IMO Dogma IS the final boss of the game. It’s Isaac defeating what ruined his life, the indoctrination of his mother by fanatic tele-evengalists. Him killing the beast is just to come to terms with his mother never being able to return to being normal. (And yea, Dogma is just 100x more cool. Design, Music, Difficulty, everything.)
