Thanks for watching!
Came here for the rice cooker, stayed for the cat
Hilarious to see the cat’s reaction when it gets done cooking.
That's the coolest cat ever.
Finally a proper review on a rice cooker!
💫
i got the NW-JEC10 top of the line and love it so far.
I have a question I heard before don’t soak rice for to long yet rice cooker sit in the water for like 20 minutes can you explain?
I have this model and it's ideal ! Great recap
Glad you like it! 😊
Surprised the cat did not try to sit inside the rice cooker with the lid up.
He isn't a huge fan of rice :)
Welcome to rice cooker family!
TLDR: Rice is life so hits different for cultures that don’t eat it on the daily. Great to see you experiencing the best of rice. Wait til you discover Japanese grain varieties, makes English rice taste like nothing.
Most rice cookers (including old school ones with one switch) work with an internal thermostat, water evaporates = rice done. Mine’s been passed down by my mum and is 30+ years old, still going strong, sits proudly on the counter.
I’m guessing these new age ones do the resting bit for you? We let the rice sit (power off) for another 10 minutes before lifting the lid of ol’ reliable, finishes the cooking and gives you a better texture.
May I suggest before serving, fluff the rice in a slow slashing sort of motion, means you separate the grains from themselves without smushing them.
If you don’t have a rice cooker, this is how mum would tell you: (the short notes version)
Do everything the same as you woulda rice cooker but in a pot with a lid on the stove. Bring it to the boil and simmer untouched until rice is done. Depends on your pot, rice and amount so the more you make it you’ll know when it’s done. The simmering sounds different when all the water evaporates. Let it sit for 10 minutes before fluffing, separating grains and you’re good to go. This applies to short grain, works with jasmine too.
Love your friendly neighbourhood C h i p
Beautiful cat. The rice cooker’s not bad either
Russian Blue. My daughter has one. A girl. Extremely smart cats.
My Sunpentown rice cooker Zoji lookalike has a slow cook function. Cant wait to use it!!
Wow you clean the top portion after every use! My Asian family barely cleans it once a month!
Basic rice cookers actually don’t work on a timer - they have a magnet which triggers when the bowl reaches a certain temperature (once the water has boiled off, the temp will rise).
So that’s how. Very interesting! Thank you
I cheat and keep my rice for multiple days. Just before eating more of the rice, add hot water (a couple of tablespoons) and let it hydrate again. Surprisingly yummy!
Genius! Love it
what a polite cat
He really is!
Uncle Roger approve! Fuiyoh!!
Nice review thanks
Really great video! Nice combination of informative and entertaining. If UA-cam channels were stocks, I'd invest in you!
Does it really come with a steamer basket as you say? wherever I look for that info it says that this model doesn't have this accessory. Does anyone cook vegies together with the rice? I'd like to add a broccoli or an egg plant at the end of the rice cooking so that it is steamed at the same time as the rice is being prepared. Or you just put it on top if you don't have the basket?
Mine didn't but I think some do...
So I work In coffee too. Also, rice is my new nerd thing since covid 19 hit. My girlfriend is from the Philippines and what she doesn’t know about rice isn’t worth knowing.
In relation to coffee experimenting with different rice and water will give you different experiences.
What kind of rice are you using?
Nice to meet you Dominic. I quite like the Toyama Koshihikari rice. It’s what are used in the video. I got the rice cooker because I really struggle to cook decent short grain for Japanese dishes. Do you have any rice recommendations I should check out?
I can’t believe it took a month to get a notification. 🙄
We use a few rices, standard white rice for savoury is Green Dragon Thai Jasmine rice.
Then for sweet dishes we use Thai Hom Mali rice from green dragon.
Nishiki is our go to sushi rice
And finally glutinous rice by Chewy for the home made Mochi
@@dominicbankes9891 Do you think calrose is good suhi rice?
botan brand?
You eat rice with chopsticks when you eat from a bohl, with a spoon form a plate! Never with a fork! Listen to uncle Roger! Nice review!
Whoops!
