I think it was MLB Network Quick Pitch I was watching and the commentators were saying this was "the worst game of the year," then the screen switched to the bottom of that 14th inning. Then Kyle Seager hits that slam and one of the guys screams "this is the game of the year." I was laughing so hard and became a huge Kyle Seager fan. Then found out his little brother was in my Dodgers farm system. Safe to say I've been a Seager bros fan for a while.
Holy shit. I still remember being 9 years old, waking up to watch quick pitch in the morning, and when they reached this game hearing the mlb network host say “aaand let’s head to the 14th”. I always remembered this cuz of how unusual it was. It’s such a faded memory now but it’s crazy that this is that same game.
Man as a baseball fan (also a padre fan) I love your content. The amount of detail and effort you put into videos is awesome. Keep up the great work and go pads!
Fantastic. After years of MLB UA-camrs making hundreds of videos about random games that were fun to see talked about someone finally made a video about this game. Me and my Mariners fan friends STILL talk about this game. Anytime I make a new long term friend who is a Mariners fan I bring up this game and each one is able to tell me where they were and what they were doing for the entire game. I’ll never forget everything I was doing. It’s about time someone made a video about this game; you’re the real MVP.
Amazing both are in the playoff race this year. Did you know that the Mariners have the longest playoff drought. Not only that, of all five major sports leagues, not counting all the new teams to MLS, only two teams have never played in the Finals. The Mariners and the Clippers in the NBA. The Mariners are the only team to not make the World Series after the Expos/Nationals made it last year.
Hey I'd love to see a video of the 07 Phillies run. It gets over looked alot due to the Rockies run. The Phillies were 7 behind the Mets with 17 games left and went 14-3 including a 4 game sweep vs the Mets. Just think if they went 13-5 or lost 1 of those 4 vs the Mets we could of had 2 game 163 in 07.
Love the videos! The only thing is, I have always been told to avoid "would" becasue it makes everything past tense. Like "would run havoc" and replace it with the active tense like "ran havoc" or "would ground into a double play" and replace it with "grounded into a double play." Im a sports reporter by trade so this stands out to me even though no one else probably even notices, Feel free to ignore me! Keep up the great work!
Hahaha bro I was thinking the same shit. Have to imagine a five run lead heading into the final 3 outs. Have to imagine it was set between 7.5-9.5 runs total before the game
Fun fact: Casper Wells of the White Sox later ended up on the Phillies that same year and played in the longest game in Phillies history (18 IP) He also had one of the worst games in MLB history (Combined -.746 WPA) and would pick up the loss in that very same game.
"Kendrys Morales would ground into a double play." That's literally the only thing I remember about his tenure as a Mariner. Every time there was a rally underway, you could count on that guy rolling over to the second baseman. EVERY! TIME!
I was at this game with one of my friends. This is the game that made him fall in love with Iwakuma and he got a Kuma Jersey. He would always text me "Kuuuuummaaaaa" after a great start. Unfortunately we left this game at 9 bc we thought it was boring
As a Mariners fan it pains me to say that do any of our games truly matter? Until we make the playoffs which hopefully it seems like we can do this year, nothing matters.
The Morales catch may not appear in sports comps, but the Seager grand slam certainly does. Every time I see it, all I can think is “poor kid” And I love how the video cuts just before the dude knocks the kid over 😂
"Chicago vs Seattle, or, how I learned to love edging resulting in a double play"
"Mets fans aren't fazed by this"
Neither are Mariner's fans. We watched the Degrom-style offensive futility for years with King Felix.
Yeah we did. One of if not the best pitcher of his generation and he’s probably not gonna make the hall. What a shame.
Yep he got degrommed in his hay day for sure
I’m anything degrom gets hernandezed

"Pulling a deGrom" lol more like pulling a Hernandez, Felix was the king in more ways than one, as he was the king of no run support.
Verlander also had very little run support
@@Karmy. Verlander played for the stacked Tigers and the trash can Astros and you say he had little run support?
@@felixmendelssohn991 yeah
source: being a Tigers fan
@Fugp Basis he’s talking abt Felix Hernandez, not Jose Fernandez
This video gave me chill bumps when Kyle Seeger hit that grand slam in the bottom of the 14th, What a clutch HR lol
Hey....I WAS THERE. My family were leaving as Seagar hit it😅. We still left after because we lived in Spokane and wanted to get home.
I loved the ominous “how can they mess this up” 😂
Time stamp?
@@phillyphan2938 pretty much every inning 😂
As a white sox fan I will never forget that seager grand slam
SportStorm: Why is the music getting louder?
Seager: *grand slam*
SportStorm: You gotta be kidding me.
9 double plays, that sounds like me playing showdowns in mlb the show
I will never forget Axelrod because of that name and also because he was like one of the players you got when you started Tap Sports Baseball
Iwakuma was under the radar guy.
Hope Kikuchi will extend his contract from Mariners
Wish Iwakuma was there to help us 2018 we really needed him 😥
The 2013 season was perhaps the season that got me into baseball and cemented me as a Mets fan at 11 years of age.
you know what’s better then the mets literally every single team in the majors
A lot of Mets legends in this video, Endy Chavez, Addison Reed, Alejandro De Aza, Jason Bay, Kelly Shoppach
Chavez goated
Man as a baseball fan (also a padre fan) I love your content. The amount of detail and effort you put into videos is awesome. Keep up the great work and go pads!
This man hits the "Ch" in Chicago and Chavez like it's a hanging curveball
Every game has a story. Well done.👍

