This video is amazing. Many folks in UA-cam push to sell synthetic salt for aquariums. In reality you have proved that Natural seawater is the best (depending in location). I’m here in Florida and about 2 hours from Key west. The local pet store sells water they get from the reefs, I’ve never had a problem with nitrites or nuisance algae. I love NSW and highly recommend it. Thank you for the video!

Beautiful! Beautiful beach and waters. Minnesota / Latvia here. Have aunts uncles cousins in Port Douglas Queensland and also in Sydney. Was in Port Douglas for a month years ago hope to go back some day. Have a 150 gallon salt 11 years now all used was idle last 4 years and just kick started it 8 months ago and have a whole new crew. I have a Lawnmower Blenny too and wow have some algae and he is clearing it out. Adding a German 5 gallon CPF 250 with a UV 13 watt bulb was a donation to me works great on Diamondback Terrapin salt pond. Switching it to now the 150. Just found your vids per canisters great stuff. Thank you. My profile pic is of one of my blue Diamondback Terrapins on of my gals.

The seawater there looks beautiful! Interesting that the parameters there are very similar to the water we collect on the Gold Coast, except our magnesium is usually closer to 1370. Great video😊Cam

It would be interesting to have people test the natural seawater in their region. I enjoy seeing the natural parameters. It was cool to see the parameters on the coast were nearly identical to the water collected out further in the ocean.

I enjoyed the video & tests and got some interesting insights from my son.
    1. Apparently there are individuals who sell “reference sea water.” Labs buy it as a “standard.” So you were floating around in thousands of dollars of “reference standard.” 😄
    2. Apparently the ocean is quite homogeneous throughout the world, and there are predictable equations to calculate the time for the ocean to correct for a change. Thus your water should be very stable and put our tanks to shame.
Thanks for the video and motivating my son to show me a scientific world I never knew existed. It is nice to see that after 3 1/2 years of a chemistry and earth & environmental science major science is still exciting for my son. It was also reassuring that he knows more than I. 😉
    Keep exploring and asking questions,
    Jim

Maybe you should just try an ICP once. Even within Germany it can take up to one week until the analysis is done. And you have your test results and if necessary counter tests by local stores as a comparison.

You can store it for months no problem, I collect a few weeks worth at a time as its handy to keep a little aside incase of bad weather or heavy rain (Good old Scotland 😅) which can lower salinity and potentially cause polution/fertiliser/pesticides to run off from the land, looking forward to seeing the 6ft using NSW! 😁👍
