What exactly would that accomplish? At the end of the day its buyer beware. If you have doubts of authenticity then dont do the deal.
Vendors have been advocating for that for years. Theft is a huge issue at these events and some people are extremely good at coordinating theft from these booths. The venue never cares.

If we’re being honest, your boy shouldn’t have left the table to run it through check-check. Run it through in front of the seller before you pay. If seller is legit, he’ll be confident of the results.
It’s a lesson learned for all.

Crazy thing was I caught the same dude at this event at lacedupsneakershow in Houston the week after. Got him kicked out at that event as well for selling the same fakes. He even wore a mask to try and hide his face 😂

Putting myself in the seller’s shoes, once somebody walk away I’m not dealing with them anymore. Scammers swap out fakes for real ones all the time.
All sales are final. It sucks, but it’s apart of the game. I remember selling an Xbox one military edition, dude hit me up 2 days later stating he can’t play MW, but plays other games. Asked for his money back. I played tech support for him and told him to take back his MW to GameStop. Dude kept bothering, so I blocked his ass. A week later he was on the buy and selling group, known as a part swapper scammer. Two people ended up taking him to civil court for him stealing parts out of their PS4s and Xbox. This dude may be a scammer, but I also don’t trust people taking an item, leaving and coming back for refunds. Like bruh, doesn’t take long to swap shit.

Plus they partner with Sneakercon events so obviously SC is going to trust them over any seller. Idk if you're taking this guy's side in this or not, but there are absolutely ways to check if something is legit. As far as reps getting pretty close to retail, it's inevitable some will get through. But I'll take 97% accuracy over trusting someone who isn't trained. This guy in the video is a loser.

maybe put custom plastic zip ties on a pair of shoes that have been recently sold and have a plastic tab on the zip tie that the seller can sign and number. then tell people not to remove the tag until the show is over. if you remove the tag during the show, there are no returns.

The deal is done when the buyer walks away from the table. The buyer checks the item before they purchase, or forfeits the opportunity. Even if he is a scammer, the seller is unfortunately right: there is no way to prove it's the same pair of shoes.

This is fraud. He knowingly sold fake shoes as real and refuses to return the money. That is fraud.
@@fancynfreeme Yes, that is likely true. Again, the buyer forfeited their chance to inspect the item, and instead chose to pay the seller and walk away from the table. At that point the deal is done and neither party has any further obligation. There is no way to prove that it's the same pair of shoes the buyer is attempting to return.
If you require the seller to refund, the all sellers can be required to unwind deals after the fact, and it will open the gates for 100x more fraud. It's far better to put the burden on the buyer to inspect the item before closing the deal. This is standard in every market unless otherwise agreed on beforehand, and shouldn't be different for shoes. "Buyer Beware" can be an expensive lesson, hopefully one the buyer won't have to repeat.

Theoretically the buyer could've walked away, switched his shoes with a pair of fakes, then brought them back to get a refund and give the seller the fakes while he keeps the real ones. Once you walk away from the table there's no proving those are the same shoes
In this case its likely the seller was a scammer, but he was right, once you walk away from the table the deal is done
