What a beautiful swimsuit Amelia and your demonstration is very clear and reassuring.I couldn’t ever see myself making a swimsuit but having watched your video l may give it a go. Thank you.🌹🌹🌹
Haya. Really enjoyed your sew along, clear & concise, at the same time calming & pleasing. I really like how you used the contrast fabric for the ruffle, the low back is super fun. I can see you will have lots of fun at the beach with your family wearing your pretty bathing suit. Thanku 'sew' much for sharing. x
Thank you so much for watching. I am glad you enjoyed the video! The ruffle is so much fun and I am looking forward to wearing this lots this summer. ❤
You made it look so easy! It's a fantastic bathing suit! Not only do I find things that aren't "perfect" on my projects but I also feel a deep need to tell everyone about them. "Thanks yeah this is my newest make. But as you can see if you look at my underarm closely, the sleeve seam is one millimetre out of alignment with the side seam." 🙄😂
That made me smile! We always think about the minute details as sewists, don't we. Thank you so much for watching and I am glad you enjoyed the sewalong.😊
Beautiful video! Wish I had watched this before I made mine 😂 doing a straight stitch for basting is a great idea! Mine has so many zig zags! The main fabric and the contrast ruffle look so great together!!
An excellent 'sew with me' :) I really like your vlog style. So clear and the camera shots very easy to see. I wouldn't hesitate to have a go at making this swimsuit🙂 Debbie x
Amelia, your swimsuit turned out so cute! Thanks for the very helpful video. I’m really excited to try this pattern, even more so now that I’ve seen your video. 😎 Happy swimming with your kiddos! Lynn
Wonderful video as always, and such a lovely swimsuit! So glad you went with the one ruffle, it makes such a statement! We are in Winter in Australia, so I am very jealous of your warm weather!
Such an enjoyable sew along, thanks Amelia, it was lovely to see how this comes together and the finished swimsuit is gorgeous 😍. I love how it has a lot of options and also comes with a shelf bra and cups. I might have to give this a go, as I could do with a swimsuit for our local pool. I always wear bikinis on holiday...purely for tanning reasons lol xx
Thank you Karen! Yes - this one will see a lot of our local pool over the summer, so it seemed like the perfect option! I would be really keen to try the bikini too at some point though as it is such a great fitting swimsuit! Thank you so much for watching. ❤
Such a beautiful choice of fabrics and I love the view you made. It was great to hear about the different tweaks you made or would make in the future. I’ve just booked a beach holiday for September so I might make my own Coralie sooner than I had thought! 💕
The swimsuit looks fabuous Amelia, and your step-by-step process is really clear and helpful. This is definitely on my list to try, though it may be a month or so away. I want to try the Cottesloe swimsuit first as I already have that pattern.
Thank you for the lovely video. I have a question about the clear elastic … well a couple ?’s. First did you stretch and relax the elastic prior to use? And did you sew it at a 1:1 ratio in all applications or stretch it in some areas? I haven’t tried it in many years but I remember being unhappy with my results. Thank-you.
Hi Mary, thanks for watching! I have read different things about clear elastic. For the armholes of the swimsuit, I sewed it without any stretch, (1:1 ratio) but they do gape a little. For the leg holes, I didn;t stretch the elastic too much, just held it taut, under a little tension, which has given a good fit. I did the same for the neckline and straps, though I could use more stretch over the straps though, so may use a woven swim elastic on that part next time. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for a clear simple sew along. I will give the pattern a go. Quick question, did you use the lining for bra support please? Many thanks ❤️
Hi Jo! I did add the shelf bra, using swimsuit lining, which gives a little support, but didn't add cups as I didn't feel they were necessary for me. This has given a good amount of support for me, but I don't need a huge amount! 🤣
Hi, beautiful tutorial. I am looking for a tankini pattern. I am two different sizes top and bottom. I also needa good reinforced support shelf under the bust. All the tankinis i buy dont have deep enough shelves for me. I find they sit on my bust not under. Not a good look. 😅😅😂. Do you know anywhere who sells tankini patterns? Thank you
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it. I am not very familiar with tankini patterns, or companies that just do swimwear patterns. I tend to just look at pattern companies with a block that I know suits me and look to see if they have any patterns I like. Hope that helps!
I feel well covered in it, although I would probably add another inch of length to the swimsuit if I wanted to add cups for a fuller bust. Thanks fir watching!
Hi Amelia the swimsuit looks great I am so tempted to make one but I worry about how much to stretch the elastic I always have a problem when buying swimwear as the bottom area always gapes and it’s not a good look when climbing those steps out of the pool.🫣🤭
Thank you for watching Susan! The clear elastic was quite easy to work with. I tested the fit before adding the elastic and the leg openings were a good fit. So I only needed to stretch it a little bit to make sure there was no gaping. ❤
Love the swimsuit! 👍
Lovely swimsuit. I haven’t bought it yet but I’m going to. Thanks
Thank you Jen. I am glad you enjoyed the video. 😊
You made it look easy!
Thank you Donna. I think Tilly patterns are so brilliant, and the instructions make it really straightforward. ❤️
You look glowing! Fab sew along x
Thank you! There is something about sewing a swimsuit that I find so satisfying! 😊 Thank you so much for watching.

Thank you Eileen, I am glad you enjoyed the video! Once I got my head around a few of the techniques, it has been so fun to so my own swimwear.

this looks amazing!
Thank you so much!
Beautifully made as always. That fabric is just gorgeous kind of 1950ish would also look lovely with a pink ruffle :)
Thank you Elaine! It does feel quite 1950's-ish. 😊 I did consider a pink ruffle too, but went with navy in the end.
What a great tutorial, it looks fabulous, another success. Thank you for taking the time to share.
Thank you so much Debra. I am glad you enjoyed the tutorial!

Love the swimsuit, it looks great on you. Do you think it is suitable for a fuller bust? It’s not easy to get underwired swimwear patterns!
I feel well covered in it, although I would probably add another inch of length to the swimsuit if I wanted to add cups for a fuller bust. Thanks fir watching!
Are you pulling the elastic as you sew ?
I pull it gently on the first pass, then not at all on the second pass.
Hi Amelia the swimsuit looks great I am so tempted to make one but I worry about how much to stretch the elastic I always have a problem when buying swimwear as the bottom area always gapes and it’s not a good look when climbing those steps out of the pool.🫣🤭
