- When is the best time to visit Costa Rica? Which is better dry season or rainy season? We compare what it is like here is both rainy and dry seasons. Most people think they would prefer the dry season, but after watching this video you may change your mind.
Features the poem "Rio Uvita"
Rio Uvta, Costa Rican dream,
Where emerald waters brightly gleam.
Through rainforest lush and secrets kept,
Your ribbon flows, forever swept.
Howler monkeys serenade your banks,
As scarlet macaws take flight in ranks.
Iguanas bask on sun-warmed stone,
While hidden wonders yet unknown
In crystal depths may come to light,
With darting fish and colors bright.
Your current whispers tales untold,
Of ancient lands and mysteries bold.
From mountain peaks to ocean's embrace,
You carve a path, a sacred space.
Rio Uvita, lifeblood of the land,
May your beauty evade the hand of man
From distant mountains, cool you flow,
A gift of life that makes things grow.
Rio Uvita, heart of Uvita's soul,
May your beauty forever make us whole..
The dry season comes, but soon departs
When the rain returns and lightens hearts.
The Jungle trees, survived the worst
And now drink deeply to quench their thirst
And the river soon, will swell it’s banks
From the sweet sweet rain, we give it thanks
The cycle here as old as time
Repeats itself, it’slife sublime
Rio Uvita, my old friend
With waterfalls and riverbends
You give us comfort from the tropics heat
With swimming holes to cool our feet
Your beauty is quite unique
Your Watters babble, I hear you speak
Since the dawn of time, you’ve been here flowing
Forever seeing, forever knowing
You’ve seen children visit, then grow old
A river’s life, with tales untold
To bring such joy, a simple pleasure
Rio Uvita we always treasure

My name is Ed and I sold my house, quit my job as a Rich Media Editor with Gracenote back in the USA and moved to Uvita Costa Rica in April of 2021, in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic. Moving to a new country by yourself can be an intimidating endeavor, but with the right mindset and a little luck, life has been very good for me here. I love the weather here, the nature is absolutely amazing, the beaches and the mountains are fantastic, I even have monkeys in my back yard.

Very apt music choice, Debussy, under the poetry. Nice work, Ed.
Thanks Dennis, this is a pretty inspiring place🙂👍
Great video!!
Thanks Josh🙂👍
Love how you did this episode, mae! You are so right. We moved here for the beautiful warm weather and the sun, but we both now prefer the Rainy Season! We also question where all this construction will lead, so sad to see nature being slowly eaten up by construction.
Yes, bring on the rain🌧️🌧️⛈️🌦️
Your poem set to Claire de Lune was absolutely beautiful and beautifully executed. AND the way you wrote it to fit the music so well...
Ahhh! Debussy
Another great video. My wife and I visited Costa Rica last year to scope the possibility of moving there soon. We were in the Grecia region, La Fortuna and the Arenal lake areas. We plan to visit again this June/July the Tamarindo region in Guanacaste. I have never paid too much attention to southern CR since private schools are not readily available for our 8 and 6 years olds. Guanacaste is very much like here in Texas and growing food is a challenge. Complete opposite of the southern regions of CR. TBH, if I had it my way, southern Puntarenas would be my #1 location. I'm a tico and can fit anywhere out there, but my American wife and kids are so used to Costco-like shopping and western style amenities, that I would have a tough sell convincing them into giving places like Uvita a try.
Maybe if you keep on visiting they will change their minds
Photo comparisons are great, Ed! And you can never go wrong with Claire de Lune behind your poetry.
We could even do a more extreme comparison when the river gets super high.
Love rainy season. Get things done in the morning. Way fewer tourists, prices low, colors are popping.
My feelings exactly 🌧️🙂👍🌦️
Saludos y bendiciones.
Igualmente mi amigo🙂👍
what is the mosquito situation like there?
It depends greatly on the area. If you are in the deep shade of the jungle it can be bad, but here in Uvita it is not usually too bad. Near sunset they come out a little, but they are not fans of the hot sun any more than we are. That being said , always bring some bug repellent with you just in case. It is expensive here.