Pulling a DeGrom? Look at 2013 Felix Hernandez and see what pain looks like.
Seeing White Sox VS Mariners doesn’t make me think Adam Dunn VS Jason Bay but… here we are
That grand slam was also the only extra-innings grand slam in a losing effort in MLB history.
If you look up seagers home run, there is a clip that shows the dad trucking his kid trying to get the ball

Define “new”
nah, iwakuma pulled a felix. degrom has been pulling felix’s as well. gotta show respect to the og’s
You should do an in-depth video about the 2008 Phillies people don’t talk about them as much as they should

Sportstorm:it’s a routine fly ball
Also Sportstorm:that was a great play

Thanks for the tip!
So many former/future Mets in this game...
great video! This game really feels like its from a different era of baseball
Wait
Jason Bay was on the MARINERS?!?
the mariner's have some of the strangest MLB records. I love them.
I feel like this happens everytime I play The Show. 9 Double plays. Well. The only exception is when my team doesnt bat in the 9th.
This is what people who don’t watch baseball think it’s like
Imagine betting the under in this game and losing because 10 runs are scored in the 14th...
Hahaha bro I was thinking the same shit. Have to imagine a five run lead heading into the final 3 outs. Have to imagine it was set between 7.5-9.5 runs total before the game

Lol. That reminds me of a young Paul Konerko. So slow, he should be an honorary Molina brother
Lmao Farquhar and Noesi. So many Sox legends in this game
Ah foolish did a video on the yanks twins classic.
Id have to say, this is solid pitching
Remember this game so clearly listening to Seager hit the grand slam on the way home from school in 2nd grade
IWAKUMA BEAR
and yet... somehow... the most fascinating stat to me is the fact that addison reed had both a blown save AND a win in the same game.
Bro imagine if you bet the under
This is why I support the runner in 2nd in extras rule
Also this game has to be some sort of record for most runners LOB
I went to a 15 or 16 inning game against the giants at safeco, but it started at 7:10 so we were up till like 2 lol
Did this game end with Reed throwing an immaculate inning?
probably not
maybe a foul ball or something
I was at this game with one of my friends. This is the game that made him fall in love with Iwakuma and he got a Kuma Jersey. He would always text me "Kuuuuummaaaaa" after a great start. Unfortunately we left this game at 9 bc we thought it was boring
"wait 5-0 in the 14th inning, why does that sound familiar-
oh
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Damn 2013 extra innings? That’s a ton
waiting for a future video titled: This 2021 slugfest between the Twins and Tigers didn't matter, but it was awesome
I went to this game as a class field trip when I was 11. We left in the 13th i think
Awww.... Carter Capps
You seen the losing track of pitch counts video from Dorktown?
I think I remember this game
You at 7:22: “wait a minute”
UA-cam: *plays ad*
Me: “this guys incredible”
Edit:
Me at 9:35: “say sike rn”
Man 😂
You said Chicago like chick-ah-go
And Konerko like Kon-er-ko
I don’t really care its just funny 😂
As a Mariners fan it pains me to say that do any of our games truly matter? Until we make the playoffs which hopefully it seems like we can do this year, nothing matters.
May 2013: "Moving from Seattle to LA but I'm gonna watch the M's every day so I don't get homesick!"
June 2013: "Homesickness cured forever!"
I was at this game rooting for the White Sox and stayed the entire 16 innings.
sorry but the ORGINAL DeGrom was pulling a Felix, thank you very much.
I was on a ton of acid at this game.
Is an out on appeal included as a double play?
good question
Imagine the heartbreak if you bet the under on this game
Imagine having the under
Lol Jason Bay.

And I love how the video cuts just before the dude knocks the kid over 😂
I was there
anyone else see that guy knock over the kid for the homerun ball at 9:38?
Why he sound like Mat Patt
Alejendro De Aza
See? Isn't it nice not to have that ghost runner at 2nd to start every extra inning?
Little unrelated baseball meme for you

Hating the 2016 Royals
I hate the new extra inning rule

God I hated watching this White Sox lineup
No game that includes the Mariners matter, and that's coming from a Mariners fan.
you probably didnt watch last nights game then
