I'd say that despite the technical limitations, the footage looked great! We are our own worst critics in the end, but I do get the missed potential for an even better shot.

Look how the double rainbow has mirrored colours because it bounced one more time in the droplet. If you want to reliably find a rainbow and its raining. Put the sun behind you, have your shadow in front and look 42.7 degrees up from the head of your shadow and take off your polarised sunglasses and filters. xx

Idk what he does, but sounds like my old setup. *Preamp>Transformer>EQ>NoiseGate>Compressor>Compressor>Limiter>Interface* Preamp is anything really, just to buffer the signal at xlr line level. Transformer is to remove ground-loop hum and to add some harmonics. For eq; boost the pleasant bass, cut the boom, cut the whistling freqs and resonance, boost or cut sylabance depending on mic. Compression to taste, but I tend to do a high ratio, fast attack, mid release on first comp, a lower threshold and slower release on the second. You could argue, correctly, that the gate should go first, but it is built into my compressor module. I go for the stereotypical overcomp'd radio voice sound, and then dial it back until smooth/pleasant. The limiter is just to keep spikes from distorting the interface as a failsafe. My setup happens to be all hardware, but software works just as well, and might be simpler; you'd need only one comp, no transformer. For a microphone, any decent ($200+) Large-Diaphram Condenser will work great, and includes its own preamp, but needs +48v phantom power from your preamp or interface. Otherwise, a decent preamp (most interface preamps are quite good these days) on a cheap sm-57 with a pop screen will get you 98% of the way there.
