I love the bird, so sweet! I also love your nails! I super love the color too! I think it’s a great idea especially when your nails are centered. Maybe we should give more cups of tea, because I know that it can be expensive to keep our nails good looking.. sometimes I do my own too. I s appreciate what a great teacher you are! Thank you! Marion!! 💕Donna
Oh I did love getting them done! But alas, I don't think it's very healthy for your nails. I felt mine weren't as strong as they were so I've stopped doing it. Normal nail varnish for special occasions only from now on 😏
The greenfinch is so lovely, Marion. Nice that you used the bark of the birch. Sometimes I reed that people say something about the nails of the person in the video, and I always think: where are they looking at? I never see "dirty"nails. Maybe because my nails are always dirty, doesn't matter how many times a day I clean them. That is the "problem"with animals and gardens, and I don't mind. But your nails are looking beautiful and I love the color.
I agree totally Marjan! I'm am so used to having gardener's hands and nails that I wasn't even noticing. But my daughter said sometimes they looked dreadful. I didn't think they'd stay nice considering I have a fire to clean too... but so far so good... The bark has stayed really pliable. I hope it continues to stay like that...fingers crossed!
😊❤good evening Marion, the greenfinch is beautiful, the use of the bark makes all comes to life. Thank you for sharing, beautiful nails . Soft hugs Teresa xx
So gorgeous!!😍😍. I watch several people on UA-cam for Embroidery inspiration but none of them gets me so excited as when I see that you have put up a new video!! Absolutely love all your creativity and all the different things you use to create your masterpieces. Thank you so much for sharing all your beautiful work😊🤗🤗🫶🏻
Thanks so much for your comment. I hope that it helps people see how decisions are made re stitches or fabrics etc. Sometimes I lapse into silence because I get engrossed in what I'm doing. Mostly that gets edited out though!
Marion, it is so much fun to see your projects come alive beneath your fingertips❤. Speaking of which, your nails look great! I was 65 before I went to a nail salon because I had hip replacement and couldn’t do my toes. And yes, I was scared to death. Best to you!
😂 it's odd the things that can make us worried about doing.... I walked up and down past the nail place about a half a dozen times before I got the courage to walk in and talk to the lady.... Of course, now I wonder what I was worried about.... I hope your hip replacement went well. 🤞😊💐
Your finch turned out beautiful! I so enjoy the variety of fabrics and materials you incorporate - it feels very freeing to not be limited to mostly cottons and linens! The birch bark was a wonderful touch.
Thanks Debra. I think it's because I've always had to 'make do'. It means I look at the possibilities of things. I enjoy finding alternate purposes for the ordinary.
Thank you Marion. The greenfinch worked out really well and who would’ve thought that you could stitch a bit of birch bark into an embroidery?! Your nails look beautiful. I had to start having mine done because they were splitting. I’ve just had a little bit of glitter added in for Christmas. 😊. ❤
It was an experiment that worked out well... I'm really pleased with my nails. They've lasted without getting chipped and look lovely. I'll be getting them re-done next week. I'll be a bit braver with the colour this time! After years of 'gardener's hands' and split nails, I'm quite enjoying them..
Wow! Beautiful bird! And you completed the page in one go! Love the birch tree bark. Looks so natural! I’ll keep watching your bird videos since stitching birds is a challenge for me. You make it look so easy! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Take care. 🌷tess
I looked up a pic of the European greenfinch. Your rendition is almost perfect. The beak on the one I saw was a bit different. Your greenfinch is beautiful. I just subscribed to your channel it’s so interesting 🤔
Good job on “going for it” on the nails! You deserve to treat yourself for bringing us such lovely videos! Also… you taught us how to cut the skeins and loosely plait it - then pull each thread from the top… I LOVE IT!! Works so well! Thanks for the tip. ❤️
I did really want to use the blue fabric. Because I thought the bird colour looked lovely with the pale blue. But it was just too busy of a print. The second choice of the white was better in the end!
Thank you Marion. Normally I am not a fan of that particular green, but you made it look really nice on the Finch. I did notice your manicure and it also looks nice and the shade of pink is a good selection.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Your nails look lovely Marion. Its nice to treat yourself something. Your finch is wonderful, I really enjoy watching your birds come to life.
Stunning work! I learn some from you every single time I watch. I love how you just talk through your thought processes and that teaches so much ….amazing!
Pretty greenfinch, perfect position on the branch ! Love birch bark, always had a hankering to make a canoe, like the ones of the Canadian Indians and furtrappers used to make. It is so light and flexible, and they used tree resin to waterproof the seams. You could make a little canoe from birch bark for your boat collection.
Oh that's a perfect idea... I'll put my thinking cap on as I think the pieces I have at the moment are too thin. But you've set the gears in motion ☺️⚙️
Beautiful little greenfinch, how clever you are at making your little birds come alive. Great idea with the tree bark, who would have thought you would be able to sew into it. Once again, thanks for sharing Marion, LOVE your videos x
It really was very easy to stitch. I had peeled it down quite thinly... I don't know whether it will curl up in the end. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, as so far it's not changed at all.
Wow !!! This green finch is just BEAUTIFUL!!! The color of your green coat is lovely, & I love the birch limb, just a very well embroidered piece !!! & your nails look so pretty !!!
I like watching your channel. The way you use what you have encourages me to get started with what I have. I enjoy seeing how you make the birds come alive! I look forward to seeing some knitting with you! Happy crafting!!
Hi Marion, your greenfinch is perfect and he’s perched on real wood….so clever. He really pops off the light background and looks absolutely splendid. I love it ❤
An absolutely fantastic tribute to the green finch! It’s wonderful to page through and have warm memories of what the pieces of materials were originally. Warm wishes!
The feathers look so realistic, the whole bird really. I like your sewing stand, looks so helpful to your work. I think a variegated thread for stitching your leaves would give it more dimension. Just my two cents worth.🇺🇸
Another beautiful page Marion. Great idea to incorporate the birch bark…. It added to the natural look of the piece. Congrats on your 3K subscribers! More and more people are now going to enjoy your lovely company, great tutorials and beautiful work.
What a treat for me to find your channel! I love stitching, birds and textile art. Your video popped up in my suggested videos and now I am a fan and subscriber. Thanks for sharing your talent. I love how the green finch turned out. It's very realistic! Now to see what else you've been up to;