Haiiiyyaaaahhh
No salt, No oil with the rice, but plenty of cat hairs! Enjoy! 😂
If your watching, prime day has it on sale right now for $100
The only thing I want to know is it better than a premium all in one pressure cooker type unit. I have not seen any reviews of this. Only people comparing a non loose lid type rice cooker (old fashioned western type one). Also worth mentioning most people who want authentic Asian rice will use jasmine varieties which these machines tend to prefer.
I can’t comment because I’ve not tried it
You should stream some shrimp 🦐 and beef for your friends 😻😻
Fuzzy logic is so 90's... :D
Totally
"Let's cook some rice"
Made me laugh 😂😂😂🐱
I have an older Tiger. Goodwill for$10!
Holy moly. Is this a panther?
That is actually not just a rice cooker. It can cook soup, steaming food and even bake a cake.
I need to try the cake!
@@oli.bradshaw yea, looking forward to see your next vid about baking a cake with Zojirushi rice cooker!
Do you salt your rice in the bowl as well?
I haven’t before…
Using the rice function of an Instant Pot, no music though
Yeah this will work too :)
Oli - the link is unavailable - but is there a smaller cheaper model - dont need 5 servings.
There's a very similar model that's made in China, rather than Japan, that's £100 cheaper. I wonder how they compare to each other.
If budget is allowed always go with Japan ones.
Do you salt the water at all?
I've never tried? I guess you could to your taste
Hi there I have exactly this rice cooker but lost the cup, could you please help me where I could find a replacement cup
oooooh I worry about this day. Im not sure im sorry
Thanks for the review :) I'm really confused about all the different models. What's the difference between NS-YQS10, NP-HCC10 and the NP-HBQ10? Age of model maybe or EU/UK/US plug perhaps? Anyway it's really hard to find the top model Zojirushi rice cookers for sale in Europe at the moment :/
By the way how difficult is it to clean?
Yeah right! The model numbers are well confusing. Its pretty easy to clean, perhaps I should have mentioned that in the video :\
@@KristianSloth Easy to clean, just the bowl and the upper lid part. All comes apart and clips back together nicely 👌
The NP-HBQ10 is as the NS-YSQ10, but adds induction heating technology. I have that very model, which I acquired by chance on eBay. Like most Zojirushis found in Europe, they're likely to be grey imports, as Zojirushi doesn't have an official European subsidiary. The NP-NCC10 is the American 120V version of the HBQ10, sold by Zojirushi America.
I would love to know how a grey import works (100 V in Japan, 220/ 230 V Europe), unless a step down transformer is used.
I don’t think there is a voltage switch. Any ideas?
I was wondering if you know where it was manufactured? There isn't anything that i can see about country manufacture
Yes! Says made in Japan
It says "Made in Japan" with big big letters on the front of the machine.
Lol, great video! I just bought one!
Yes!
Now you just need to find rice worthy of the cooker.
I really like Toyama Rice. Soft and sticky
KITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How does this compare against the Toshiba version?
This one has cute melodies
So,🤔 when is that fresh meat going to sleep warmly inside that latest bed?😂😋
So, cute cat..🥰
Good question! Thanks :)
Your link says it's out of stock. :-(
Oh no! I’ll try and find a new link!
Try this… amzn.to/3lYeGAT
I would love to buy this f*** rice cooker, but I don’t know where… 😭
I’m from Germany and the best offers online are around 300€
Maybe on ebay?
My guy how have you only got 169 followers!?
♥️
@@oli.bradshaw I have just bought a similar zojirushi based on your review. I think the models are the same but mine is from the US got it on eBay open but unused for £110 delivered. hopefully there isn't a catch but it looks legit
Eating Rice my whole life from $50, $200 & $500 rice cookers….When it comes to taste can’t hardly tell the difference cos is almost tasteless.. it’s the texture that has more noticeable difference
what cat is that?
He’s a British shorthair
Pretty nice review. You fail at eating rice though. Only acceptable way to eat rice is with a spoon, chopsticks or your hand.
Wait... You find yourself cooking your own rice when getting a take away? You mean you have hoose rice?!
hah yea man
😳
non-stick is toxic
I hear you, a stainless bowl would be ideal!
fuck that Uncle gimmick, im so feed up with it.
Hiyaaaah
Get the cat off the table especially while preparing food. Yes the cat is cute but it does not belong there because it's not healthy.
He's fairly clean. Clean-ish
