I truly don’t understand the repeated comparison between these two cars… one is a low slung sports car, not to mention considerably more expensive… one is an SUV, also their entry level vehicle. There is no comparison…
@@bneyarb5037 well believe it or not according to my sources at Porsche, close to 80% of Macan preorders where from Taycan owners. So you may not consider these two cars, but many do.
@ replacement for Taycan for those who want something new. It was the same with the original Audi E-Tron, a huge percent of Q4 buyers traded in their E-Tron. In my experience buyers shooing in the 100k + price range don’t buy cars from a logical perspective, but based on feelings and what they want. Often buyers want the new shiny thing.
@@bneyarb5037 , there are people who just want a 4-seat electric Porsche, and only the Taycan was available so far. Macan is more practical as a family car.
Many people don't like lower seating position and prefer sitting higher in an SUV, and easier getting in and out as well. And that consideration is more prevalent in older generation, like me. And I understand Taycan is even more difficult getting in an out. That is why I ordered the new Macan base model. As far as driving dynamics are concerned, going by many reviews, Taycan may have marginally better, but not hugely. Price difference is another big difference. After all, Porsche did claim Macan electric to be "the sportiest SUV in its segment" and they don't make false claims, as the reviewers found out. It's good we all have different choices and preferences.
Taycan is difficult getting in and out and I'm not even 40 and in good shape. It was literally the only thing that kind of bothered me. But the Macan is so much higher up, the trunk is unreachable for our dog... i would need to lift her in there. And she hates that! Very quiet and comfortable too on air suspension. Highly enjoyable. Wouldn't mind having either. My wife wants something bigger (i meant car wise...)
Cool, exactly what I asked myself My wife says Macan because boot volume (2 small kids, dog, tons of paraphernalia) I say Taycan because exotic look and sufficient practicality imho 😂 What kind of bothers me with the macan is the lack of 22kw loader

I completely agree with you, and I just test-drove the Macan EV last week. I'm keeping my Taycan 4S. Perhaps if the New Taycan goes to a solid state battery in five years, I will reconsider.
I agree completely with Kris. I drove a Macan last week followed by a Taycan; the Macan was good, but the Taycan was the best EV I've ever driven, with steering and handing close to my Boxster. Sorry harmony, but I'm 73 and aren't prepared to compromise by buying an SUV, I don't like them, and yes it's probably an age thing. When I first drove, in the 1960s, everyone wanted a two seater sports cars, then in the 70s started the fashion for hot hatch backs, now it's SUV, because somehow people think they need to take their house with them on every a journey. Each to their own.
Both cost awful lot of money, both will have high depreciation. But... You won´t get a penny with you to the grave, so to speak. If it´s possible to buy a car that makes you happy, you should go for it. Life´s too short to be miserable. Regarding differences, it´s just the matter of taste and use case. No point in even arguing about it.
I drove the Macan 4 last weekend. The chassis brakes dynamics are very good. It feels like a Porsche. It’s an easy move from a fossil which I suppose is the point. It’s not quick compared with any Tesla with 2 or more motors so the 4S is probably the choice. The fit finish and premium-ness isn’t with a Taycan. The software is nowhere near Tesla. But the 100kwh battery gives it great range, it’s economical and the best non-Tesla suv IMO. But the Taycan is further up the ladder and I agree with you it’s not really close. And yes. Porsche owners do consider both alongside each other. So a valid comparison - thank you.
I subscribed already but wish to push you over the top ;) - yes please make a road trip preferably with a Macan if you can just because its hot right now and more for the masses, plus many other channels did road trips with the Taycan already. If I would chose which one, I would take the Taycan but its also about the economics, regarding depreciation According to EV Depreciation, the Porsche Taycan is estimated to retain approximately 65% of its value after three years. This places it in a relatively stronger position than other luxury electric vehicles. I don´t expect that the Macan will depreciate worse but better (in retaining a higher resale value after 3 years). For yourself mate - take the car where your heart is, its clearly that you love the new Taycan even better - if you can make it work get the new Taycan if you can get content out of the better. I am not a YT content creator but an avid watcher - and it's all about different cars and the story line to keep it interesting.
