Hell yeah!!! My all time favorite metal band. Can’t wait to watch! Seeing them October 20th at The Roxy, and spending time in Ventura on the 10th for Cirith Ungol day 😁
Great interview, Pete! I'm 51 and have been a fan for a little over 30 years. I've always been a fan of "unique" vocal styles in metal. I think Tim's vocals rule.
Just getting around to watching this now, but was so excited to see this interview. Discovered these guys through SOT and have become one of my favorite American metal bands. Maybe the best album covers of all time, can't beat a Michael Whelan painting. I initially dismissed the 2020 album when I got into their catalog, just assuming it wouldn't match the original material. Lo and behold it matches, and dare I say exceeds in some ways, their 80s stuff. So I am beyond stoked for Dark Parade!
first heard Cirith Ungol because of Forever Black. What an amazing story of coming back after 25 years! I went back and listened to all their old stuff. Love them. So groundbreaking. And the new album is also very good. No shock! Very cool to hear Mr. Baker name drop Smoulder too. I'm a huge fan of theirs as well.
Would have been really nice if Cirith Ungol had managed to do something with Manilla Road. A studio project, a tour, etc. The late great Mark Shelton expressed admiration for Tim and company over the years. Talk about two bands that were compatible on multiple levels....certainly both bands were known for their unique vocalists, both emerged from the '70s and attained rabid cult followings, and both were pioneers of epic metal in their own ways. It was encouraging to witness both Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol achieve some long-overdue wider recognition years after these legendary acts started out. Better late than never!
And they still sound the same too… phenomenal!!!!, wish Witches Game was released on cd though, I know it’s only 2 songs but I’m a purist regarding these guys
Jim Barraza is the one who told me about this new album; really cool guy. I'd seen him a couple of times around Ventura, CA maybe 4-5 months ago and seemed really excited about the album as well as touring after Covid-19. The guitar aspect of the album was my favorite part, so I hope Jim gets the recognition he deserves. Specially since I just found out he was let go.
Great interview Pete and it's a fantastic album! Tim really opened up in the interview and to be fair he was talking about how you gotta see bands while you can and they won't be around for ever. I get the sense that these guys are doing it a. For the love of the craft and b. They want to give the fans a top notch experience be it a recording or a show. Honestly I hadn't heard Cirith Ungol until I saw someone mention the album in the comments on one of the best albums of 23 shows. It sounded interesting so I thought I'll listen to the first track. And I was blown away, their music is really captivating, I had to drop what I was doing and sit down and listen to the whole record! And well, that doesn't happen every day. Tim clearly enjoys doing it and I can understand if they don't want to slog it out on big tours. But I hope they continue and make more music and play the odd show. But whatever they do, they can be proud of Dark Parade, it's a a belter!
In 1981, 1984-Tim had some of THE MOST extreme vocals in heavy metal.
Tour! Please
I have remained a Cirith Ungol freak since I was 12 in 1984. Tim's voice truly is unique and wickedly awesome! I am so glad they going strong.

Now that Manilla Road is RIP, Cirith are the MVP of US heavy metal.
Great interview Pete.
Fantastic guy.
Love this band 💯🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great interview & great seeing another legend on SOT. 🤘🤘
What an interview! What a band !..! !..!
Tim’s vocals are chaotically awesome
How he maintained his pipes I have no idea, most certainly amongst the most identifiable vocalists of all time

Loved them since the 80's.
Delighted to see this. The content lately has been off the charts Mr Pardo.
Nice video 😄👍
I saw you live in 81 came down from Eureka with my friend Jim Rizzo. He new some of the band we had some fun after the show.😎
thank you for sharing this interview.
Doing some catch-up on SoT vids. Really enjoyed this. I got the new album this week and it's really good. Love the doomy parts.
Absolutely love this band to death!!
One of the great underrated metal bands.
Cirith Ungol were ahead of the times by having a few years between albums back in the 1980s. Now days everyone has a few years between albums.
I just ordered the LP The Dark Parade. The 2 released Songs are so great 🤟

They did the greatest version of FIRE ever
This was obviously made before the announcement they were retiring from live performance after the upcoming tour.
Yes, it was...and Tim never leaked that news to me at all.

I always thought that Tim's Vocals are a combination of Geddy Lee , and Brian Johnson. They are especially effective on Finger of Scorn
Those final words didn't hold very long sadly - hopefully I get to catch them next year
The King of the Dead album has the best lyrics ever written. Atom Smasher has to be the most unique song musically
The Beast shall rule the hearts of man, until mankind falls to ape again. It's hard for a band to out do that perspective
Sunglasses to a zoom interview. Lol. Someone thinks they are cool.
I am EVILLLLLLLL
Well, he is.