And I'm learning do much from you . I'm 73 yrs old and just learning how to sew.you make it look so easy But of course it is not thank you so much.
My tangle just evolved really once I was no longer interested in the numbers and makes of the thread. Years ago I had embroidery kits and kept all my threads in number order. I wound the unused pieces back where they belonged. However once I started to do my own designs I realised I needed the threads in colour order because that's how I'm searching for them. Then I wanted them to look neat and started just keeping the spare bits to one side to pull from. I call it a tangle but they're not actually tangled up. Because I just lie the next ones on top all the time I can usually just get hold of the colour I need and it just pulls free. I usually look there first before I get a new thread from a bobbin, so they do get used up as well as get added to.
In this video I'm using my Lowery work stand with side clamp. Then just my normal large hoop. The stand has a bar where I fix my magnifying light is as well. That's been super helpful with lighting the videos. I've had it about a year as I realised I was struggling to see the fine work I was doing at that time. Occasionally I also use my old chair hoop but have it standing on the table in front of me. Hope that's helpful Carol.
Here and there I have. It's been going for years! When I used to do embroidery from kits I always wound the thread back onto the bobbins to keep knowing the numbers as it was important at the time. When I started to do my own thing That just wasn't important anymore. Colour and texture is what I'm looking for regardless of the make or number. So then I had threads I never put back and it just evolved. I call it my tangle but it isn't knotted up or anything. I always look for thread there before I take some from a bobbin. And then I add the balance of any thread which is unused. I can usually pull out anything I want without it getting caught up. It must have been going now for 20 years or more... I also have a thread jar where all the bits too short for the tangle go. It just looks pretty!
I was mesmerized by watching this bird come alive. I love that you share your thoughts as you develop your art.

What a beautiful bird and fabulous tutorial! ❤

Beautiful! Many wonderful features: using bark, the curled leaf, coat remnants. Very nice! 💜💜💜
Thanks Mara 💐

I did notice your nails. Pretty! Pale pink is my favorite.
I love the use of the birch bark, your green finch is very nice.
Thank you. I thought maybe the bark would dry up too much. But it's still as lovely as when I stitched it down.
This is wonderful, Marion! You seem to have an instinct for just where to put the next stitch. Lovely to watch.
Thanks Dianne. :)
Your green finch is very beautiful and has quite a personality. Looking forward to the green linen duster and how you will embroider it! 💕

Beautiful little greenfinch, how clever you are at making your little birds come alive. Great idea with the tree bark, who would have thought you would be able to sew into it. Once again, thanks for sharing Marion, LOVE your videos x
Thanks Jean 💐
Perfect!
I enjoy seeing your embroidery work so freely stitched.I am too restrained sometimes and lay the design out before stitching. Lovely green finch😊x
When I sit down to stitch I usually have no idea how I'm going to do it. I just pick my fabric and thread and dive in...!
Beautiful handwork 24:18
Thank you for the compliment. :)
I always thought birch bark would make a unique canvas for drawing or painting. I've never thought of stitching through it. The bird is beautiful🤗
It really was very easy to stitch. I had peeled it down quite thinly... I don't know whether it will curl up in the end. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, as so far it's not changed at all.

The feathers look so realistic, the whole bird really. I like your sewing stand, looks so helpful to your work. I think a variegated thread for stitching your leaves would give it more dimension. Just my two cents worth.🇺🇸
I do like using variegated thread. But here I wanted all the focus on the bird. That's why I left the leaves so simply done. 🪡🧵
Another beautiful page Marion. Great idea to incorporate the birch bark…. It added to the natural look of the piece. Congrats on your 3K subscribers! More and more people are now going to enjoy your lovely company, great tutorials and beautiful work.

Amazing beautiful just love your work .can youvtell me how you made your tangle.im amazed at this.im so new to all of this and just cant stop watching your videos . They are so interesting. And I'm learning do much from you . I'm 73 yrs old and just learning how to sew.you make it look so easy
But of course it is not thank you so much.
Hello, Marion. Will you tell us what clamp you are using? Thanks. Great video, as always. The use of the birch adds so much!
Another beautiful bird!!! Have you ever talked about the history of your 'tangle'? Just curious 😊
It's pretty in and of itself!
