    I soak some old rice or old rava or old moong dhaal for first grind to remove stones and dust. 1 cup of oil is expensive compared to 1 cup of rice.

    I just ate all the dirt probably. Had only cleaned with water. A different grinder tho
    Also, I felt the oil cleaning which has been done here is a great option. Especially with the glue attached to Stone and steel. Didn't have any cleaning before first use instructions in user manual.
    So this is quite helpful, even if for a different brand for many first time buyers/ users.
    Oil seems the best medium for cleaning initially. Thanks for the tip.

    Thank you for the informative video. Using the oil for cleaning seems to be an effective method. Question: is the oil method what is recommended by the vendor? I have seen people recommend the first use is with soaked rice and others mention oil. I purchased a Premier wet grinder but there was no mention of this in the manual.

    • @MillennialHomemaker
      @MillennialHomemaker  4 роки тому +7

      This was not in the manual to use oil. I did my research And came up with it. And I could see a lot of dirt accumulated in the oil which showed that it worked. If I had to do it again I would do a step 2 and grind with soaked rice and discard the batter too.

    • @moviegirl611
      @moviegirl611 4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the suggestion. I did the soap & water followed by the oil cleaning, which had similar results as in the video. Next I did the soap & water followed by the soaked rice. This, for the most part, looked clean but I did see a few black oil drops come out of the axel of the grinding stones. Also the scraping tool had some black on it. Now I feel like I can use it for food.😊🙏

    • @moviegirl611
      @moviegirl611 4 роки тому +3

      One thing occurred to me is that with just running the oil it seemed to be louder. Was this the case for you? There is a part of me that wonders if running with only liquid protects the stones enough. For instance maybe this has an unintended consequence of adding additional friction on stones, which makes the oil even more dirty. Maybe 30min could be too long but I agree that it seems to do a very good job of cleaning. I also used the supplied spatula to redirect some of the oil so both grinding stones got “wet” with the oil.

    Should we do this process Everytime before grinding batter

    • @MillennialHomemaker
      @MillennialHomemaker  4 роки тому +1

      No. You need to do this only the first time after you buy the grinder. Because the stones are new and it needs seasoning. Otherwise small particles of stones might end up in your food. Once the stones are seasoned well, this will not happen.
