It's been fifty years since I first tuned in to watch Josie and the Pussycats - and I still love the whole team - and yes, that includes you, Alexandra Cabot!
What a terrific time capsule! I loved those spoons and erasers when I was in third grade. In fact, I got in trouble for attempting to trade the Josie eraser that I had for the Alan eraser that Raymond Lung (who sat across the aisle from me in Math class) had. In the middle of the transaction, the teacher snatched the eraser from my hand, dropped in into her desk drawer and said, "You'll get it back at the end of the school year!" I never saw the eraser again! I am STILL angry with Miss Glick for toy trade blocking me!
American tycoon funny a similar thing happened to me i was in the first grade, i was showing my josie orange eraser and yellow alan during class the other kid dropped them mrs barabee noticed and took them promising them back at the end of the school year but never returned them 😢 i was so proud of these because i got them in trade from a freind in Massachusetts because no matter how many boxes of sugarpops i obtained i always got blue or purple ,so finally got these colors and beastly barabee took em lol😳 thankfully i have a full set of these still mip ☝💥😁
@@thomashardcastle5912 It's kind of hilarious that we (the Brady Boomers) have these distinct memories about the cereal prizes of our youth! Kids today will never have anything like this at all to remember. No Saturday morning cartoons, no cereal premiums, no collective consciousness.

@@thomashardcastle5912 I know what you mean, Thomas - I've been a fan of this cartoon show since its debut on the "Tiffany Network", CBS, on September 12, 1970 - and I still love them to this day, and that includes the comic foil who is one Alexandra Cabot. I'm also in agreement with you on the matter of belief - every day, I ask the Supreme Being to have mercy on me. Thank you for listening to me, my friend.
When CBS first aired "JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS" 50 years ago in Fall 1970, Kelloggs was the show's main sponsor, while CBS Saturday Mornings debuted "IN THE KNOW" that CBS News and Hanna-Barbera Productions produced between each of their shows in the 1970-71 TV season before CBS changed the format into the long-running "IN THE NEWS" in Fall 1971. when the Josie cartoon debuted that Fall, I collected as much of these erasers from these cereal boxes while being in 4th grade in Maile Elementary School in Waianae, Hawaii.
Thanks! What I remember is my grandfather Raymond Horus Thursby was a member of S.A.G. and he knew I liked the "Josie & the Pussycats" cartoon. So my Mom takes me to the studio and what you see is the 2nd take. I must have made a face because the director asked me what was wrong and he laughed when I told him I didn't like it! So he asked me "Can you pretend you like it?" So I did and the look on my face after I take that bite says "I'm pretending!" ha ha
this is AMAZING. i NEVER thought i would ever again see this commercial. and you were part of it!! wow! JOSIE is a major part of my toy collection, and the jewels of my entire collection are the PUSSYCATS pencil-toppers! i wish i could have a copy of this recording! thank you for keeping this bit of pop culture history for the rest of us to marvel over!
Thanks!!! My pleasure to share it for all the cartoon and retro commercial fans!!! I have hung onto this since I was a kid. Thank God I always took care of my stuff!!! Thanks again for your comment!!!
Sorry, not much except I may have the Only original copy of this commercial in existence, my Grandfather gave it to me when he was working for SAC and got me the job. How it remained in such good shape since 1971 I'll never know! But the residuals from this little commercial helped buy me my first drum set yrs later!
I can't really remember that much more. I know when I went into kindergarten some of the kids recognized me and I didn't like it. Haha They had my mom ask if I would do more and she was just like, "He said no thank you " And that was that. LOL But I still have some spoons, a couple I didn't use!
Now THIS is what i remember, when CBS aired "JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS" in the 1970-71 TV season, and "IN THE KNOW",which aired between CBS's cartoon fair during that season, and i'm damned angry at Warner Home Video, for failing to include this vintage Kelloggs cereal commercial, and the other Kelloggs commercial that "Alexander Cabot" also did for the First season of this cartoon show, when they officially released the series on DVD in 2007

Ah, this show is so goddamn adorable in every way. I wish Warner Bros. & Universal Pictures would revive the show and/or make an animated film.

That's so cool you have those !!" When I did the commercial they gave me a bunch of those spoons and I still have a few in plastic unopened !!!
Wow that's awesome and groovy good!!
Back when characters in children's shows were still allowed to appear in commercials in the same program. The practice was banned in 1973.
By the time I did this in 1971, pretty much all the cartoons had gone color.
(FYI)🎩The JOSIE & the PUSSYCATS ERASERS go for about 120.00 dollars EACH on ebay. Depending on condition ☝💥😀🆗
Wow!
