still learning myself and haven't spent much time with the instrument yet, so forum is your best bet! i intend to do more demos and tutorials on the PSR during the autumn so stay tuned.
Hello, could you point me in the right direction please? A friend had PSR-S970 and I'm trying to see if it can double up as a midi controller keyboard, to connect to PC and a daw. What is the best method to do this and what cable/s would be needed? Proprietary or not? I also wonder if the PSR-S970 internal instrument soundbanks can still be accessible within a daw vst style for recording/ live performance? I'm newish to recording and just use an Arturia keylab Essential, so I don't know much about yamaha arrangers. Great content, thank you. And apologies if a noob Q!
Hey hey happy Hair Cut , lessening the chance of more bad Hair daze ? As always thanks for the UTube videos What is the compatible resolution ? you found that worked best ?
During a performance it’s extremely hard switching from a style say( ballroom to cha). How to store 10 styles into registration 1,2 and 3. Then those common used voice in groups using remaining 4:5:6:7 for easy access? Thanks 🎹💰🔥👍👍👀👀
I'm playing my Genos via MIDI, and the Genos is the other side of the room, so I want an external monitor to see the screen. Then I can see what Registrations I am playing.
Gday Mate. Very well done and no more spooky shadows in the background. Thanks for that. Can you connect a monitor to most Keyboards via USB? Or would only be possible if keyboards only have that option and have a VGA interface on the Keyboard like yours? Eg FA08 or Yamaha MOXF?
hi, no only a small number of keys support video out, never available via usb as far as i know. i wish more keys had screen and/or keyboard and mouse support. keep up the ghost busting!
HI Thanks for the info on adding a monitor to a keyboard, BUT I need one because I am part sighted and have great difficulty in seeing the screen on my Tyros 4. Unfortunnately you skipped through the connections with very little detail as to what goes where, The video at that pointws dark, and there was no info on exactly how to make the connections, and does doing this just work automatically without furtrher input. Sorry to be bother but being an OAP (Very) I am not very puter savvy, so any further help would be much appreciated. I looked to be able to send you a PM rather than being on here, showing my ignorance, but that didn't seem possible. Perhaps you could PM me. Regards
Woody, love your videos… hey my S970 gas recently started producing drum sounds when I play some of the keys… even when R1, R2 and left voices are turned off. Any idea where I can get some help?
I think the Roland lets you hear the sounds as you go through them turning the dial and not have to hit enter key. Nice but Roland doesn't support with lots of third party sounds.
HI, you're correct about the roland, and every other synth, the sound is loaded as soon as you select. not so on arranger keyboards apparently. roland has a huge free sound library online, not third party, but all high quality (taken from their JV, XV etc).
Thanks for your video. I do have already yamaha1.05, but my q. is about monitor, Your 24 inch monitor is almost good . I think 20 inch will be better. I did try 25.7 and it is not good. Maybe you no which one is better ???
i have no idea which is better, you need to test it and see I'm afraid. i bought a used monitor and took my PSR with me to try it out before i bought.. good luck.
Hi Woody, I recently purchased the SX900. could you please tell me if I can connect a monitor and how to go about it. Thank you and thank you for all your wonderful videos!
i don't know because it's strapped to my stand. but don't worry about the exact model, most will work, get the cheapest you can find. you probably have an old monitor somewhere.
yamaha says that it fixes a minor issue with the buttons not registering. but i didn't notice any difference. but just do it anyway, it's easy, why not?
are these keyboards available in the US? Havent heard much about these around here. Very fun looking machine! Vision impaired so having external output would be a huge pluss for me. Would I have to import one and would it work? Yamaha has been known to have some models to be reajen specific so that's why I ask. Thanks and great demonstrations!
Hello dear Woody. Your monitor seems great. Could you tell us what is the exact model of the monitor? I would try to buy a similar one. Is that is a bit complicated for mee took the keyboard with me to try a monitor. Thanks :) (sorry bad english, greetings from Portugal)
hi, it's a very old BENQ, I don't think you will be able to find same monitor. Ask your friends, probably somebody has an old monitor you can borrow and try out! you don't need anything fancy or expensive!
Do you still have your PSR-S970? Did you try to connect an HDMI monitor to the RGB output? I don’t want to “try three or four monitors” like you did. Plus, I also need a lightweight display, like current TV displays available from big box stores (Best Buy). They also have more “scaling” options to solve the distorted wide screen that you got. BUT the current displays available have only HDMI input. So, any tips on a VGA to HDMI adapter would be helpful. Adapters seem to include a USB dongle for power. Can I just plug that into the USB TO DEVICE port of the PSR? Thanks for any thoughts.
don't have it, I had to find a display with VGA input, plenty of them for sale, or in rubbish tips, or you probably know someone that has one lying around, good luck & enjoy
Woody Piano Shack... Why did you sell it? You seemed like you so enjoyed it in the demos, and it was one of the “keepers” in one video. Anyway, you said you “had” to use a VGA monitor. Did you try HDMI with no success, or just happened to go for the VGA initially? Cheers!
Hello Woody, What a large beautiful screen! Do you think it would be possible to display sheet music that would scroll along with your playing? How great it would be ! All those damn paper sheets to the dustbin!
is this psr worth buying for one man band performance? what are sounds and styles like ? also is there any glitch while changing sounds during performance?
depends what kind of solo band performances you do. just piano & vocals, or you need the backings? if you need the backing accompaniment then get the psr.
If you're looking for perfection, I would recommend Tyros 4 or 5. The sound generation module is said to be the same:I doubt it and I would like to know where we can get this mostly important piece of information;. In fact Tyros has Super Articulation 2 Sounds, PSR 970 doesn't have. And the buttons are much better. If you can afford to spend 2 000 € , a second hand Tyros 4 is better value than a brand new 970... :-) Guy ♫♫♫
Woody Piano Shack hi woody your videos are always informative & value addition for me. As s970 having VGA slot it might be connected to projector also...
Michael Langley You get used to this. It's really not an issue while you're playing gigs. Possibly need a lamp attached if you're playing in a totally dark room.

Nice demo....very informative ....would like to see a PT2 more on how to attach monitor to stand close up pics on mounts, how to, etc,....Thanx
i'll try and include that next time, but basically it's just two velcro bands tightened around the column.
Sir,what about s 950,it also has a video out option
i have no opinion of 950 sorry.
I'm using eksternal LCD to my s950 ...good

in gem 3 old synth workstation there was a navigation button that u could click it too.. that was awesome .. they stupidly dont do it no more
Actually how is the keyboard
Very helpful but how can I use my iPad or any tab as my external display for the keyboard
very good vid woody never ever thought of connecting a screen?
How do I get all the music finder songs to my tyros5? The manual doesn’t make it clear. If you can help.Thanks.

@@WoodyPianoShack thank you, I'll try to find out about it.
Sir, if you don't mind I want you to make a video. how to create style on yamaha psr s970
hi, yes I may tackle that topic, gotta learn how to do it myself first (and I know it's quite complicated)

thanks for the info and looking forward to learning more about the korg m1 in future vidios!
Great idea with this monitor - much easier to work with the instrument. Film very good. Regards :)
i agree, might be difficult to mount with other keyboard stands. all the best.

i just picked it up a used monitor from a russian guy. it's a benq, any monitor will probably do, you can find them really cheap.

nope
