We had a fun day of hunting with Bill and Christine, we look forward to future hunts with you both.. The art of plucking is a must to learn, to hunt here in Vegas. As someone posted already, it is very hard to grow nice grass here in this desert, and they protect it with many laws for metal detecting. We have some really nice parks, and some that are not so nice. All are covered under the same laws. I just wish they would enforce the clean up your doggy doo law.. Sometimes you have to navigate the doo to hunt... Thanks again for the fun day Bill and Christine.. See you soon..
@@stormysadventuresindigginw1505 you can hunt some of our tot lots, just check the signs, you can use your beach scoop or hand digger in the tot lots. However, all the finds will be shallow, not deep. Vegas is built on caleche, and it is like concrete. All our parks are fill dirt and sod. There is very little old ground left here in Vegas. Most of our parks were built in the 1970's, so the only way to find old or silver coins, is if someone drops it from their pockets.
Right... go figure... it is an interesting method... will try it back home... there are a couple nice parks I have never hunted because I did not want to dig... but now...hummmm
Very true... I will say, James pulled out 4 bling rings in the time I found my stuff... he is a rock star at probing...They were both good at it. But the heat is a deal breaker for me....
It is def not my preferred method but if items are close to the surface then no problem but anything under an inch down seemed really difficult.... at least we know we have an option...
I been waiting for my fix of SoCal detecting, I should be good for a week now. That technique is so frustrating like trying to find a needle in a haystack with a needle.
I had successfully probed coins from the ground in the past. I just used a flat bladed screwdriver which is fine if you are not concerned about scratching the target. Usually shallow urban finds are modern clad or pulls anyway.
Thanks... I will try it some more at a couple local parks that I avoid... However, not before I talk to the city officials they are in... I prefer not to get kicked out...lol
This is how I recover items in the grass/parks. The parks employees will asked you to leave if they see you doing a plug because of the damage it goes to the grass. Patience and practice! You will get it. Use a glove. Great video!
Nice one! ♫ Viva Las Vegas ♫ The number of credits you found was amazing Bill. Love the view from your window. Also, James is a talented guy. All the best, Bill & Christine. Happy travels.
Thanks Sheila... Robert and James were really good at it. I did not get a chance to show it but James pulled out 4 bling rings which blew my mind.... It was so nice of them to give us the wood coins....always nice meeting new people
I started out with a screwdriver. Then a super nice guy I met on friendly metal detecting site, made me a probe, from a golf ball and brass rod. That makes it less likely to damage the target. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi guys, great video. I hope you had a blast. No jewelry but at least you found some things, it looks beautiful there, area was so well maintained. Enjoyed the video. Talk to you later. Take care.
Good job! Bill learned a whole new skill set. Might open the door to all sorts of new parks. Stock with the brass probe. A notched (or anything steel) screw driver can really scratch up any rare coins you find. Great job Bill.
Hi Christine and Bill Thanks for taking us on your trip to Las Vegas. Bill you did great at figuring how to probe/dig it looked as strange as it was for you to do. I was amazed at how many coins you removed/found it must take a lot of dexterity to do that. Christine you did a great job driving and camera work. Finally you had a good time treasure hunting the casino, Thanks for the video Looking forward to the next one. Our first trip to America was Las Vegas September 9th 2001 so that meant we were in Las Vegas sadly on September 11th it was a very very sad time.
We also dug in vegas last October. Whoops! Glad you found a wheatie! There's always that learning curve. Excited to see you probe the fancy parks in cali. 👽 18 bucks?! Wow! Nice score.
I am not sure if it is a city or county rule but I think your safe by now... they are not coming for you...lol. Yes, I do plan on hitting a couple parks with the probe but I am going to ask first because they are nice. I really want to go to Beverly Hills and hunt...lol
Hunting with a probe seems like it's too tedious. Nice little trick of looking for credits on the machines in the casino. Hope you two had a great time in Vegas. Nice to meet fellow hunters. Safe trip home!
Thanks Nora... yes, it was more work than I thought and forget anything deep. We did have a nice time but more importantly Christine got some much needed rest...
Hello Bill, please don't take me wrong, but I'm really glad that you are learning to use a probe, I'm a Sub, and have been following you and Cupcake for sometime, I watch lots of people digging an 8" hole to locate a coin that is only 2" down, the probe can help you find shallow items, and no need to dig a big hole, just sayin. KEEP THOSE VIDS COMING, HI Cupcake.
Saturday is aiways hunt day for me, so I am going to try my upholstery tack remover today. Thanks for another fun and interesting video. In that heat too! Hope you got in the pool to cool off.
Hold the pin pointer straight up and down, just using the tip. More accurate for that type of detecting. I use a cheap flat head screw driver with the very tip bent to right angle. Hook the end on the edge and pull it out.
In a lot of cities, you have no choice but to use a probe. Even a small trowel/digger is a no no. You can forget about even exposing the handle of a shovel without getting a frown from the public I remember the first time I had to do this on a well kept park ground. It takes some patience, especially when you’re probing a ring/ pull tab target with no flat surface to tap on. Wow have to use a probe to get the coins, I am not too much for that, but if I went to Vegas I would have to learn a new trick. Nice to let your metal detecting buddy share in the drive:) Yeah
That’s the way I do it guys. I probe all the time in the baseball field soccer fields school grounds I never use a knife or a digger like you guys do it takes a bet of practice probing but after lots of practice you get the hang of it as long as my Pinpointer makes a beep I know it’s not very deep down. When I first started detecting in the 70's , I only used a probe and a screwdriver in lawns. Find the target with the probe and pop it out with the screwdriver. It takes some practice. It's funny how the probe makes the worms come out of the ground too. Not sure what makes them do that.
It was interesting and a good thing to learn.... as far as worms... not sure but when I was a kid I was taught a trick to get worms... I would put a shovel into the ground and shake it back and forth and out wold come worms... easy picking...

You can gamble, sell yourself, drink yourself silly but you can't dig a small hole!? Vegas has some strange rules 😮

Ok, my bad......
The "Probe & Pop" doesn't look like much fun. I'm glad your channel isn't called "Probin' SoCal".
Any reason you couldn’t just use a screwdriver?
It would be about the same... someone told me in the past they probe with a screw driver and even notched it so they can hook a coin better....
Nah, not a fan of the probe. Respect those who do it. I think I'd just stick with the buffet and roulette table on this trip. lol
To tedious! No thanks. But good luck
Karen’s have to ruin everything good in life!
